Atheists in Quran (35) they are hasty

The Atheists try to hasten the punishment against which the Prophet Muhammad warns them. Sarcastically, they say, ‘When will this promise of resurrection and chastisement be fulfilled, if you are truthful O Muhammad?

The Quran says that 1) Man is a creature of haste; he is so hasty in his affairs and 2) Verily, messengers before you O Muhammad were derided but those who mocked them were encircled by the chastisement, which they used to deride; likewise, it shall befall those who have derided you.

———————————

The Arabs at the time of the Prophet Muhammad were one of two:

The unbelievers deny the existence of One God and they used to worship many idols as gods

The Atheists who deny the existence of any god

Both groups deny the Resuscitation, the Day of Judgment and the Afterlife

They deny the very existence of Allah, the Most Merciful, who has created the universe and set the rules that operate in it and sustain its existence.

Herein, a likely dispute is expected.

Allah’s Messenger Muhammad speaks out against their deities, showing such inanimate idols to be useless.

On the other hand, The Atheists and unbelievers rudely deny Allah and they hurl abuse and mockery at Allah’s Messenger, saying that it is unacceptable that he should criticize their idol worship. They find nothing wrong with the arrogance that leads them to

Deny Allah’s existence,

Deny Allah’s Messenger and

Reject Allah’s revelation, the Quran.

The sarcasm of their attitude exposes to the full the far- reaching corruption that affects their nature and impairs their judgment.

Whenever they see you O Muhammad, they take you in derision and pick you out for mockery

What is more stupid of them?

They try to hasten the punishment against which the Prophet warns them.

They say, ‘When will this promise of resurrection and chastisement be fulfilled, if you are truthful O Muhammad?

Man is a creature of haste; he is so hasty in his affairs

Haste is present in man’s very nature and constitution.

He always stretches his eyes to what lies ahead, beyond the present moment, aiming to grasp it with his own hand. He wants to achieve, the moment it flashes in his mind, all that seems desirable. He wants to see all that is promised to him, even though it may be to his damage. Such is man’s nature, unless he establishes a firm relationship with Allah, which gives him strength and reassurance. He will then trust to Allah’s wisdom, leaving His will to run its course without hastening events. For faith combines trust with patience and reassurance.

Those unbelievers hastened Allah’s punishment, wondering when the promise of punishment in the hereafter, as well as in this life, would be fulfilled.

The Quran paints here for them a scene of the suffering in the hereafter, while also warning them against a similar punishment to that which befell earlier communities, which rejected the faith

If the unbelievers only knew what shall happen to them:

They would change their attitude completely.

They would stop their mockery and hastening of what is bound to come.

Let them, then, see what is bound to come.

There, the fire surrounds them on all sides.

Nay, but it, the Resurrection, shall come upon them suddenly, dumbfounding them, confusing them, and they shall not be able to ward it off, nor shall they be granted any respite, [nor shall they] be given any [extra] time to make a repentance or offer an excuse.

We envisage their agitated movements, described implicitly in the verse, to protect their faces and their backs against the fire, but their attempt is useless. It is as if the fire engulfs them on all sides. They can neither keep it away from themselves, nor retreat to seek protection. Nor is even a short respite from it possible.

That the punishment comes suddenly is only the response for their hastening it.

Sarcastically, they used to say time after time:

“When is this promise to be fulfilled, if what you say be true?”

The answer is that it comes suddenly, perplexing their minds and paralyzing their will. Thus, they are unable to think or act. This applies to the punishment in the hereafter.

Moreover, verily messengers before you were derided but those who mocked them were encircled by the chastisement, which they used to deride; likewise, it shall befall those who have derided you.

As for this world’s punishment, it certainly befell communities before them, which ridiculed Allah’s messengers. Just as those communities were unable to ward off a punishment that wiped them out altogether, so these unbelievers are unable to avert their defeat and captivity. They are thus warned not to deride Allah’s Messenger, to avoid the punishment that befalls those who ridicule prophets. Such fate and punishment is bound to come, because it is part of Allah’s law, which will inevitably, take effect, just as the destruction of earlier communities, guilty of the same offence, proves.

