Many people do not know Allah. This series is an attempt to help them in order to know their Creator.

Verses 7:23-25 of the Noble Quran talk about:
1) Did Allah forgive Adam and Eve?

In the previous article, Satan did lead both Adam and Eve on, to eat from the tree with lies until they ate from it. Then their nakedness was manifest to them and they began out of shame to hide by heaping on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden. And Allah called them: O Adam and Eve, saying: Did I not forbid you from that tree? Verily Satan is a manifest enemy to you?  Then what Adam and Eve said when they realized that they disobeyed Allah?

 

The meaning of verse 7:23

They said, ‘Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, by our act of disobedience, we have harmed ourselves by transgressing, and if You do not forgive us, if You do not overlook our transgression and have not mercy on us by not punishing us, surely we are of the lost!  We shall be of those duped into receiving punishment.

Allah, the Merciful forgave them and said:

 

The meaning of verse 7:24

He said: Go down from hence, that is, Adam and Eve, with all those you comprise of your seed, each of you, each seed, an enemy to the other, on account of the wrong each does to the another. There will be for you on earth an abode, a place of settlement, and enjoyment for a while’, until your terms of life are fulfilled. In other words, There will be for you on earth a habitation, a dwelling and shelter and provision for a while until death.

 

The meaning of verse 7:25

Allah said: ‘There, that is, on earth, you shall live, and there you shall die, and from there you shall be brought forth’, through the Resurrection on the Day of Judgment.

 

How Did Allah forgive both Adam and Eve?

This was the first sin of mankind.

Adam did not know what to do? He did not know how to ask Allah for forgiveness.

Of course, Allah, the Merciful, knew that.

Adam received certain words from Allah, with which He inspired him.

That words came to Adam, and these were: we have wronged ourselves with which Adam and Eve supplicated, and Allah relented to them, that is, Allah accepted their repentance; He forgave them; truly Allah is the Relenting, to His servants, the Merciful, to them. He is the One Who overlooks misdeeds.

That words of Adam became a way for him and his progeny to repentance.

This story tells us how to ask our Creator for forgiveness.

The process of forgiveness should go directly between you and your Creator without any “in-between”. Allah is the Forgiver, the Relenting, and the Merciful, and you are the sinful.

Verses 7:23-25in different English translations of the meanings of Arabic Quran:

QARIB:

23) Both replied: ‘lord, we have harmed ourselves. if you do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall surely be among the lost. ‘

24) He said: ‘descend, each of you an enemy to each other. the earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time.

25) He said: ‘there you shall live and there you shall die, and from there you shall emerge. ‘

 

SHAKIR:

23) They said: our lord! we have been unjust to ourselves, and if thou forgive us not, and have (not) mercy on us, we shall certainly be of the losers

24) He said: get forth, some of you, the enemies of others, and there is for you in the earth an abode and a provision for a time

25) He (also) said: therein shall you live, and therein shall you die, and from it shall you be raised

 

PICKTHAL:

23) They said: our lord! we have wronged ourselves. if thou forgive us not and have not mercy on us, surely we are of the lost!

24) He said: go down (from hence), one of you a foe unto the other. there will be for you on earth a habitation and provision for a while.

25) He said: there shall ye live, and there shall ye die, and thence shall ye be brought forth.

 

YUSUFALI:

23) They said: “our lord! we have wronged our own souls: if thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us thy mercy, we shall certainly be lost.”

24) (Allah) said: “get ye down. with enmity between yourselves. on earth will be your dwelling-place and your means of livelihood,- for a time.”

25) He said: “therein shall ye live, and therein shall ye die; but from it shall ye be taken out (at last).”

 

And the verse 2:37 shows how did Allah forgive both Adam and Eve?

QARIB:

then Adam received words from his lord, and his lord relented towards him. he is the receiver of repentance, the merciful.

SHAKIR:

then Adam received (some) words from his lord, so he turned to him mercifully; surely he is oft-returning (to mercy), the merciful

PICKTHAL:

then Adam received from his lord words (of revelation), and he relented toward him. lo! he is the relenting, the merciful.

