Atheists in Quran (46) Historical Miracle

The first human beings worshiped Satan were the Waldenses, Vallenses or Vaudois; these are names for a Christian movement, which started in Lyon, France and spread soon to the Cottian Alps in the late 1170s. However, the Quran is the first book on the Earth that mention the fact that man one day will worship Satan. Is this Historical miracle is one of the many miracles of the Quran or what?

The verses 36:59-64 dwells on the scene of reckoning faced by the Atheists and unbelievers with all that it involves of criticism and blame. The verses say:

“But stand aside today, you guilty ones!

Children of Adam!

  • Did I not enjoin on you that you should not worship Satan, as he is your open foe?
  • And that You should worship Me alone? This is the straight path.
  • He (Satan) had already led astray a great many of you.
  • Could you not, then, use your reason?

This, then, is the hell that Our messengers were repeatedly warned you against:

Endure it today for your persistent rejection [of the truth].”

In these verses, we see that Scorn and Derision mark the dealing they receive.

At first, Allah commands them to stand aside, away from the believers.

Allah will say to them

  • Stand apart, O you sinners, guilty, unbelievers
  • Separate yourselves from the believers

Then, Allah addressed them as ‘Children of Adam,’ which is an address implying reproach.

“Children of Adam! Did I not enjoin on you that you should not worship Satan, as he is your open foe?”

Did I not charge you and command you, O children of Adam, by the tongues of My repeated messengers, and in the Scripture brought by the Messengers

  • That you should not worship Satan,
  • That you should not obey Satan
  • That Satan is a manifest enemy to you, one whose enmity is quite evident,

It was Satan who caused the expulsion of their father, Adam, from heaven. He has declared his permanent enmity to Adam and his children, yet they continue to worship him.

On the other hand, Children of Adam were enjoined to do something that was certain to set them on a straight path, leading to Allah’s pleasure and a happy end in the Afterlife:

“You should worship Me alone. This is the straight path.”

They are reminded that this enemy led astray many generations.

For verily Satan has led astray from a great multitude of people before you and from among you

Did you not know what Satan did to them, and hence avoid following their path?

Did you not use to comprehend his enmity and his misguidance?

Did you not use to comprehend the chastisements that befell them in the life of this world?

Moreover, Allah will say to them in the Hereafter:

This is Hell, which Allah’ messengers have promised you!

Burn therein today [as chastisement] for that which you used to reject!’

Burn therein today because of your denial of the Scriptures and the messengers.

Hence, the pretentious question for them:

“Could you not, then, use your reason?”

At the end of this very hard and humiliating position, the dreaded sentence continues, given in connotations of reproach and derision:

“This, then, is the hell that you were repeatedly warned against: endure it today for your persistent rejection of the truth.”

We know that Allah revealed the Quran unto the Prophet Muhammad via the great Angel Gabriel more than 1400 years ago.

At the time of the Prophet Muhammad, Humankind has never ever heard about worshipping of Satan.

As far as I know, the first human beings worshiped Satan were the Waldenses, Vallenses or Vaudois. Those are names for a Christian movement, which started in Lyon, France and spread soon to the Cottian Alps in the late 1170s.

In 1179, they gained the attention of the Church and were accused of worshipping Satan.

Hence, the Quran is the first book on the Earth that mention the fact that man one day will worship Satan.

Is this Historical miracle is one of the many miracles of the Quran or what?

The verses 36:59-64vin different translations:

QARIB:

59-(And he will say): ‘distance yourselves, o sinners, this day.

60-Children of Adam, did I not make a covenant with you, that you should not worship Satan he is surely a clear enemy to you

61-And that you worship me? Surely, that is the straight path.

62-Yet he has led many a host of you astray, did you not understand?

63-This, then is gehenna (hell), that which you were promised.

64-Roast well therein this day for you were unbelievers. ‘

SHAKIR:

59-And get aside today, o guilty ones!

60-did I not charge you, o children of Adam! That you should not serve the Shaitan? Surely, he is your open enemy,

61-And that you should serve me; this is the right way

62-And certainly he led astray numerous people from among you. What! Could you not then understand?

63-This is the hell with which you were threatened

64-Enter into it this day because you disbelieved

PICKTHAL:

59-But avaunt ye, o ye guilty, this day!

60-Did i not charge you, o ye sons of Adam, that ye worship not the devil – lo! He is your open foe! –

61-But that ye worship me? That was the right path.

62-Yet he hath led astray of you a great multitude. Had ye then no sense?

63-This is hell which ye were promised (if ye followed him).

64-Burn therein this day for that ye disbelieved.

YUSUFALI:

59-“And o ye in sin! Get ye apart this day!

60-“Did I not enjoin on you, o ye children of Adam, that ye should not worship Satan; for that he was to you an enemy avowed?-

61-“And that ye should worship me, (for that) this was the straight way?

62-“But he did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did ye not, then, understand?

63-“This is the hell of which ye were (repeatedly) warned!

64-“Embrace ye the (fire) this day, for that ye (persistently) rejected (truth).”

Many people do not know Allah. This series is an attempt to help them in order to know and acknowledge their Creator.