The verses 21:36-41in different translations:

QARIB:

36-When the unbelievers see you, they take you only for mockery, saying: ‘is this he who talks about your gods? ‘While they are unbelievers in the remembrance of the merciful.

37-The human was created of haste. Indeed, I will show you my signs; so do not ask me to hasten them.

38-They say: ‘if you are truthful, when will this promise come? ‘

39-If the unbelievers only knew when they will be unable to shield either their faces or their backs from the fire; when they will not be helped!

40-It will overtake them suddenly, dumbfounding them. they shall be unable to ward it off, and they shall not be respited.

41-Before you, other messengers were mocked, but the mockers were encompassed by the very thing they mocked.

SHAKIR:

36-And when those who disbelieve see you, they do not take you but for one to be scoffed at: is this he who speaks of your gods? and they are deniers at the mention of the beneficent Allah

37-Man is created of haste; now will i show to you my signs, therefore do not ask me to hasten (them) on

38-And they say: when will this threat come to pass if you are truthful?

39-Had those who disbelieve but known (of the time) when they shall not be able to ward off the fire from their faces nor from their backs, nor shall they be helped

40-Nay, it shall come on them all of a sudden and cause them to become confounded, so they shall not have the power to avert it, nor shall they be respited

41-And certainly messengers before you were scoffed at, then there befell those of them who scoffed that at which they had scoffed

PICKTHAL:

36-And when those who disbelieve behold thee, they but choose thee out for mockery, (saying): is this he who maketh mention of your gods? and they would deny all mention of the beneficent.

37-Man is made of haste. I shall show you my portents, but ask me not to hasten.

38-And they say: when will this promise (be fulfilled), if ye are truthful?

39-If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not be able to drive off the fire from their faces and from their backs, and they will not be helped!

40-Nay, but it will come upon them unawares so that it will stupefy them, and they will be unable to repel it, neither will they be reprieved.

41-Messengers before thee, indeed, were mocked, but that whereat they mocked surrounded those who scoffed at them.

YUSUFALI:

36-When the unbelievers see thee, they treat thee not except with ridicule. “is this,” (they say), “the one who talks of your gods?” and they blaspheme at the mention of (Allah) most gracious!

37-Man is a creature of haste: soon (enough) will i show you my signs; then ye will not ask me to hasten them!

38-They say: “when will this promise come to pass, if ye are telling the truth?”

39-If only the unbelievers knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor yet from their backs, and (when) no help can reach them!

40-Nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite.

41-Mocked were (many) messenger before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.

Atheists in Quran (16) they mocked Muhammad

The Quran talked about the Atheists’ mockery they hurled at the Prophet Muhammad. The Quran says, “If they knew of the time when they shall not be able to ward off the Fire from their faces, nor from their backs and none shall protect them from it at the Resurrection”.

———————————

Do Not Overlook this Warning

The verses 21:38-41 describe how the Atheists deal with Muhammad

The verses talk about

  • The way the unbelievers received Allah’s Messenger and the revelations he was given.
  • The mockery they hurled at him and
  • Their persistent disbelief.

The verses follow this by pointing out that, by nature, man is hasty.

One manifestation of this haste is the unbelievers’ attempts to hasten Allah’s punishment.

Hence, it warns them against such haste and makes it clear to them that they must refrain from mocking the Prophet Muhammad if they wish to avoid the consequences of such unwarranted behavior. That is the persistent suffering of the unbelievers in the hereafter.

The verses talk about the accuracy of the reckoning in the hereafter and the suitability of the reward given on the Day of Judgment.

Thus, the reckoning and the reward are linked to the rules operating in the universe, human nature and human life.

What is more, they try to hasten the punishment against which the Prophet warns them.

For, by nature, man is hasty:

“Man is a creature of haste.”

Haste is present in man’s very nature and constitution.

Man always stretches his eyes to what lies ahead, beyond the present moment, aiming to grasp it with his own hand.

Man wants to achieve, the moment it flashes in his mind, all that seems desirable. He wants to see all that is promised to him, even though it may be to his detriment.

Such is man’s nature, unless he establishes a firm relationship with Allah, which gives him strength and reassurance. He will then trust to Allah’s wisdom, leaving His will to run its course without hastening events. For faith combines trust with patience and reassurance.

