Angels in Islam (20) their first Witness

The Angels whose number is countless do bear witness that there is no God save Allah.

—————————-

In the verse 3:18, Allah declared His divine Oneness, saying:

Allah, is witness that there is no God save Him.

Also, the Angels do bear witness that there is no God save Allah.

And those of knowledge, from among the Messengers, the prophets and the believers, do bear witness to there is no God save Allah.

It is Allah who is:

  • The Almighty in His Kingdom and in vengeance against those who do not believe in Him,
  • The Wise in His actions, He has commanded that none shall be worshipped except Him.
  • Constantly and uniquely maintaining his creation with justice

Allah has made it clear to His creation through proofs and signs, that there is no god and none that is truly worshipped in existence, except Him.

The entire Messengers and prophets from Adam, Noah up to the last Prophet Muhammad made it clear to their folks and people that there is no god save Allah, the Almighty and the Wise; and none that is truly worshipped in existence except Him.

Again, who are the witness for all of the above?

1)    Allah

2)    The entire world of the Angels whose number is countless

3)    The entire Messengers and Prophets from Adam, Noah up to Muhammad

4)    The entire believers who obeyed their Messengers and Prophets from Adam, Noah up to Muhammad

See how many billions of witnesses bear witness in the life of this world and will bear witness in the Afterlife that there is no God save Allah.

And, above all of them and before all of them the Almighty Creator, Allah, Himself, is witness that there is no God save Him.

Even if no one else bears witness, Allah is sufficient as a witness!

Now, where you are from this witness?

Where you are from this testimony that will lead to either Paradise or Hell?

—————————-

The verse 3:18 of the Noble Quran in different translations

QARIB:

Allah bears witness that there is no god except he, and so do the Angels and the knowledgeable. He upholds justice there is no god except he, the mighty, the wise.

SHAKIR:

Allah bears witness that there is no god but he, and (so do) the Angels and those possessed of knowledge, maintaining his creation with justice; there is no god but he, the mighty, the wise

PICKTHAL:

Allah (himself) is witness that there is no Allah save him. And the Angels and the men of learning (too are witness), maintaining his creation in justice, there is no Allah save him the almighty, the wise.

YUSUFALI:

There is no god but he: that is the witness of Allah, his Angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice. There is no god but he, the exalted in power, the wise.

Angels in Islam (19) the Angels’ number is countless

Do you know the Angels?

What are the Angels?

How many Angels has Allah created; what is their number?

—————————————–

Do you know the Angels?

Allah has created things of which you have no knowledge (the verse 16:8)

What are the Angels?

They are the hosts of the heavens and the servants of Allah (the verse 48:7)

Who has created the Angels?

Allah who is ever Mighty in His kingdom and Wise in His actions (the verse 48:7)

How many Angels has Allah created; what is their number?

He increases the creation as He wills (the verse 35:1)

Certainly, Muslims have no knowledge of precisely when the Angels were created, because there is no verse in the Quran to tell us this.

However, Muslims do know for sure that they were created before Mankind.

Also, Muslims know for certain that the number of Angels is much more than the number of human beings.

The Angels are many, and their number is known only to Allah who created them.

The Prophet Muhammad said, describing the Much-Frequented Visited House that is present in the heaven:

“Then I was taken up to the Much-Frequented Visited House: every day seventy thousand Angels visit it and leave, never returning to it again, another [group] coming after them.”

The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, said: ‘Hell will be brought forth that day (the Last Day) by means of seventy thousand ropes, each of which will be pulled by seventy thousand Angels.”

Angels are the most numerous kind of creation of Allah. There are more Angels than the other creations of Allah, including the humans and jinn–even the trees.

Also, the Prophet Muhammad said:

There is no space equivalent to the width of four fingers in the sky except one would find an Angel mentioning (worshipping) Allah–either standing, bowing or prostrating. They stay as such worshipping Allah until the Day of Judgment.

There are countless numbers of Angels, and only Allah knows how many there are.

