Allah is asking mankind this question: “Do they not see that Allah outspreads and restricts his provision to whom he will?”  Also, Allah Analyzes Human Nature in times of Mercy and in times Hardship.  In addition, Allah Grants the Rights of the Kinship, the Needy and the traveler in the Quran

In the Noble Quran, Allah is asking mankind some important questions.

It seems compulsory for the serious one who is looking for the truth to have a look at those questions and if possible to answer them. The answers for these questions may adjust and amend our way in this life and may change some of our ideas.

Allah’ questions are many.

In this series, these questions are chosen randomly.

The question in this article is:

“Do they not see that Allah outspreads and restricts his provision to whom he will?”

Verses 30:36-38 give the question of this article and talk about it

The meanings of Verses 30:36-38

Verse 30:36 says:

And when Allah let people, such as the disbelievers taste some mercy, some grace, they exult in it, an exultation of arrogance; they rejoice therein without giving thanks for Their Lord’s mercy and grace.

But if some evil, some hardship, tightness, drought or sickness befall them as the consequence of their own deeds; befall them for what their own hands have sent ahead, behold! They despair from the mercy of Allah, and fail to withstand it!

It is in the nature of a believer to give thanks in times of grace and to hope for mercy from his Lord in times of hardship.

Verse 30:37 says:

Have they not seen, have they not realized, that Allah extends, He makes abundant, His provision to whomever He will, as a test, and straitens?,

And He restricts it for whomever He will, as a trial?

Surely in that there are signs and lessons for people who believe, in Muhammad and in the Quran.

Verse 30:38 says:

So give, O Muhammad and you believers to the kinsman, to the one related to you by blood (his due) the right of his kinship,

And to the needy give him clothing and food,

and to the wayfarer and the traveler;  be hospitable to him as your guest for three days, and whatever you give him after three days is alms; the community must emulate him in this respect.

That is better for those who desire God’s Countenance, [who desire] His reward, in exchange for what they do; those, they are the successful, the winners.

That which I have mentioned of kinship, giving and hospitality is best; it is a reward and honour in the Hereafter for those who seek Allah’s countenance by their giving. And such are they who are successful, those who are saved from Allah’s wrath and torment.

Verses 30:36-38 in different translations:

QARIB:

36) When we give people a taste of mercy, they rejoice in it, but when evil befalls them through the forwarding of their own hands, they become despondent.

37) Do they not see that Allah outspreads and restricts his provision to whom he will? Surely, there are signs in this for those who believe.

38) And give to the kinsman his due, and to the needy, and to the destitute traveler. That is best for those who desire the face of Allah; such will surely prosper.

 

SHAKIR:

36) And when we make people taste of mercy they rejoice in it, and if an evil befall them for what their hands have already wrought, lo! they are in despair

37) Do they not see that Allah makes ample provision for whom he pleases, or straitens? Most surely there are signs in this for a people who believe

38) Then give to the near of kin his due, and to the needy and the wayfarer; this is best for those who desire Allah’s pleasure, and these it is who are successful

 

PICKTHAL:

36) And when we cause mankind to taste of mercy they rejoice therein; but if an evil thing befall them as the consequence of their own deeds, lo! they are in despair!

37) See they not that Allah enlargeth the provision for whom he will, and straiteneth (it for whom he will). Lo! Herein indeed are portents for folk who believe.

38) So give to the kinsman his due, and to the needy, and to the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek Allah’s countenance. And such are they who are successful.

 

YUSUFALI:

36) When we give men a taste of mercy, they exult thereat: and when some evil afflicts them because of what their (own) hands have sent forth, behold, they are in despair!

37) See they not that Allah enlarges the provision and restricts it, to whomsoever he pleases? Verily in that are signs for those who believe.

38) So give what is due to kindred, the needy, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek the countenance, of Allah, and it is they who will prosper.

Allah does not love (6) any vainglorious prideful boasters

Do not grieve for what escapes you,

Do not exult at what you have got   

Everything is written in a Book before the Creation of the Earth

In the previous articles, we have seen that Allah does not love those:

(1) the disbelievers,

2) the arrogant,

3) those who reject faith,

4) the proud and the boastful and

5) any swaggering braggart, strutting in his steps; and there is an essential association between the disbelief and the arrogance.  

In this article, that Allah does not love any vainglorious prideful boasters

The meanings of verse 57:22-23 of the Noble Quran:

Verse 57:22 says that:

Naught of disasters afflictions befall in the earth, such as drought, dryness of land, rise in prices and continuous hunger,

Or in yourselves, such as sicknesses, pains, misfortunes, the death of one’s family members and children and loss of wealth;

But it is in a Book, meaning, the Preserved Tablet, before We bring it about, before We create it, i.e., before creation of the earth.