Those Atheists hastened Allah’s punishment, wondering when the promise of punishment in the hereafter, as well as in this life, would be fulfilled.

The Quran describes here for them a scene of the suffering in the hereafter, while also warning them against a similar punishment to that which befell earlier communities that rejected the faith “If only the unbelievers knew [that there will come]

  • A time when they will not be able to shield their faces and their backs from the fire;
  • A time when they will find no support.

Indeed, it will come upon them all of a sudden, and will stupefy them.

They will be unable to avert it, nor will they be allowed any respite.

Other messengers were derided before your time; but those who scoffed at them were [in the end] overwhelmed by the very thing that they derided.”

(Verses 39-41)

If the Atheists only knew what will happen to them, they would change their attitude completely.

They would stop their mockery and hastening of what is bound to come.

Let them, then, see what is bound to come. Therein, the fire surrounds them on all sides.

Imagine their frantic movements, described implicitly in the verse, to protect their faces and their backs against the fire, but their attempt is futile. It is as if the fire engulfs them on all sides. They can neither keep it away from themselves, nor retreat to seek protection. Nor is even a short respite from it possible.

That the punishment comes suddenly is only the response for their hastening it.

They used to say time after time:

“When is this promise to be fulfilled, if what you say be true?” (Verse 38)

The answer is that it comes suddenly, perplexing their minds andparalyzing their will. Thus, they are unable to think or act, let alone enjoy a period ofgrace to mend their ways.

This applies to the punishment in the hereafter. As for this world’s punishment, it certainly befell communities before them, which ridiculed Allah’s messengers. Just like those communities were unable to ward off a punishment that wiped them out altogether, so these Atheists are unable to avert their defeat and captivity. They are thus warned not to deride Allah’s Messenger, so as to avoid the punishment that befalls those who ridicule prophets. Such fate and punishment is bound to come, because it is part of Allah’s law which will inevitably take effect, just as the destruction of earlier communities, guilty of the same offence, proves.

What Professor Gerald C. Goeringer says about the Quran?

Upon reading few verses of the Quran, Professor Dr Gerald C. Goeringer speculated whether in the history of embryology was there any mention of the different stages of embryonic development, or whether there existed any embryological texts at the time of the Prophet Muhammad.

———————————————————————–

Upon reading few verses (ayah) of the Noble Quran, Professor Dr Gerald C. Goeringer speculated whether in the history of embryology was there any mention of the different stages of embryonic development, or whether there existed any embryological texts at the time of the Prophet Muhammad.

Dr Gerald C. Goeringer is a Course Director and Professor and coordinator of Medical Embryology at the Department of Cell Biology, School of Medicine, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA.

During the Eighth Saudi Medical Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Professor Goeringer stated the following in the presentation of his research paper:

“In a relatively few ayah (Quranic verses) is contained a rather comprehensive description of human development from the time of commingling of the gametes through organogenesis.  No such distinct and complete record of human development, such as classification, terminology, and description, existed previously.  In most, if not all, instances, this description antedates by many centuries the recording of the various stages of human embryonic and foetal development recorded in the traditional scientific literature.”

Here you are the Quranic verses that made Professor Dr Gerald C. Goeringer astonished!

The verses 23:12-14 in the four available translations

QARIB:

We created the human from an essence of clay: then we made him, a drop, in a secure receptacle (the womb). Then we created of the drop, a clot (of congealed blood) and we created the clot into bite size tissue, then we created the bite size tissue into bones, then we clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it another creation. Blessed is Allah, the best of creators!

SHAKIR:

And certainly we created man of an extract of clay, then we made him a small seed in a firm resting-place, then we made the seed a clot, then we made the clot a lump of flesh, then we made (in) the lump of flesh bones, then we clothed the bones with flesh, then we caused it to grow into another creation, so blessed be Allah, the best of the creators.

PICKTHAL:

Verily we created man from a product of wet earth; then placed him as a drop (of seed) in a safe lodging; then fashioned we the drop a clot, then fashioned we the clot a little lump, then fashioned we the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the best of creators!