YUSUFALI:

then learnt Adam from his lord words of inspiration, and his lord turned towards him; for he is oft-returning, most merciful.

Allah loves (8) those who Judge in Equity

Do not follow the Consumers of unlawful gain

How to Judge between those who utter words of falsehood

How to Judge between the Listeners to Calumny

We have seen that Allah loves

(1) the kind good doers,

(2) those who turn to him and those who are Clean and Pure,

(3) those who guard against evil,

(4) those who put their Trust in Him,

5) those who are firm and steadfast,

6) the virtuous and

7) the charitable, and.

In this article, Allah loves those who judge in equity.

Verse 5:42 says that Allah loves those who judge in equity.

The verse describes a type of non Muslims people who are:

  • Listeners to calumny
  • Consumers of unlawful gain
  • Greedy for illicit gain!
  • Corrupted and follow what is unlawful and
  • Changing the rulings of Allah

In this verse, Allah Commands not to follow them, and to judge between in equity according to the Law of Allah in their Scripture.

The verse 5:42 states that:

O Messenger Muhammad! Do not let them grieve you who vie one with another in the race to disbelief

Do not follow them

They are, listeners to calumny

They utter words for the sake of falsehood!

They are consumers of unlawful gain that which is illicit, such as bribes.

They are Greedy for illicit gain!

They are corrupted and follow what is unlawful and

They are changing the rulings of Allah.

If they come to you, to judge between them, then judge between them or turn away from them.

If then they have recourse unto thee O Muhammad, judge between them or disclaim jurisdiction by choice.

If you disclaim jurisdiction and do not judge between them, (then they cannot harm thee at all) they cannot take away anything from you.

If you turn away from them, they cannot harm you at all; and if you judge, between them, then judge justly between them;

But if you judge between them, judge between them with equity, with stoning the married people who commit adultery.

Lo! Allah loves the equitable, who are fair when they judge with the Book of Allah and who apply the legal ruling of stoning.

Allah loves the just, those that judge fairly, meaning that He will reward them.

Verse 5:42 in different translations:

QARIB:

They are listeners to lies and devourers of the unlawful. If they come to you, judge between them or turn away from them. If you avoid them they cannot harm you in anything; but if you judge, judge between them with fairness. Allah loves the just.

SHAKIR:

(they are) listeners of a lie, devourers of what is forbidden; therefore if they come to you, judge between them or turn aside from them, and if you turn aside from them, they shall not harm you in any way; and if you judge, judge between them with equity; surely Allah loves those who judge equitably.

PICKTHAL:

Listeners for the sake of falsehood! Greedy for illicit gain! If then they have recourse unto thee (Muhammad) judge between them or disclaim jurisdiction. If thou disclaimest jurisdiction, then they cannot harm thee at all. but if thou judgest, judge between them with equity. lo! Allah loveth the equitable.

Allah does not love (15) the extravagant

The Quran says: Pay the due of your fruit upon the harvest day,

We have seen that Allah does not love the disbelievers, the arrogant, those who reject faith, the proud and the boastful, any swaggering braggart strutting in his steps, the harm doers, any vainglorious prideful boasters, those that do wrong, the unjust, the impious and guilty, the unfaithful and ungrateful, the transgressors, those who exceed the limits and the farthest who trespass beyond bounds.   In this article, that Allah does not love the extravagant.

The meanings of verse 6:141 of the Noble Quran:

Verse 6:141says:

And He (Allah), it is Who produces, creates gardens, orchards,

Trellised, extending along the ground, as in the case of watermelons, vines and other vegetations that spread out: i.e. not resting on trunks

And untrellised that which rests on trunks, rising upwards on a stem, such as palm-trees, walnuts and almonds,

And, He produces, palm-trees, the date palm, and crops of divers flavor sweetness sourness and flavor

And the olive and He created the olive tree.

Some are diverse in the shape and savor of its fruit and seed, and olives, and pomegranates, alike, in terms of their ‘alike’, is a circumstantial qualifier and unlike, in terms of their savor. 