The verse 16:8

QARIB:

…and He creates what you do not know.

SHAKIR:

…and He creates what you do not know

PICKTHAL:

…and He createth that which ye know not.

YUSUFALI:

…and He has created (other) things of which ye have no knowledge.

The verse 48:7

QARIB:

To Allah belong the armies of the heavens and the earth. Allah is the almighty and the wise.

SHAKIR:

And Allah’s are the hosts of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is mighty, wise

PICKTHAL:

Allah’s are the hosts of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is ever mighty, wise.

YUSUFALI:

For to Allah belong the forces of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is exalted in power, full of wisdom.

The verse 35:1

QARIB:

…He increases the creation as he wills…

SHAKIR:

… He increases in creation what he pleases…

PICKTHAL:

… He multiplieth in creation what he will…

YUSUFALI:

… He adds to creation as he pleases…

Angels in Islam (18) their ability to take on different forms

Allah has given the angels the ability to take on forms other than their own; the Angels came to Abraham, Lot, Saint Mary and Muhammad in human forms.

——————————————————–

The angels have great amazing powers including their ability to take on different forms.

Allah has given the angels the ability to take on forms other than their own.

1) The Angels came to the Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) in human form, and he did not know that they were angels until they did not eat his food and he was afraid of them then they told him that they are but Angels coming with glad tidings that he will beget Isaac. (See the verses 51:24-28 in the Appendix)

2) Similarly, the angels came to the Prophet Lot (Lut) in the form of young men with beautiful faces to try his (homosexual) people who wanted to have sex with them; and this was the last trial for Lot’s people before Allah has punished them (See the verses 11:77-81 in the Appendix)

3) Also, Allah sent the Angel Gabriel (Jibreel) to Saint Mary (Maryam) in the form of a man, as Allah informed us in the Noble Quran: (See the verse 19:17 in the Appendix)

4) The Angel Gabriel (Jibreel) used to come to the Prophet Muhammad in different forms:

  • Sometimes he would appear in the form of one of Muhammad’s companion called Dihyah al-Kalbi, who was very handsome, and
  • Sometimes in the form of a Bedouin.

5) Muhammad’s companion saw the Angel Gabriel (Jibreel) in his human form; it is narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (a famous Muhammad’s companion) said:

“One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of travel were to be seen on him, and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down by the Prophet. Resting his knees against his and placing his hands on his thighs, he said: ‘O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.’…” .

In this Hadeeth, Gabriel (Jibreel) asked the Prophet Muhammad the following:

  • What is Islam?
  • What is Faith?
  • When is the Hour (the Last Day)?

When he has left, the Prophet Muhammad said to his companion: “this is Gabriel (Jibreel) came to teach you”

In addition, there are many other Hadeeth refer to the angels taking human forms such as the:

6) Hadeeth about the man who killed a hundred men in which it says “. . . there came to them an angel in human form . . .”

7) Hadeeth about an Angel who came to the blind man, the bald man and the leper.

You will read about 5), 6) and 7) later on.

N.B., Hadeeth = Muhammad’ saying

Appendix:

The verses 51:24-28 (Abraham and the Angels):

24- Have you heard the story of Abraham’s honored guests?

25- They entered to him and said: ‘peace. ‘And he replied: ‘peace, you are people unknown to me. ‘

26- So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf.

27- He set it before them, saying: ‘will you not eat? ‘

28- Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: ‘have no fear’, and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son.  [QARIB translation]

The verses 11:77-81 (Lot and the Angels):

77- And when our messengers came to lut, he was grieved for them, and he lacked strength to protect them, and said: this is a hard day

78) And his people came to him, (as if) rushed on towards him, and already they did evil deeds. He said: o my people! These are my daughters– they are purer for you, so guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not disgrace me with regard to my guests; is there not among you one right-minded man?