YUSUFALI:

Man we did create from a quintessence (of clay); then we placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed; then we made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood; then of that clot we made a (fetus) lump; then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh; then we developed out of it another creature. so blessed be Allah, the best to create!

Allah asks you (22) who brings forth the living from the dead, and the dead from the living?

Allah asks you: Who provides for you from heaven and earth?

Allah asks you: Who owns the hearing and the sight?

Allah asks you: Who regulates and who directs the affairs?

Allah asks you: will you not be fearful?

Allah is your true established Lord; so what is there after truth except error?

———————————————————

In the Noble Quran, Allah is asking mankind some important questions.

It seems compulsory for the serious one who is looking for the truth to have a look at those questions and if possible to answer them.

Allah’ questions are many. In this series, these questions are chosen randomly.

———————————————————

In verse 10:31, Allah is asking the disbelievers these five questions

Who provides for you from heaven and earth? Who owns the hearing and the sight? Who brings forth the living from the dead? Who brings forth the dead from the living? Who regulates and who directs the affairs?

Interestingly, the ignorant disbeliever Arabs answered all of these questions and said: Allah does all of that.

Allah then says: ‘then, will you not be fearful? ‘

Verses 10:31-32 give the question of this article and talk about it

The meanings of the verses 10:31-32

Verse 10:31 says:

Say to the disbelievers O Muhammad:

Who provides for you, rain, out of the heaven, and, plants out of the earth, or

Who owns hearing, meaning the ability to make hear, that is, the creation of this faculty, and sight, i.e. who is able to create hearing and sight and

Who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and

Who directs and regulates the affairs between creatures?

Who can direct and look into the affairs of His servants and sends the angels with revelation, Scriptures and misfortunes?

They will surely say, ‘It is He, Allah.’

Then say to them O Muhammad:

Will ye not then keep your duty unto Him?

will you not then obey Allah?

‘Will you not then fear?’, Him, and believe?

Verse 10:32 says:

That, Doer of all these things, then is Allah, your rightful Lord, your true, established, Lord; the one who is able to do so is your Lord, Who is the Truth and whose worship is the Truth.

so what is there, after truth, except error? in other words, after the Truth what is there saving error; after worship of Allah what is your worship if not worship of the devil?

How then are you turned away, from faith, despite the proofs having been established?

How then are ye turned away; from whence do you invent lies about Allah!

———————————————————

Verses 10:31-32 in different translations:

QARIB:

31) Say: ‘who provides for you from heaven and earth, or who owns the hearing and the sight? who brings forth the living from the dead, and the dead from the living? ‘who directs the affair? surely, they will say: ‘Allah. ‘then say: ‘then, will you not be fearful? ‘

32) Such is Allah, your lord, the true. what, is there after truth, anything except error. then how are you turned around (from faith)? ‘

SHAKIR:

31) Say: who gives you sustenance from the heaven and the earth? or who controls the hearing and the sight? and who brings forth the living from the dead, and brings forth the dead from the living? and who regulates the affairs? then they will say: Allah. say then: will you not then guard (against evil)?

32) This then is Allah, your true lord; and what is there after the truth but error; how are you then turned back?

PICKTHAL:

31) Say (unto them, O Muhammad): who provideth for you from the sky and the earth, or who owneth hearing and sight; and who bringeth forth the living from the dead and bringeth forth the dead from the living; and who directeth the course? they will say: Allah. then say: will ye not then keep your duty (unto him)?

32) Such then is Allah, your rightful lord. after the truth what is there saving error? how then are ye turned away!

YUSUFALI:

31) Say: “who is it that sustains you (in life) from the sky and from the earth? or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? and who is it that brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living? and who is it that rules and regulates all affairs?” they will soon say, “Allah”. say, “will ye not then show piety (to him)?”

32) Such is Allah, your real cherisher and sustainer: apart from truth, what (remains) but error? How then are ye turned away?

Allah loves (2) those who are Clean and Pure

Allah is the Pure and He loves the clean and pure

Allah loves those who turn to him in repentance

Allah loves those who turn to him in repentance.  Allah loves those who cleanse and purify themselves.  Allah loves those who have a care for turning away from transgression and filth.  Allah is the Pure and He loves the clean and pure

—————————————-

The verse 2:222 of the Quran, shows that Allah Loves those who turn to him in repentance and He loves those who cleanse and purify themselves.