Verses 7:87-89 of the Noble Quran talk about:

1) The productive debate between the Prophet Shuayb and the Leaders of Madyan,

2) Allah is the best of deciders, the best of adjudicators,

3) Allah’s knowledge embraces all things; He knows everything,

4) The believers could not convert unless Allah takes away the knowledge from their hearts and

5) Allah is the best of judges, the fairest of them.

In the previous article, the Prophet Shuayb said unto the people of Madyan (Midian):O my people,

worship Allah! you have no god other than Him,

give full measure and weight and do not diminish the value of people’s goods, and do not work corruption in the earth,

Do not Lurk on every road that people use to threaten, scare and take the clothes of strangers, and to turn away the believers from Allah’s path.

And remember when you were but few, and then Allah multiplied you. And behold what was the end of the agents of corruption, before you, for denying their messengers, that is, behold how destruction was the conclusion of their affair.

Then, Shuayb said unto them:

The meaning of verse 7:87

And if there is a party of you who believe in that with which I have been sent, and a party who do not believe, in it, then have patience and wait until Allah judges between us and you, by delivering the affirmer of this truth and destroying the denier of it. Allah is the best of judges, the fairest of them.

 

The meaning of verse 7:88

The chieftains of Madyan, who were scornful and disdainful towards believing said:

‘Surely we will expel you, O Shuayb, and those who believe with you, from our township, unless you return to embrace our creed, our religion

(herein, the plural person  predominates over the singular in their address [to Shuayb] because Shuayb was never part of their religious community; and so in the same [plural] way Shuayb responded.

Shuayb said:

‘What, should we return to it, even though we are averse, to it? Even though we hate it?) would you force us to do this even though we hate it?

(the interrogative herein is meant as a disavowal).

 

The meaning of verse 7:89

The Prophet Shuayb continued:

We would be forging a lie against Allah if we were to return to your creed after Allah has delivered us from it.

We should have invented a falsehood against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah has rescued us from it

It is not, right, for us to return to it, unless Allah our Lord wills that [it be so] and forsakes us.

In other words, it is not permissible for us to embrace your religion: associating others with Allah unless Allah takes away the knowledge from our hearts.

Our Lord embraces all things through His knowledge, that is to say, His knowledge embraces all things, including my situation and yours. In Allah we have put our trust.

Then Shuayb prayed:

Our Lord, decide with truth, adjudicate with justice, between us and our people, for You are the best of deciders’, adjudicators; for You are the best of those who make decision, the best of judges.

Verses 7: 7:87-89 in different English translations of the meanings of Arabic Quran:

QARIB:

87) If there are some among you who believe in that which i have been sent and others who disbelieve it, be patient until Allah shall judge between us. he is the best of judges. ‘

88) The proud assembly of his nation said: ‘we will expel you shu’aib and those who believe with you from our village unless you return to our creed. ‘ he replied: ‘even though we hate it?

89) We would have invented lies about Allah if we returned to your creed from which Allah has saved us, it is not for us that we return into it again except if Allah, our Lord wills. for our Lord has embraced everything with knowledge, and in Allah we have put our trust. our Lord, open between us and our nation with truth, you are the best of openers. ‘

 

SHAKIR:

87) And if there is a party of you who believe in that with which am sent, and another party who do not believe, then wait patiently until Allah judges between us; and he is the best of the judges

88) The chiefs, those who were proud from among his people said: we will most certainly turn you out, o shu’aib, and (also; those who believe with you, from our town, or you shall come back to our faith. he said: what! though we dislike (it)?

89) Indeed we shall have forged a lie against Allah if we go back to your religion after Allah has delivered us from it, and it befits us not that we should go back to it, except if Allah our Lord please: our Lord comprehends all things :n his knowledge; in Allah do we trust: our Lord! decide between us and our people with truth; and thou art the best of deciders

 

PICKTHAL:

87) And if there is a party of you which believeth in that wherewith i have been sent, and there is a party which believeth not, then have patience until Allah judge between us. he is the best of all who deal in judgment.

88) The chieftains of his people, who were scornful, said: surely we will drive thee out, o shu’eyb, and those who believe with thee, from our township, unless ye return to our religion. he said: even though we hate it?

89) We should have invented a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah hath rescued us from it. it is not for us to return to it unless Allah our Lord should (so) will. our Lord comprehendeth all things in knowledge. in Allah do we put our trust. our Lord! decide with truth between us and our folk, for thou art the best of those who make decision.

 

YUSUFALI:

87) “And if there is a party among you who believes in the message with which i have been sent, and a party which does not believe, hold yourselves in patience until Allah doth decide between us: for he is the best to decide.

88) The leaders, the arrogant party among his people, said: “o shu’aib! we shall certainly drive thee out of our city – (thee) and those who believe with thee; or else ye (thou and they) shall have to return to our ways and religion.” he said: “what! even though we do detest (them)?

89) “We should indeed invent a lie against Allah, if we returned to your ways after Allah hath rescued us therefrom; nor could we by any manner of means return thereto unless it be as in the will and plan of Allah, our Lord. our Lord can reach out to the utmost recesses of things by his knowledge. in the Allah is our trust. our Lord! decide thou between us and our people in truth, for thou art the best to decide.”