79- They said: certainly you know that we have no claim on your daughters, and most surely you know what we desire

80- He (Lot) said: ah! That i had power to suppress you, rather i shall have recourse to a strong support

81- They said: o Lut! we are the messengers of your lord; they shall by no means reach you; so remove your followers in a part of the night– and let none of you turn back– except your wife, for surely whatsoever befalls them shall befall her; surely their appointed time is the morning; is not the morning nigh?  [SHAKIR translation]

The verses 19:17 (Saint Mary and Gabriel):

“. . . Then we (Allah) sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects (the likeness of a perfect man).” [YUSUFALI translation]

Angels in Islam (17) their speed is 98 billion times faster than the Speed of Light

The Angels speed is 97,766,160,000 Times faster than the Speed of Light and 977,616 Times faster than the Spooky Quantum Action.

————————————–

The speed of light is about 300,000 kilometers/second (it is exactly 299,792 kilometers/second)

So, if you travel with the speed of light, you can go from the Earth to the Moon in one second and from the Earth to the Sun in eight minutes.

However, the successful researches of NASA proved that the photons travel faster than the speed of light

A team of international scientists demonstrate Three-Way Quantum Communication that is faster than the Speed of Light.

Spooky (Ghostly) Quantum Action Is 10,000 Times Faster than Light

And this is –so far- the fastest speed ever known.

On the other hand, the most distant star that can be seen by man is the star Deneb

This star is located about 1550 light years away from Earth.

This distance = 1550 X 365 X 24 X 60 X 60 X 300,000 = 611,010,000,000,000 kilometers = 611 trillion kilometers

It is the most distant star man can ever see.

According to the Islamic teaching, Allah is far above all of His creatures and far above our our imagination, our mind, and our thoughts.

The star Deneb is one of Allah’s creatures.

It is well known that the Great Honored Angel, Gabriel (Gabriel (Jibreel)) is the messenger between Allah and the Prophet Muhammad; he used to convey the verses of the Quran from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad throughout a period of 23 years.

Hypothetically, if we assume that Gabriel is located nearby the star Deneb; then it was happened many times that an enquirer(s) had just completed a question to the Prophet and Gabriel would bring the answer from Allah in few seconds!

This happened may times; a man is asking the Prophet Muhammad and Gabriel brings the answer from Allah in few seconds (let us say in 5 seconds)

Then, the Hypothetical distance of 1550 light years away from Earth = 5 second by the Angels’ speed.

So, the Angels speed is far above our imagination, our mind, and our thoughts.

Accordingly, the Angels speed is 97,766,160,000 Times Faster than Light

And, the Angels speed is 977,616 Times faster than the Spooky Quantum Action

As a matter of fact, Gabriel – while he is above the Heavens nearby Allah – is more far away than the star Deneb.

This is one of many miraculous examples of Allah’s creation.

The verse 31:11 says according to different translations:

QARIB:

Such is the creation of Allah; now show me what, other than him, created! No, the harm doers are in clear error.

SHAKIR:

This is Allah’s creation, but show me what those besides him have created. Nay, the unjust are in manifest error

PICKTHAL:

This is the creation of Allah. Now show me that which those (ye worship) beside him have created. Nay, but the wrong-doers are in error manifest!

YUSUFALI:

Such is the creation of Allah: now show me what is there that others besides him have created: nay, but the transgressors are in manifest error.

Angels in Islam (16) every Nation worshiped the Angels

The Angels are responsible for helping the entire activities of man from his birth to his death. Instead of believing in the Angels, man worshiped them and made them gods

—————————————————–

Study of man’s traditional, historical, mythological and cultural folklores reveals that man all over the world worshiped the superpowers surrounding him which are represented by many gods like god of power, god of fertility, god of love, god of sexuality, god of clouds, god of sea, god of wind, god of rain, god of ocean, god of war, god of thunder, god of rivers, god of sky, god of lightning, god of plants, god of planets, god of wine, god of pleasures, god of protection, god of death, god of prosperity, god of plague, god of healing, god of hunting, god of animals etc.