The verse 2:222 means:

They will ask you about the monthly period, that is, menstruation and the spot in which it occurs, and how should one treat his wife during it.

They question you (O Muhammad) concerning menstruation,

They ask you about sexual intercourse during menstruation,

Say O Muhammad: it is harmful, It is an ailment, it is filth and unlawful, or the place whence it issues is so;

So keep away from women at such time

So refrain from having sexual intercourse during menstruation

And go not unto them

Do not have sex with them

Till they are cleansed of menstruation

Until they are pure, that is, until they have cleansed themselves after its cessation;

And when they have purified themselves and have had a major ritual ablution

Then come to them, in sexual intercourse, as Allah has commanded you’

You may have sex with them (as Allah hath enjoined upon you.

However, Muslims are allowed to do everything with their wives save the sexual intercourse; in some cultures, men do not eat with menstruating women!

Truly, Allah loves, that is, He rewards and honors, those who repent, of sins, those who repent of transgression and He loves those who have a care for cleanness those who have a care for turning away from transgression and filth.

Allah loves those who cleanse themselves, from impurities.

—————————————-

Verse 2:222 in four different translations

QARIB:

They ask you about menstruation. Say: ‘it is an injury. Stay away from women during their menstrual periods and do not approach them until they are cleansed. When they have cleansed themselves, then come to them from where Allah has commanded you. Allah loves those who turn to him in repentance and he loves those who cleanse themselves. ‘

SHAKIR:

And they ask you about menstruation. say: it is a discomfort; therefore keep aloof from the women during the menstrual discharge and do not go near them until they have become clean; then when they have cleansed themselves, go in to them as Allah has commanded you; surely Allah loves those who turn much (to him), and he loves those who purify themselves

PICKTHAL:

They question thee (O Muhammad) concerning menstruation. say: it is an illness, so let women alone at such times and go not in unto them till they are cleansed. and when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah hath enjoined upon you. truly Allah loveth those who turn unto him, and loveth those who have a care for cleanness.

YUSUFALI:

They ask thee concerning women’s courses. say: they are a hurt and a pollution: so keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves, ye may approach them in any manner, time, or place ordained for you by Allah. for Allah loves those who turn to him constantly and he loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.

This is Allah (16) to Him Belongs all Sovereignty

1)    Who Possess the Power: Allah or the idols?

2)    Allah subdued the light of the Sun and the Moon to the Service of human beings

3)    None can inform you like the One Who is Aware, Knower, Allah, exalted be He

4)    The deities will absolve themselves from you for associating them as partners with Allah

————————————————–

Many people do not know Allah. This series is an attempt to help them in order to know and acknowledge their Creator.

Verses 35:13-14 of the Noble Quran says that Allah subdued the light of the Sun and the Moon to the Service of human beings;  to Allah Belongs all Sovereignty. The deities will absolve themselves from you for associating them as partners with Allah and for worshipping them beside Allah; and none can inform you like the One Who is Aware, Knower, Allah, exalted be He.

————————————————–

The meaning of verse 35:13:

He, Allah, makes the night pass, enter, into the day, so that it becomes longer, for instance, six hours, and He makes the day pass into the night, so that it becomes longer, by, let us say, six hours.

He subdued the light of the sun and the moon to the service of human beings.

And He has disposed the sun and the moon, each, of them, moving, in its course, to an appointed term up to the Day of Resurrection. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs all sovereignty.

As for those on whom you call, whom you worship, besides Him, in other words, other than Him; and they are the idols; they do not possess even so much as the husk of a date-stone.

In other words, it is Allah, your Lord, Who does so, not the deities; (His is the Sovereignty) the storehouses of the universe; (and those unto whom you pray) those whom you worship (instead of Him) instead of Allah (own not so much as the white spot on a date stone) they are unable to own of all that even the white spot on a date stone.