That is indeed easy for Allah.

Verse 57:23 says that:

And, Allah informs [you] of this so that you may not, grieve for what escapes you, nor exult, with a wanton exultation, rather an exultation that is followed by a thanksgiving for the grace, at what He has given you or what has come to you from Him’.  For God does not like any vainglorious boaster;

Allah does not love all prideful people about their disbelief and boasters about their idolatry.

Allah does not like these kinds of people; this means that He will punish them severely at the Day of Judgment.

Verses 57:22-23 in different translations

QARIB:

22) No affliction can befall either the earth, or yourself, except that it is (written) in a book before we created it. that is easy for Allah;

23) So that you will not be saddened for whatever does not come to you, nor be overjoyed in what has come to you. Allah does not love those who are proud and boastful

SHAKIR:

22) No evil befalls on the earth nor in your own souls, but it is in a book before we bring it into existence; surely that is easy to Allah:

23) So that you may not grieve for what has escaped you, nor be exultant at what he has given you; and Allah does not love any arrogant boaster:

PICKTHAL:

22) Naught of disaster befalleth in the earth or in yourselves but it is in a book before we bring it into being – lo! that is easy for Allah –

23) That ye grieve not for the sake of that which hath escaped you, nor yet exult because of that which hath been given. Allah loveth not all prideful boasters,

YUSUFALI:

22) No misfortune can happen on earth or in your souls but is recorded in a decree before we bring it into existence: that is truly easy for Allah:

23) In order that ye may not despair over matters that pass you by, nor exult over favours bestowed upon you. for Allah loveth not any vainglorious boaster,-

ALLAH loves (1) the kind good doers

Allah is the Kind and He Loves the kind who spends his wealth in obedience of Allah. 

Allah is the Good Doers and He Loves the good doers. 

Allah is the Beneficent, and He loves the beneficent

Charity is not just recommended by Islam, it is required of every financially stable Muslim. 

Giving charity to those who deserve it is part of Muslim character and one of the Five Pillars of Islamic practice. 

Islam encourages the sharing of wealth with others and helps people to stand on their own and become productive members of the society.

The whole concept of wealth is considered in Islam as a gift from Allah.  Allah, who provided it to the person, made a portion of it for the poor, so the poor have a right over one’s wealth.

The verse 2:195 means:

Spend your wealth for the cause of Allah,

Spend for the sake of Allah

Spend in the way of Allah

Spend your wealth in obedience of Allah

And be not cast by your own hands to ruin

Cast not your own hands, yourselves into destruction, by withholding your money

Do not refrain from giving in His cause lest you ruin yourselves.

Do not be the cause of your own ruin

Do not despair of Allah’s mercy lest you ruin yourselves

And do good by spending in the cause of Allah

Have a good opinion about Allah;

Be good in your spending in the way of Allah.

Be virtuous, by spending etc.;

Allah loves the beneficent who spend in His cause

Allah loves the virtuous, that is, He rewards them.

Allah is the Kind and He loves the kind.

The verse 2:195 in four different translations

QARIB:

Spend in the way of Allah and do not cast into destruction with your own hands. Be good doers; Allah loves the good doers.

SHAKIR:

And spend in the way of Allah and cast not yourselves to perdition with your own hands, and do good (to others); surely Allah loves the doers of good

PICKTHAL:

Spend your wealth for the cause of Allah, and be not cast by your own hands to ruin; and do good. lo! Allah loveth the beneficent.

YUSUFALI:

And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (35) the Best Tidings

Allah has revealed to King David: O David, go and give the sinners good tidings that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful. Furthermore, the best tiding for the sinners is found in the verse 39:53 of the Noble Quran.

It is narrated that he clan of the Prophet Muhammad, went to him and said: ‘We have committed enormous sins’,

The Prophet Muhammad then answered them with something. When they left, this Ayaha was revealed; it says:

 

And when those who believe in our revelations come to you, say, to them: ‘

Peace be upon you. Your Lord has prescribed for Himself mercyn to the effect that, truly whoever of you does evil in ignorance, of it when he did it, and repents thereafter, after his deed, and makes amends, in his actions — truly Allah is Forgiving, Merciful’, towards him.

In other words, whoso of you does evil sins through ignorance intentionally even though he did not know its due punishment and repents of this sin in relation to that which is between him and his Lord, for him verily! Allah is forgiving; He overlooks sins, and Allah is the Merciful towards him who repents.