And the pomegranate, of pomegranate trees,

They are alike in color and appearance and unlike in taste.

Eat you of the fruit thereof when it ripens, before its maturity [passes], and pay the due thereof, the alms as appropriate, on the day of its harvest

Eat of the fruit of the palm tree when it fruits, when it ripens,

And pay the due thereof upon the harvest day,

That is, one tenth or half of it, and do not be prodigal, by giving it all away, so that nothing remains for [the consumption of] your dependants.

And do not be prodigal

Truly, God does not love the prodigal, who overstep [the bounds of] that which He has delimited for them.

Do not spend in disobedience of Allah nor prevent the obedience of Allah;

Lo! Allah does not love the prodigals, those who spend in disobedience of Allah;

Verse 6:141 in different translations

QARIB:

He brings forth gardens, trellised and untrellised, palmtrees and crops, different to eat, and the olive and pomegranates alike and unlike. when it bears fruit eat of it and pay what is due (the zakat) of it upon the harvest day. but do not be wasteful; he does not love the wasteful.

SHAKIR:

and he it is who produces gardens (of vine), trellised and untrellised, and palms and seed-produce of which the fruits are of various sorts, and olives and pomegranates, like and unlike; eat of its fruit when it bears fruit, and pay the due of it on the day of its reaping, and do not act extravagantly; surely he does not love the extravagant

PICKTHAL:

He it is who produceth gardens trellised and untrellised, and the date-palm, and crops of divers flavour, and the olive and the pomegranate, like and unlike. eat ye of the fruit thereof when it fruiteth, and pay the due thereof upon the harvest day, and be not prodigal. lo! Allah loveth not the prodigals.

YUSUFALI:

it is he who produceth gardens, with trellises and without, and dates, and tilth with produce of all kinds, and olives and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in variety): eat of their fruit in their season, but render the dues that are proper on the day that the harvest is gathered. but waste not by excess: for Allah loveth not the wasters.

Allah asks you (23) can your partners originate creation and repeat it?

The cycling and recycling of the creation in the Quran

The Word of your Lord is justified concerning those who disbelieve

In the Noble Quran, Allah is asking mankind some important questions.

It seems compulsory for the serious one who is looking for the truth to have a look at those questions and if possible to answer them.

Allah’ questions are many. In this series, these questions are chosen randomly.

In verses 10:33-34, Allah asks mankind this question:

Is there of those whom you associate with your Lord one that can originate creation, then recreated it?

This is what we call today cycling and recycling of the creation e.g. of water, minerals, plants, fungi, microbes etc.

Allah produces creation then reproduces it, then brings it back to life on the Day of Judgment; wherein, the Word of your Lord is justified concerning those who disbelieve and will dwell in the Eternal Fire.

Verses 10:33-34 give the question of this article and talk about it

The meanings of the verses 10:33-34

Verse 10:33 says:

Thus, just as those are turned away from faith so, the Word of your Lord is justified concerning those who are wicked, those who disbelieve,

What is the Word of your Lord that is mentioned herein?

It is in the verse 32:13; it says:

Verily I shall fill Hell with jinn and mankind together, that they do not believe.

In other words, the verse says: thus is the Word of your Lord to impose His chastisement is justified, enjoined concerning those who do wrong, concerning the disbelievers who will dwell in the Eternal Fire: that they do not as it is in Allah’s foreknowledge.

 

Verse 10:34 says:

Say to them, O Muhammad:

Is there of those whom you associate with your Lord one that can originate creation, then recreated it?’

Is there of your partners, your idols whom you ascribe unto Allah one that produces Creation e.g. from a sperm drop and imbues it with the spirit and then reproduces it after death, on the Day of Judgment?

If they answer you, fine, if not Say: Allah produces creation from a sperm drop, then reproduces it; then brings back to life on the Day of Judgment.

How then are you deviated? turned away from worshipping Him, despite proof having been established.

How then, are you misled, from whence you invent lies?