It is interesting to find that every nation throughout the history believed in one or more of the above gods; you find that upon studying the cultures of Persian, Egypt, Greece, Romano-Celtic, Native American, Africa, Rome, Chinese, Armenia, Semitic, Babylonia, Assyria, Syria, Fiji, Germanic, Japan, Hindu, Haiti, Tibet, Maya, Celtic, Kassites, Aztec, Gaul, Hispanic, Moabite, Teutonic, Sparta, Chaldean, Dahomey, Taoist, Shinto, Hungary, Sumer, Teutonic, Tamil, Slavic, Tamil, Etruscan, Polynesian/Maori, Mexico, Celtic, Sumer, Tahiti, Phoenician, Gaul, Polynesian, Finland, Hittite, Mesoamerican, Akkad, Slavonic, Ethiopian, Yemeni, Native Australia, Columbian etc.

Then, what was the essential background of such belief?

After creation of Adam, Allah has told him that He will send to man messengers to guide human beings and man has to follow them.

The message that Allah sent to his messengers from Noah to Muhammad was the same; it is to believe in 1) Allah, 2) the Angels, 3) the Messengers, 4) the Divinely-revealed Books and 5) the Last Day and the Afterlife.

All the messengers taught their people everything about this faith; and of course they taught them everything about the nature and the role of the Angels the same as the Prophet Muhammad has told us

In brief, the Islamic teachings concerning the job descriptions of the Angels say that the Angels are responsible for helping the entire activities of man from his birth to his death.

The Angels are responsible also for the activities and the balance of the surrounding environment surrounding us. Not only that, but the Angels are responsible for your Afterlife.

1)    The Angels responsible for helping the entire activities of man from his birth to his death:

There are angels in charge of the baby inside the womb of his mother

Others are responsible for protecting the man throughout his life, when he stays home and when he travels, when he is asleep and when he is awake.

Others are responsible for recording the deeds of man, good and bad

Others are responsible for taking people’s souls: these are the Angel of Death and his group

Others are responsible for testing people in the grave.

2)    The Angels responsible for the environment surrounding us

There are angels responsible for rain, directing it wherever Allah wishes.

There are angels direct the winds and clouds, as Allah wills.

There are angels in charge of the plants

Some of the Angels are responsible for fertility, sea, thunder, ocean, war, mountains, rivers, sky, lightning, planets, plague, healing, etc.

3)    The Angels responsible for your Afterlife

Some of the Angels are the keepers of Paradise.

Some of the Angels are the keepers of Hell,

Back to the man throughout the history, instead of believing in the Angels, he worshiped them and made them god of fertility, god of love, god of sexuality, god of clouds, god of sea, god of wind, god of rain, god of ocean, god of war, god of thunder, god of rivers, god of sky, god of lightning, god of plants, god of planets, god of wine, god of pleasures, god of protection, god of death, god of prosperity, god of plague, god of healing, god of hunting, god of animals etc.

It is possible that his belief took time to develop and for sure it is done by Satan’s inspiration

Man has to believe in the Angels and to love them; however he made them gods and worshiped them!

It may be a kind of fiction to imagine that there are many gods in this world as the ancient people believed.

Would those many gods argue, struggle and fight together?

Have you seen some movies about the Greek gods which fought together?

Look how the Quran simply declares how this faith is err.

The meanings of the verse 21:22:

Had there been in the heavens and/or the earth, gods other than Allah, the heavens and/or the earth would have surely deteriorated, they would have deviated from their observed perfect order, because counteractive forces would exist among such gods, as is usually the case, when there is more than one ruler, that there is counteraction and a lack of consensus regarding something.  So glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Throne, above what the disbelievers ascribe.

—————————————————–

The verse 21:22 in four different translations:

QARIB:

Had there been gods in heaven or earth, other than Allah, both would indeed have been ruined. Exalted be Allah, lord of the throne, above that they describe.

SHAKIR:

if there had been in them any gods except Allah, they would both have certainly been in a state of disorder; therefore glory be to Allah, the lord of the dominion, above what they attribute (to him)

PICKTHAL:

If there were therein gods beside Allah, then verily both (the heavens and the earth) had been disordered. Glorified be Allah, the lord of the throne, from all that they ascribe (unto him).