 

It is narrated that Allah revealed to David: O David,

  • Whoever knows Me, desires Me;
  • Whoever desires Me, loves Me;
  • Whoever loves Me, seeks Me out;
  • Whoever seeks Me out, finds Me; and
  • Whoever finds Me, preserves Me in his heart

O David, go and give the sinners good tidings!

Give the sinners the good tidings that I am the Forgiving.

 

Furthermore, the best tidings for the sinners were found in the verse 39:53 of the Noble Quran.

The verses 6:54 in different translations

 

QARIB:

When those who believe in our verses come to you, say: ‘peace be upon you. your Lord has decreed mercy on himself, if any one of you commits evil through ignorance, and then repents, and mends his ways, then he is forgiving, the most merciful. ‘

 

SHAKIR:

And when those who believe in our communications come to you, say: peace be on you, your Lord has ordained mercy on himself, (so) that if any one of you does evil in ignorance, then turns after that and acts aright, then he is forgiving, merciful

 

PICKTHAL:

and when those who believe in our revelations come unto thee, say: peace be unto you! Your Lord hath prescribed for himself mercy, that whoso of you doeth evil through ignorance and repenteth afterward thereof and doeth right, (for him) lo! he is forgiving, merciful.

 

YUSUFALI:

When those come to thee who believe in our signs, say: “peace be on you: your Lord hath inscribed for himself (the rule of) mercy: verily, if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented, and amend (his conduct), lo! he is oft-forgiving, most merciful.

The verse 39:53: the best tiding for the sinners; it says:

 

QARIB:

Say: ‘o my worshipers, who have sinned excessively against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah, surely, Allah forgives all sins. He is the forgiver, the most merciful.

 

SHAKIR:

Say: o my servants! Who have acted extravagantly against their own souls, do not despair of the mercy of Allah; surely Allah forgives the faults altogether; surely he is the forgiving the merciful.

 

PICKTHAL:

Say: o my slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, who forgiveth all sins. lo! he is the forgiving, the merciful.

 

YUSUFALI:

Say: “o my servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for he is oft-forgiving, most merciful.

Chapter 50 of the Quran (18) Suicidal Rate Here and There

It is said that the regular prayers are the Muslims’ relief from depression, sadness, despair, angry, irritability etc.  For this reason, the suicidal rate and tendency in the poor Muslims’ community is extremely low in comparison to the wealthy non-Muslims’ community.

In the previous article, The Jews came to the Prophet Muhammad and asked him about the creation of the heavens and earth.

He said to them: Allah has created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six days.

 

The Jews said: ‘you would have answered correctly, if you added: and then He rested on the seventh day, the Sabbath’.

Upon hearing that, the Prophet Muhammad was furious.

The Prophet Muhammad was very angry upon hearing that.

It is a great insult to Allah when one says that He rested or rests or will rest.

 

But, what Allah has commanded His Prophet Muhammad to do in order to get rid of his angry?

Allah commanded him to tolerate what the Jews said.

 

The verse 50:39 says:

 

Therefore, O Muhammad, bear with what they say and bear with the lies of the Jews.

So endure patiently what the Jews say about Allah rested on the seventh day.

And glorify with praise of your Lord,

Perform prayers with praise of your Lord, before the rising of the sun,

In other words, perform the Morning Prayer, and before the sunset, that is to say, perform both the midday and the afternoon prayers; and hymn the praise of your Lord.

This means that performing the regular prayers is an effective way to get rid of angry.

 

In addition, the verse 50:40 says:

 

And glorify your Lord at night; hymn His praise when you perform the two evening prayers,

And glorify your Lord after prostrations.

In other words, perform supererogatory prayers after the obligatory ones.

It is also said that it means the actual uttering of glorifications at these times, with continuous praise.

 

It is said that the regular prayers are the Muslims’ relief from depression, sadness, despair, angry, furiousness, irritability etc.  For this reason, the suicidal rate and tendency in the poor Muslims’ community is extremely low in comparison to the wealthy non-Muslims’ community.

The verses 50:39-40 in different translations

 

QARIB:

39) Bear then with patience what they say. Exalt with the praise of your Lord before sunrise and before sunset.

40) And exalt him in the night, and at the ends of the prostrations.

 

SHAKIR:

39) Therefore be patient of what they say, and sing the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting

40) And glorify him in the night and after the prayers

 

PICKTHAL:

39) Therefor (o Muhammad) bear with what they say, and hymn the praise of thy Lord before the rising and before the setting of the sun;

40) And in the night-time hymn his praise, and after the (prescribed) prostrations.

 

YUSUFALI:

39) Bear, then, with patience, all that they say, and celebrate the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting.

40) And during part of the night, (also,) celebrate his praises, and (so likewise) after the postures of adoration.