It is also said that this means: See, O Muhammad, how they are misled by lies!

It is interesting that this verse is talking about the creation and the repetition of the creation.

This is what we call today cycling and recycling of the creation.

It is well known from the scientific point of view that the cycling and recycling of the creation is the key for continuation of life on the earth.

Cycling occurs for almost everything on the earth e.g. water, minerals, plants, fungi, microbes etc.

Verses 10:33-34 in different translations:

QARIB:

33) So the word of your lord is realized against the evildoers that they do not believe.

34) Say: ‘is there any (among) your associates who originates creation, then cause it to be revived yet again? ‘Say: ‘Allah, he originates creation, then revives it yet again. How is it that you are so perverted? ‘

SHAKIR:

33) Thus does the word of your lord prove true against those who transgress that they do not believe

34) Say: is there any one among your associates who can bring into existence the creation in the first instance, then reproduce it? Say: Allah brings the creation into existence, then he reproduces it; how are you then turned away?

PICKTHAL:

33) Thus is the word of thy lord justified concerning those who do wrong: that they believe not.

34) Say: is there of your partners (whom ye ascribe unto Allah) one that produceth creation and then reproduceth it? Say: Allah produceth creation, then reproduceth it. How then, are ye misled!

YUSUFALI:

33) Thus is the word of thy lord proved true against those who rebel: verily they will not believe.

34) Say: “of your ‘partners’, can any originate creation and repeat it?” say: “it is Allah who originates creation and repeats it: then how are ye deluded away (from the truth)?”

Chapter 6 of the Quran (110) the Orphan’s Rights

Do not approach the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better, through protecting it and  making it grow; till he reach maturity and his legal age and  shows righteousness in his character.

Ayah 152 continues saying:

And do not approach the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better, through protecting it and  making it grow; till he reach maturity and his legal age and  shows righteousness in his character.

And give full measure and full weight, in justice, fairly, desisting from any fraud.

We do not charge any soul beyond its capacity, what it can bear in such [matters], so that if one makes a mistake in a measure or weight, and Allah knows that his intention had been well-meaning, then he suffers no blame, as is stated in one hadith of the Prophet Muhammad.

Allah does not task any soul upon measuring and weighing beyond its scope or beyond its effort to establish justice.  

And  if you speak a judgement or otherwise, then be just, by being truthful, even if he, the person receiving the statement or the one being accused in it, should be a kinsman.

In other words, if you give your word, do justice thereunto, be truthful, even though it be against a kinsman and you should be truthful and say what is true.

And fulfil Allah’s covenant.

This is what Allah has charged you with, that perhaps you will remember and you may heed the admonition.

QARIB:

Do not touch the wealth of the orphan, except in the fairer manner until he reaches maturity. Give just weight and full measure, we never charge a soul with more than it can bear. When you speak, be just, even if it affects your own kinsmen. Fulfill the covenant of Allah. With such he charges you, in order that you remember.

SHAKIR:

and do not approach the property of the orphan except in the best manner until he attains his maturity, and give full measure and weight with justice– we do not impose on any soul a duty except to the extent of its ability; and when you speak, then be just though it be (against) a relative, and fulfill Allah’s covenant; this he has enjoined you with that you may be mindful;

PICKTHAL:

and approach not the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better, till he reach maturity. Give full measure and full weight, in justice. we task not any soul beyond its scope. And if ye give your word, do justice thereunto, even though it be (against) a kinsman; and fulfill the covenant of Allah. This he commandeth you that haply ye may remember.

YUSUFALI:

and come not nigh to the orphan’s property, except to improve it, until he attain the age of full strength; give measure and weight with (full) justice;- no burden do we place on any soul, but that which it can bear;- whenever ye speak, speak justly, even if a near relative is concerned; and fulfill the covenant of Allah: thus doth he command you, that ye may remember.

The meaning of verse 7:19

And, Allah said, ‘O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, Eve, in the Garden, and eat from whence in Paradise you will, but do not come near this tree, to eat of it; lest you become evildoers and wrong-doers’.  In other words, do not eat from this tree lest you become of those who harm themselves.

