The meaning of verse 7:70
Aad’s people (especially the leaders) said unto Hood:
Have you come to us that we should worship Allah alone, and forsake and abandon what our fathers worshipped? And abandon the many gods that our fathers worshipped?
If you are of the truthful in what you say, Then bring upon us what you promised us of chastisement.
The meaning of verse 7:71
Hood said:
Already, terror, chastisement, and wrath from your Lord have fallen (and must be sent down) on you, have been decreed upon you.
Do you dispute with me concerning just names which you and your fathers, have named idols that you worship.
Allah has not revealed any warrant, any definitive argument or any scripture or proof about your gods, idols and or names.
You are waiting for the punishment, then await the chastisement.
Truly I shall be waiting with you, for that, on account of your denial of me:
N.B.: a blighting wind was unleashed against them and get rid of all the disbelievers [see verse 51:4].
But what happened to Hood and the believers?
The meaning of verse 7:72
Allah saved and delivered Hood and those with him, from among the believers by His mercy and,
Allah cut the root of those who denied His revelations; Allah exterminated those who denied His Scripture and His Messenger Hood.