YUSUFALI:

If there were, in the heavens and the earth, other gods besides Allah, there would have been confusion in both! But glory to Allah, the lord of the throne: (high is he) above what they attribute to him!

Angels in Islam (15) the Arabs worshiped female Angel gods

– The Angels are honored Allah’ servants who have no sex, they do not marry; they are not like us.

– Shall man have whatever he wishes for like worshipping the Angels?

– Shall man have the right to say that the Angels are Allah’s daughters and gives them feminine names although such man dishonors the girls?

– However, the Angels’ intercession in the Afterlife cannot avail in any way except after Allah gives them the permission for it.

—————————————————

Throughout the history, man was confused about the nature of the Angels.

The scholars and the philosophers have four different belief concerning the nature of Angels and who they are:

  1. The first party believes that they are the sons of God
  2. The second party believes that they are the daughters of God
  3. The third party believes that they are God
  4. The fourth party believes that they are partners of God

The Quran denies and disproves all of the above belief.

In the article Angels in Islam (10) the Quran denies the Bible’s claim that the Angels are the sons of God who married the daughters of the People!(Genesis 6:2)

In the article Angels in Islam (11) the Quran says that neither Jesus nor the Angels who are close and favored, to Allah, would never disdain, scorn or reject haughtily, to be a slave of Allah.

In the article Angels in Islam (13) the Quran condemns the pre-Islamic belief of the daughters are to be for Allah, while the sons are to be for Arabs.

In the article Angels in Islam (14) the Quran declares that Satan was the source of the belief that the Angels are the daughters of Allah

—————————————————

The Arabs before Islam believed that Allah is the Supreme Allah and the gate to Him is his daughters, the Angels. They had to worship His daughters to satisfy him; they gave the Angels feminine names as:

  • al-Lat,
  • al-Uzza,
  • Manat, the third

According to the previous article, such belief and names are but Satanic invented stuffs.

The verses 53:19-31 say:

– Have you considered al-Lat and al-Uzza, and Manat, the third?

– Do these idols have the power over anything, such that you worship them besides Allah Who has the power over all that has been mentioned?’

– And because of their assertion also that the angels were Allah’s daughters, despite their aversion to daughters (they used to favor sons and dishonor girls) the Quran continues:

Are you to have males, and Allah females?

That, then, would indeed be an unfair division! Unjust division!

– These, the mentioned deities, are nothing but invented names which you and your fathers have named idols that you worship.

Allah has not revealed any warrant, any proof or evidence, for the worship of them.

– They follow nothing but conjecture, in their worship of them, and that which ignoble souls desire, of that which Satan adorned for them, that they may intercede for them before Allah, exalted be He, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord, by the tongue of the Prophet Muhammad, with definitive proof; yet they do not desist from their ways.

– Or shall man, that is, shall every human being among them, have whatever he wishes for? Such as [their wish] that the idols intercede for them. No! It is not so.

– Yet to Allah belong the Afterlife and the former life, and so nothing comes to pass in them except what He, exalted, wills.

– And how many an angel, there is in the heavens, and how honored they are in Allah’s sight but, whose intercession cannot avail in any way except after Allah gives permission, to them for this intercession, for whomever He wills, of His servants, and, with whom, He is satisfied.

– Truly those who do not believe in the Afterlife give the angels the names of females, for they say: ‘They are Allah’s daughters’

– But they do not have any knowledge thereof, of this claim. They follow, in this respect, nothing but conjecture, which they have conjured up, and indeed conjecture can never substitute for the truth.

– So shun him who turns away from Our Remembrance that is, from the Quran, and desires nothing but the life of this world

Turn your face, O Muhammad from him who turns away from our remembrance, from our divine Oneness and Scripture and desires but that which is in the life of the world ignoring the Afterlife.