The meaning of verse 7:20

Then Satan, Iblis, whispered to them that he might manifest, reveal, to them that which was hidden to them of their shameful parts by the attire of light (of their shame) of their nakedness. And he said, ‘Your Lord prohibited you from this tree only, in aversion, lest you become angels or become immortals’, in other words, that is the necessary consequence of eating from it, as is stated in another verse (20:120): Shall I guide you to the Tree of Immortality and a kingdom that does not waste away?

In other words, Iblis said to them: (Your Lord forbade you) O Adam and Eve (from this tree only lest ye should become angels) who teach good and evil in Paradise (or become of the immortals) in Paradise: this is why He forbade you to eat from the tree.

This indicates that Satan knows the man’s weak point and man loves to have kingdom and to be immortal

The meaning of verse 7:21

And he swore to both of them, that is, he swore to both of them by Allah, ‘Truly, I am a sincere adviser to you’, in this matter; in my oath that this is the tree of immortality.

The meaning of verse 7:22

Thus he did lead them on, to eat from the tree with guile, with falsehood and lies until they ate from it. Thus Satan did debase them in their status, by delusion, on his part.

And when they tasted of the tree their shame, their nakedness was manifest to them and they began out of shame to hide by heaping on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden.  In other words, their shameful parts were manifested to them, that is, the front private part of each was revealed to the other, as well as their behinds — each of these parts is called, ‘shameful’, because its exposure ‘shames’ that person, and they began to piece together, they began to stick, onto themselves some of the leaves of the Garden, to cover themselves up therewith.

And their Lord called them: O Adam and Eve, saying: Did I not forbid you from that tree, from eating of that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan, Iblis, is an open enemy to you whose enmity is quite manifest?

In other words, Allah called them: ‘Did I not prohibit you from this tree, and say to you, “Verily Satan is a manifest enemy to you”?’, one whose enmity is evident? Herein, the interrogative is meant as an affirmative.

19) ‘o Adam dwell with your wife in paradise, and eat from whatever you please; but never approach this tree or you shall both become harmdoers. ‘

20) But Satan whispered to them, so that he might reveal to them their shameful parts which had been hidden from them, he said: ‘your lord has prohibited you from this tree lest you both become angels or become among the immortal. ‘

21) He swore to both: ‘indeed, i am to you among the advisers. ‘

22) So he cheated both by delusion. and when they had tasted the tree, their shameful parts became apparent to them, and they both covered themselves with the leaves of paradise. (then) their lord called to them, saying: ‘did i not prohibit you to approach that tree, and did i not warn you that Satan was your clear enemy? ‘

 

SHAKIR:

19) And (we said): o Adam! dwell you and your wife in the garden; so eat from where you desire, but do not go near this tree, for then you will be of the unjust

20) But the shaitan made an evil suggestion to them that he might make manifest to them what had been hidden from them of their evil inclinations, and he said: your lord has not forbidden you this tree except that you may not both become two angels or that you may (not) become of the immortals

21) And he swore to them both: most surely i am a sincere adviser to you

22) Then he caused them to fall by deceit; so when they tasted of the tree, their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves of the garden; and their lord called out to them: did i not forbid you both from that tree and say to you that the shaitan is your open enemy?

 

PICKTHAL:

19) And (unto man): o Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the garden and eat from whence ye will, but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers.

20) Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: your lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.

21) And he swore unto them (saying): lo! i am a sincere adviser unto you.

22) Thus did he lead them on with guile. and when they tasted of the tree their shame was manifest to them and they began to hide (by heaping) on themselves some of the leaves of the garden. and their lord called them, (saying): did i not forbid you from that tree and tell you: lo! Satan is an open enemy to you?

 

YUSUFALI:

19) “o Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression.”

20) Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: “your lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever.”

21) And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser.

22) So by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tasted of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies. and their lord called unto them: “did i not forbid you that tree, and tell you that Satan was an avowed enemy unto you?”