The meaning of verse 35:14:

If you call on them, If you pray unto them i.e. the deities they will not hear your call and they hear not your prayer) because they are deaf and dumb, and even if they heard —hypothetically speaking — they would not be able to respond to you; and on the Day of Resurrection they will disown your idolatrous associations,

The deities will absolve themselves from you for associating them as partners with Allah and for worshipping them beside Allah.

in other words, your associating them with Allah in power, that is to say, they will declare themselves innocent of you and of your worship of them. And none can inform you, about the state in the two abodes, like One Who is Aware, Knower, and this is Allah, exalted be He.

————————————————–

Verses 35:13-14 in different English translations

QARIB:

13) He causes the night to enter into the day and the day into the night. he has subjected the sun and the moon each running for a named term. such is Allah, your lord. to him belongs the kingdom; and those whom you call upon, other than him, do not possess even as much as the membrane of a datestone.

14) If you supplicate to them they cannot hear your supplication, and if they heard, they cannot answer you. on the day of resurrection they will disown your associating. none can tell you like he who is the aware.

SHAKIR:

13) He causes the night to enter in upon the day, and he causes the day to enter in upon the night, and he has made subservient (to you) the sun and the moon; each one follows its course to an appointed time; this is Allah, your lord, his is the kingdom; and those whom you call upon besides him do not control a straw

14) If you call on them they shall not hear your call, and even if they could hear they shall not answer you; and on the resurrection day they will deny your associating them (with Allah); and none can inform you like the one who is aware

PICKTHAL:

13) He maketh the night to pass into the day and he maketh the day to pass into the night. he hath subdued the sun and moon to service. each runneth unto an appointed term. such is Allah, your lord; his is the sovereignty; and those unto whom ye pray instead of him own not so much as the white spot on a date-stone.

14) If ye pray unto them they hear not your prayer, and if they heard they could not grant it you. on the day of resurrection they will disown association with you. none can inform you like him who is aware.

YUSUFALI:

13) He merges night into day, and he merges day into night, and he has subjected the sun and the moon (to his law): each one runs its course for a term appointed. such is Allah your lord: to him belongs all dominion. and those whom ye invoke besides him have not the least power.

14) If ye invoke them, they will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). on the day of judgment they will reject your “partnership”. and none, (o man!) can tell thee (the truth) like the one who is acquainted with all things.

Then the following verse is 35:15 says:

QARIB:

People, it is you who are in need of Allah. he is the rich, the praised.

SHAKIR:

O men! you are they who stand in need of Allah, and Allah is he who is the self-sufficient, the praised one

PICKTHAL:

O mankind! ye are the poor in your relation to Allah. and Allah! he is the absolute, the owner of praise.

YUSUFALI:

O ye men! it is ye that have need of Allah: but Allah is the one free of all wants, worthy of all praise.

And this will be discussed in the next article.

This is Allah (4) He has provided many things for you

Allah Has Created the Heavens and the Earth

It is Allah Who has created the heavens and the earth, and caused water (rain) to descend from the sky, thereby producing the rain and brought forth different kinds of fruits as sustenance and food for man and for all other created beings.

Allah Has Disposed for You the Sun and the Moon

Allah has disposed for you the sun and the moon, constant, moving in their courses without pause until the Day of Judgment.

Many people do not know Allah.

This series is an attempt to help them in order to know and acknowledge their Creator.

Allah provides man with many gifts.

It is Allah Who has created the heavens and the earth, and caused water to descend from the sky, and brought forth different kinds of fruits; and He has disposed for you the ships that they may run upon the sea.

And He has disposed for you the rivers subservient unto you. And He has disposed for you the sun and the moon, and the night and the day.

It is Allah Who has created the heavens and the earth, and caused water (rain) to descend from the sky, thereby producing the rain and brought forth different kinds of fruits as sustenance and food for man and for all other created beings,

And He has disposed for you the ships that they may run upon the sea, [laden] with passengers and cargo, at His commandment, by His leave,

In other words, and made the ships to be of service) subservient (unto you, that they) i.e. the ships (may run upon the sea at His command) by His permission and will; And He has disposed for you the rivers subservient unto you.

And He has disposed for you the sun and the moon, constant, moving in their courses without pause until the Day of Judgment,

and He made subservient (unto you the night and the day) which come and go.