—————————————————

The verses 53:19-31 (YUSUFALI translation):

19-20) have ye seen allat and al’uzza, and another, the third (goddess), manat?

21-22) What! For you the male sex, and for him (Allah), the female? Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair!

23) These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- even though there has already come to them guidance from their lord!

24-25) Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? But it is to Allah that the end and the beginning (of all things) belong

26) How many-so-ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom he pleases and that he is acceptable to him.

27-28) those who believe not in the hereafter, name the angels with female names. But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against truth.

29-30) therefore shun those who turn away from our message and desire nothing but the life of this world. That is as far as knowledge will reach them. Verily thy lord knoweth best those who stray from his path, and he knoweth best those who receive guidance.

31) Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: so that he rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and he rewards those who do good, with what is best.

Angels in Islam (14) the Female Angels is satanic idea

The Angels have no sex, they do not marry; they are not like us

Satan was the source of the belief that the Angels are the daughters of Allah

The angels know that the unbelievers will dwell in the Eternal hell

In the article Angels in Islam (13) the Quran condemns and denies the pre-Islamic belief of the daughters are to be for Allah, while the sons are to be for Arabs?

We knew that Arabs before Islam believe that the Angels are female and they are the daughters of Allah and Allah’s descendants are only females!

And such daughters of Allah deserve to be worshipped.

This was the background of why the Arabs before Islam used to worship the Angels, the daughters of Allah as they assumed

However, what was the source of such belief that is the Angels are but the daughters of Allah?

The verses 4:116-117 say:

Instead of Allah, the idolaters worship idols with feminine names and the rebellious Satan for they are obeying him (Satan).

This indicates that Satan was the source of this evil idea, which is the Angels are the daughters of Allah.

It is important to realize that Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him;

Whoever associates anything with Allah, verily he has get lost far away, from the truth.

The verses 37:149-166 say:

The Arabs before Islam assert kinship between Allah and the angels.

On the other hand, the angels know that the unbelievers will be assembled together and dwell in the Eternal hell

Read how Allah describes the Angels: They are “the sincere worshipers of Allah

Now listen to what the Angels say about themselves:

Each of us has a known place.

We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. And

We are the ones who exalt Allah

—————————————————

The verses 4:116-117 (QARIB translation):

116) Allah does not forgive (the sin of inventing an) association with him, but he forgives other sins to whomsoever he will. Whosoever associates with Allah has gone astray in far error.

117) instead of him they supplicate to none but females, and indeed they supplicate to none except the rebellious Satan,

The verses 37:149-166 (QARIB translation)

149-154) Now، ask them (o Muhammad): has your lord daughters، and they sons? Or، did we create the angels females while they were witnessing? Then is it of their lying that they say: ‘Allah has begotten (daughters)? They are truly liars. Has he chosen daughters above sons? What is the matter with you? How do you judge?

155-158) what, will you not remember? Or, do you have a clear authority? Bring your book, if what you say is true! They assert kinship between him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in hell).

159-166) Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, Except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. But as for you, and that you worship, you shall tempt none against him Except for he who shall roast in hell. (Gabriel said to the prophet Muhammad): ‘each of us has a known place. We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. And we are they who exalt (Allah). ‘

Angels in Islam (13) are daughters for Allah while sons for Arabs?

The Angels have no sex, they do not marry; they are not like us.

Nevertheless, the Arabs before Islam believe that the Angels are female and they are the daughters of Allah and Allah’s descendants are only females!

And such daughters of Allah deserve to be worshipped.

This was the background of why the Arabs before Islam used to worship the Angels, the daughters of Allah as they assumed

Look how the Quran condemns, denies and rejects this err faith.

The Quran tackles the famous custom of the Arabs that is how they look at the females.

The Arabs and the females before Islam.

The Quran says: Are daughters to be for your Lord, while sons are to be for them?

Why the Quran asks this question?

Because the Arabs put down the females. They used to dishonor the females very much. If anyone has got a female baby, he would feel very ashamed and he would bury her alive in the desert

The verses 16:57-59 say:

And they assign to Allah daughters, while they will have what they desire, namely, sons.