Allah loves (7) the charitable

Who are Cautious and the Righteous and what is for them?

Be quick in the Race for Forgiveness from your Lord

We have seen that Allah loves those:

(1) the kind good doers,

(2) those who turn to him and those who are Clean and Pure, (3) those who guard against evil,

In this article, Allah loves the charitable.

Verse 3:134 says that Allah loves the charitable.

In order to appreciate verse 3:134, it is better to go through the three verses before it.

In verse 3:131, there is a warning for the disbelievers who reject faith.  It says: Guard yourselves against the fire prepared for unbelievers.

In verse 3:132, there is a commandment for those who are looking to have mercy.  It says: And obey Allah and the messenger (Muhammad); that ye may obtain mercy

Verse 3:133 mandates us to be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord and for a very wide garden (paradise) prepared for the cautious, the righteous and those who guard against evil

Then verse 3:134 tells us who are cautious, the righteous and those who guard against evil.

It is those who

  • Those who spend kindly in ease as well as in malevolently
  • Those who spend compassionately in prosperity as well as in adversity
  • Those who spend generously in benevolently as well as in hardship
  • Those who curb their anger
  • Who restrain anger
  • Those who control their wrath
  • Those who pardon the people
  • Those who forgive people
  • Those who are forgiving toward mankind
  • And Allah the doers of good to others
  • And Allah loves the charitable

The verses 3:131-134 in four translations

QARIB:

131) Guard yourselves against the fire prepared for unbelievers.

132) Obey Allah and the messenger in order to be subjected to mercy.

133) And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a paradise as wide as heaven and earth, prepared for the cautious

134) Who spend in prosperity and in adversity, for those who curb their anger and those who forgive people. and Allah loves the charitable

 

SHAKIR:

131) And guard yourselves against the fire which has been prepared for the unbelievers

132) And obey Allah and the messenger, that you may be shown mercy

133) And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord; and a garden, the extensiveness of which is (as) the heavens and the earth, it is prepared for those who guard (against evil)

134) Those who spend (benevolently) in ease as well as in straitness, and those who restrain (their) anger and pardon men; and Allah loves the doers of good (to others)

 

PICKTHAL:

131) And ward off (from yourselves) the fire prepared for disbelievers.

132) And obey Allah and the messenger, that ye may find mercy.

133) And vie one with another for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who ward off (evil);

134) Those who spend (of that which Allah hath given them) in ease and in adversity, those who control their wrath and are forgiving toward mankind; Allah loveth the good;

 

YUSUFALI:

131) Fear the fire, which is repaired for those who reject faith:

132) And obey Allah and the messenger; that ye may obtain mercy.

133) Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous,-

134) Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men; – for Allah loves those who do good;-

Allah does not love (14) the farthest who trespass beyond bounds

Call upon your Lord Humbly, Directly, Openly and in Secret

Allah is the Judge of people on the Day of Judgment

Do not corrupt if you are looking for the Lord’s Mercy

We have seen that Allah does not love the disbelievers, the arrogant, those who reject faith, the proud and the boastful, any swaggering braggart strutting in his steps, the harm doers, any vainglorious prideful boasters, those that do wrong, the unjust, the impious and guilty, the unfaithful and ungrateful, the transgressors and those who exceed the limits.   In this article, that Allah does not love the farthest who trespass beyond bounds.

The meanings of verses 7:54-56 of the Noble Quran:

 

Verse 7:54 says:

Lo! Your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days of the beginning of the life of this world, each day the equivalent of thousands of years, then,

He mounted the Throne; then He proceeded to create the Throne; it is also said that this means: He seated Himself on the Throne.

He coverts the night with the day and the day with the night, which is in haste to follow it i.e. the day is in haste to follow the night and the night is in haste to follow the day,

And He has made the sun and the moon and the stars subservient by His command by His leave.

His verily is all creation, the creation of the heavens and the earth and commandment.  