This is Allah (6) how Allah introduces Himself

Does Allah Sleep? No! Never Ever

Allah did not sleep, does not sleep, shall not sleep, will not sleep. Never Ever

 

What is the beginning of Allah?

Has Allah a beginning? He has neither beginning nor end.

 

Does Slumber seize Allah?

Allah is the Everlasting and the Eternal Sustainer, Slumber does not seize Him.

 

Do the Angels or anyone save Allah know when the Day of Judgment is?

The angels and/or anyone save Allah do not know when will be the Day of Judgment.

The meaning of verse 2:255 of the Noble Quran

In this verse, Allah made it simple for man to know Him. He introduces himself and says:

Allah, There is no God save Him, there is none worthy of being worshipped in all existence, except Him, the Living, the Everlasting, the Eternal Sustainer, Who dies not, the Self-existent Who has no beginning; the One constantly engaged in the management of His creation.  Slumber does not seize Him, neither sleep.

to Him belongs all that is in the heavens of angels and all that is in the earth of created beings, as possessions, creatures and servants; Who is he that intercedes with Him from amongst the dwellers of the heavens and the earth on the Day of Judgment save by His leave? Except by His command?  Who is there, that is to say, none is there, that shall intercede with Him save by His leave?, in this for him. He knows what lies before them, that is, creation, and what is after them, of the affairs of this world and the Hereafter; and they encompass nothing of His knowledge, that is, they know nothing of what He knows, save such as He wills, to inform of it by way of His messengers. The angels know nothing of the Hereafter or of the life of this world save that which Allah has taught them.

His throne subsumes the heavens and the earth, it is said that His knowledge encompasses them both; it is also said that the preserving of the heavens and the earth, wearies Him not, does not burden Him; He is the Sublime, above His creation by virtue of His subjugation of them, He is the Tremendous, the Great.

QARIB:

Allah, there is no god except he, the living, the everlasting. Neither dozing, nor sleep overtakes him. to him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Who is he that shall intercede with him except by his permission! he knows what will be before their hands and what was behind them, and they do not comprehend anything of his knowledge except what he willed. His seat embraces the heavens and the earth, and the preserving of them does not weary him. he is the high, the great.

 

SHAKIR:

Allah is he besides whom there is no god, the everliving, the self-subsisting by whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is his; who is he that can intercede with him but by his permission? he knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of his knowledge except what he pleases, his knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires him not, and he is the most high, the great

 

PICKTHAL:

Allah! There is no deity save him, the alive, the eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh him. Unto him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. who is he that intercedeth with him save by his leave? he knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of his knowledge save what he will. his throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and he is never weary of preserving them. he is the sublime, the tremendous.

 

YUSUFALI:

Allah! There is no god but he,-the living, the self-subsisting, eternal. No slumber can seize him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in his presence except as he permitteth? he knoweth what (appeareth to his creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of his knowledge except as he willeth. His throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and he feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for he is the most high, the supreme (in glory).

This is Allah (5) He is the only God, He knows everything

Many people do not know Allah.

Indeed your God, the Almighty Creator, is only Allah,

Allah is the only One true God, than whom there is no other god. 

He has no children or partners.

He embraces all things and everything in His knowledge.  

He knows all things e.g. He knows what will happen in their forthcoming of the affairs of the Afterlife, and they have no knowledge of such things.

 

In the Noble Quran, verse 20:98 says:

Indeed your God is only Allah, the One, than whom there is no other god.

He has no children or partners.

He has no equal(s) or co-equal(s). 

He embraces all things in His knowledge.

He knows all things.

He knows what you say and what you hide

His knowledge embraces all things

 

In addition, verse 20:110 says:

Allah knows all that is before them

He knows all that is before the angels regarding the matter of the Hereafter.

And He knows all that is behind them regarding the matter of this worldly life.

While they cannot compass it in knowledge

The angels know of that which is before them or behind them only in the measure that Allah teaches them.

In other words, Allah knows what is before them, of the affairs of the Hereafter, and behind them, of the affairs of this world,

And they do not comprehend such things in knowledge.

They have no knowledge of such things.

 

Verses 20:98 and 20:110 in different English translations:

 

Verse 20:98  

QARIB:

Your god is only one, Allah. There is no god, except he, alone. his knowledge encompasses all things.

SHAKIR:

Your Allah is only Allah, there is no god but he; he comprehends all things in (his) knowledge

PICKTHAL:

Your Allah is only Allah, than whom there is no other Allah. He embraceth all things in his knowledge.

YUSUFALI:

But the god of you all is the one Allah: there is no god but he: all things he comprehends in his knowledge.

 

Verse 20:110 

QARIB:

He knows what is before them and behind them, and they do not comprehend him in knowledge.

SHAKIR:

He knows what is before them and what is behind them, while they do not comprehend it in knowledge

PICKTHAL:

He knoweth (all) that is before them and (all) that is behind them, while they cannot compass it in knowledge.

YUSUFALI:

He knows what (appears to his creatures as) before or after or behind them: but they shall not compass it with their knowledge.