To Allah they assign daughters, while to themselves they assign sons.

And when one of them is given the tidings of a girl, that will be born to him, his face becomes darkened, transformed like that of one suddenly struck by grief, and he chokes inwardly, filled with anguish: so how is it that daughters are attributed to Him, exalted be He?

He hides, disappearing, from his people, out of distress at the tidings given to him, fearing mockery, unsure what to do with the newborn: shall he retain it — refrain from killing it — in humiliation, enduring shame and disgrace, or trample into the dust, by burying it alive.

Verily wretched is what they judge, evil is this judgment of theirs, in which they ascribe to their Creator that His are the daughters, who have such a lowly status in their eyes.

In addition to the verses 16:57-59, the Quran mentions this err Arabs’ faith about the Angels in many other verses like the followings:

The verse 16:57-59 (YUSUFALI translation)

57) And they assign daughters for Allah! – Glory be to him! – And for themselves (sons,- the issue) they desire!

58) When news is brought to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!

59) With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and) contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! What an evil (choice) they decide on?

The verse 52:39 (YUSUFALI translation)

Or has he (Allah) only daughters and you have sons?

The verse 17:40 (QARIB translation):

What! Has your Lord favored you with sons and taken to himself females from among the angels? Indeed, you utter a monstrous thing!

The verses 43:16-25 (SHAKIR translation)

16) What! Has he taken daughters to himself of what he himself creates and chosen you to have sons?

17) And when one of them is given news of that of which he sets up as a likeness for the beneficent Allah, his face becomes black and he is full of rage

18) What! That which is made in ornaments and which in contention is unable to make plain speech!

19) And they make the angels– them who are the servants of the beneficent Allah– female (divinities). What! Did they witness their creation? Their evidence shall be written down and they shall be questioned

20) And they say: if the beneficent Allah had pleased, we should never have worshipped them. They have no knowledge of this; they only lie

21) Or have we given them a book before it so that they hold fast to it?

22) Nay! They say: we found our fathers on a course, and surely we are guided by their footsteps

23) And thus, we did not send before you any warner (Prophet) in a town, but those who led easy lives in it said: surely we found our fathers on a course, and surely we are followers of their footsteps

24) (The warner) said: what! Even if I bring to you a better guide than that on which you found your fathers? They said: surely we are unbelievers in that with which you are sent

25) So we inflicted retribution on them, then see how the end of the rejecters was

Angels in Islam (12) are they Females?

The Angels have no sex, they do not marry; they are not like us.

Now we come to the second faith rejected by the Quran; that is the Angels are the daughters of God.

Before going through this subject it seems important to know the sex of the Angels and to realize what gender they are belong to

In Islamic teaching the Angels are neither male nor female.

They have no sex, no gender are belonged to them.

Furthermore, they do not marry and they have no Children, offspring or descendants,

Simply because they are not like us.

Nevertheless, the Arabs before Islam were among the nations which believe that the Angels are female creatures.

Look how the Quran rejects this belief and threaten those who believe in it

The verse 43:19 says:

The Angels are:

·         The worshipers of Allah, the merciful

·         The slaves of the Allah, beneficent

·         They do nothing but perfectly and precisely serve Allah

However, the unbelievers:

·         Claim that the angels are females

·         Make the angels females (divinities)

·         Believe that the angels are females

Then the Quran ask those unbelievers: Did you witness their creation?

And the Quran threaten them saying:

Their testimony will be recorded and they will be questioned at the Last Day, the Day of Judgment (before they go to the Eternal Fire).

It should be emphasized that anyone who believes that the Angels are females will dwell in the Eternal Fire in the Afterlife.

The verses 43:19 in four different translations

QARIB:

They claim that the angels, who are themselves the worshipers of the merciful, are females. Did they witness their creation! Their witness shall be written down and they shall be questioned.