He is the judge of people on the Day of Judgment

Blessed be Allah, the Possessor of grace;

It is also said that this means: elevated is Allah; as it is said that this means: far exalted is Allah, the Lord of all the Worlds! The Master and Disposer of the Worlds

 

Verse 7:55 says:

O mankind! Call upon your Lord humbly openly and in secret

O mankind! Call upon your Lord humbly in subservience, and quietly, in secret

It is also said that this means: call upon your Lord humbly and out of fear.

Lo! Allah does not love the aggressors in their supplications, by calling for that which is not permissible for them against the righteous.

He does not love the aggressors, the farthest who trespass beyond bounds; who are braggarts and loud-mouthed in their supplications.

 

Verse 7:56 says:

And work not corruption in the land, through sins and invitation to other than Allah and acts of disobedience, after it has been set right, as a result of the sending forth of messengers to it,

And worship Him and call upon Him in fear, of His punishment, and in hope, of His mercy and that you shall enter His Paradise.

Surely the mercy of God, the Paradise of Allah is near to the virtuous, the obedient and the believers who are good in their words and works.

QARIB:

54) Your lord is Allah, who, in six days created the heavens and the earth, and then willed to the throne. He throws the veil of night over the day. Swiftly they follow one another. The sun, the moon, and the stars are compelled to his order. His is the creation, his is the command. Blessed is Allah, the lord of the worlds.

55) Supplicate to your lord with humility and in secret. he does not love the transgressors.

56) Do not make mischief in the earth after it has been put right. pray to him with fear and hope; his mercy is near to the righteous.

 

SHAKIR:

54) surely your lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six periods of time, and he is firm in power; he throws the veil of night over the day, which it pursues incessantly; and (he created) the sun and the moon and the stars, made subservient by his command; surely his is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, the lord of the worlds

55) Call on your lord humbly and secretly; surely he does not love those who exceed the limits

56) And do not make mischief in the earth after its reformation, and call on him fearing and hoping; surely the mercy of Allah is nigh to those who do good (to others)

 

PICKTHAL:

54) Lo! Your lord is Allah who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then mounted he the throne. He covereth the night with the day, which is in haste to follow it, and hath made the sun and the moon and the stars subservient by his command. his verily is all creation and commandment. Blessed be Allah, the lord of the worlds!

55) (O mankind!) call upon your lord humbly and in secret. lo! he loveth not aggressors.

56) Work not confusion in the earth after the fair ordering (thereof). And call on him in fear and hope. lo! the mercy of Allah is nigh unto the good.

 

YUSUFALI:

54) Your guardian-lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and is firmly established on the throne (of authority): he draweth the night as a veil o’er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: he created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under his command. is it not his to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the cherisher and sustainer of the worlds!

55) Call on your lord with humility and in private: for Allah loveth not those who trespass beyond bounds.

56) Do no mischief on the earth, after it hath been set in order, but call on him with fear and longing (in your hearts): for the mercy of Allah is (always) near to those who do good.

Allah asks you (22) who brings forth the living from the dead, and the dead from the living?

Allah asks you: Who provides for you from heaven and earth?

Allah asks you: Who owns the hearing and the sight?

Allah asks you: Who regulates and who directs the affairs?

Allah asks you: will you not be fearful?

Allah is your true established Lord; so what is there after truth except error?

In the Noble Quran, Allah is asking mankind some important questions.

It seems compulsory for the serious one who is looking for the truth to have a look at those questions and if possible to answer them.

Allah’ questions are many. In this series, these questions are chosen randomly.

In verse 10:31, Allah is asking the disbelievers these five questions

Who provides for you from heaven and earth? Who owns the hearing and the sight? Who brings forth the living from the dead? Who brings forth the dead from the living? Who regulates and who directs the affairs?

Interestingly, the ignorant disbeliever Arabs answered all of these questions and said: Allah does all of that.

Allah then says: ‘then, will you not be fearful? ‘

 

Verses 10:31-32 give the question of this article and talk about it

The meanings of the verses 10:31-32

Verse 10:31 says:

Say to the disbelievers O Muhammad:

Who provides for you, rain, out of the heaven, and, plants out of the earth, or

Who owns hearing, meaning the ability to make hear, that is, the creation of this faculty, and sight, i.e. who is able to create hearing and sight and

Who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and

Who directs and regulates the affairs between creatures?

Who can direct and look into the affairs of His servants and sends the angels with revelation, Scriptures and misfortunes?

They will surely say, ‘It is He, Allah.’

Then say to them O Muhammad:

Will ye not then keep your duty unto Him?

will you not then obey Allah?

‘Will you not then fear?’, Him, and believe?

 

Verse 10:32 says:

That, Doer of all these things, then is Allah, your rightful Lord, your true, established, Lord; the one who is able to do so is your Lord, Who is the Truth and whose worship is the Truth.

so what is there, after truth, except error? in other words, after the Truth what is there saving error; after worship of Allah what is your worship if not worship of the devil?

How then are you turned away, from faith, despite the proofs having been established?

How then are ye turned away; from whence do you invent lies about Allah!

32) Such then is Allah, your rightful lord. after the truth what is there saving error? how then are ye turned away!

 

YUSUFALI:

31) Say: “who is it that sustains you (in life) from the sky and from the earth? or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? and who is it that brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living? and who is it that rules and regulates all affairs?” they will soon say, “Allah”. say, “will ye not then show piety (to him)?”

32) Such is Allah, your real cherisher and sustainer: apart from truth, what (remains) but error? How then are ye turned away?

Chapter 6 of the Quran (109) the Sacred Duty

The Prophet Muhammad said to them: Come to hear what Allah has made a sacred duty for you, 1) you associate nothing with Allah, 2) be dutiful to your parents, 3) do not slay your children, 4) do not draw near any acts of lewdness, whether openly or in secret and 5) do not slay the life which Allah has made sacred.

In Ayah 6:151, Allah commanded His Prophet: Say O Muhammad to them; 

Come to hear, I will recite that which your Lord has made a sacred duty for you in the Scripture that was revealed to me:

That you associate nothing with Allah,

That you do not ascribe anything as partner unto Allah like partner, sons, wife, daughters, Angels, Jinn, idols etc

 

That you be dutiful to parents, you do good to them and be kind to them, and

That you do not slay your children, by burying them alive, because of poverty, destitution, that you may fear — Allah will provide for you and them — and

That you do not draw near any acts of lewdness, whether openly or in secret…Whether openly refers to that which it has been forbidden to do with the external bodily members such as fornication. Or in secret means the persistence in committing that act, and

That you do not slay the life which Allah has made sacred, save in the course of justice as a result of cases such as retaliation.

This, which is mentioned, is what Allah has charged you with that perhaps you will understand, reflect and recognize Allah’s divine Oneness

QARIB:

say: ‘come, i will recite to you what your lord forbids you; that you shall associate anything with him; that you shall be good to your pwerents, that you shall not kill your children because of poverty, we provide for you and for them, that you shall not commit foul deeds whether openly or in secret, and that you shall not kill the soul that Allah has forbidden except by right. with such Allah charges you, in order that you understand .

SHAKIR:

say: come i will recite what your lord has forbidden to you– (remember) that you do not associate anything with him and show kindness to your pwerents, and do not slay your children for (fear of) poverty– we provide for you and for them– and do not draw nigh to indecencies, those of them which were appwerent and those which were concealed, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except for the requirements of justice; this he has enjoined you with that you may understand

PICKTHAL:

say: come, i will recite unto you that which your lord hath made a sacred duty for you: that ye ascribe no thing as partner unto him and that ye do good to pwerents, and that ye slay not your children because of penury – we provide for you and for them – and that ye draw not nigh to lewd things whether open or concealed. And that ye slay not the life which Allah hath made sacred, save in the course of justice. this he hath command you, in order that ye may discern.

YUSUFALI:

say: “come, i will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from”: join not anything as equal with him; be good to your pwerents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- we provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth he command you, that ye may learn wisdom.