SHAKIR:

And they make the angels– them who are the servants of the beneficent Allah– female (divinities). What! Did they witness their creation? Their evidence shall be written down and they shall be questioned

PICKTHAL:

And they make the angels, who are the slaves of the beneficent, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded and they will be questioned.

YUSUFALI:

And they make into females angels who themselves serve Allah. Did they witness their creation? Their evidence will be recorded, and they will be called to account!

Angels in Islam (11) neither Jesus nor the Angels disdain

In the Quran, the Angels are Allah’s honored slaves

In the Bible, the Angels are sons of God who married the daughters of the People!

——————————————-

Throughout the history, man was confused about the nature of the Angels.

The scholars and the philosophers have four different belief concerning the nature of Angels and who they are:

1)    The first party believes that they are the sons of God

2)    The second party believes that they are the daughters of God

3)    The third party believes that they are God

4)    The fourth party believes that they are partners of God

The Quran denies, rebuts and disproves all of the above belief.

In the previous article, we have seen how the Quran denies the Bible’s claim that the Angels are the sons of God who married the daughters of the People!(Genesis 6:2)

In addition, the Christians claim that Jesus is the son of God.

The verses 4:171 – 173 denies also this claim and gives fertile guidance to the Christians,

The verses give the following Ten fertile guidance:

1) O People of the Gospel, do not go beyond the bounds, in your religion and do not say about Allah except the truth, such as exalting Him above any associations with a partner or a son:

2) The Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, was only the Messenger of Allah, and not as you claim, that he is the son of God, while Allah has no son.

3) So believe in Allah and His messengers, and do not say ‘Three’.

4) Refrain, from this and say what, it is better for you, [to say], which is the profession of His Oneness. Verily, Allah is but the only One God.

5) Glory be to Him, transcending the possibility, that He should have a son!

To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the earth, as possessions, creatures and servants including the Angels,

6) And such sovereignty is not compatible with the prophet hood of Jesus.

Allah suffices as a Guardian, a Witness to this.

7) The Messiah, Jesus, would never disdain, scorn or reject haughtily, to be a slave of Allah, neither would the Angels who are close and favored, to Allah, disdain to be servants of Allah.

this is a splendid digression [to the matter of the angels], and it is mentioned as a refutation of those who claim that they [the angels] are son(s) of gods, just as He refuted the Christians who claim that which is the subject of the address to them [above].

Then the Quran says:

8) Whoever disdains to be slave of Allah, whoever disdains to worship Allah, and waxes proud, Allah will assuredly gather all of them to Him in the Day of Judgment.

9) As for those who believed, who did righteous deeds, He will pay them in full their wages, the reward for their deeds, and He will give them more of His bounty, what no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no man’s heart has ever wished for; and

10) As for them who disdain and are too proud, to worship Him, He will chastise them with a painful chastisement, which is the chastisement of the Eternal Fire, and they shall not find for themselves, besides Allah, that is, other than Him, any friend, to ward it off them, or helper, to protect them from it.

The verses 4:171 – 173 in two different translations

PICKTHAL:

171) O people of the scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and his word which he conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers, and say not “three” – cease! (It is) better for you! – Allah is only one Allah. Far is it removed from his transcendent majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as defender.

172) the messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah, nor will the favoured angels. Whoso scorneth his service and is proud, all such will he assemble unto him;

173) Then, as for those who believed and did good works, unto them will he pay their wages in full, adding unto them of his bounty; and as for those who were scornful and proud, them will he punish with a painful doom. And they will not find for them, against Allah, any protecting friend or helper.

YUSUFALI:

171) O people of the book! Commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and his word, which he bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from him: so believe in Allah and his messengers. Say not “trinity”: desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: glory be to him: (far exalted is he) above having a son. To him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs.

172) Christ disdaineth nor to serve and worship Allah, nor do the angels, those nearest (to Allah): those who disdain his worship and are arrogant,-he will gather them all together unto himself to (answer).

173) But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, he will give their (due) rewards, – and more, out of his bounty: but those who are disdainful and arrogant, he will punish with a grievous penalty; nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them.
