Chapter 6 of the Quran (34) how to understand Allah’s Plan

The chief wealthy unbelievers of Mecca said to Muhammad: Were those, weak, poor and needy, the ones whom Allah has favoured from among us with guidance? The Quran says: Allah loves the faithful believers, and He does not love the proud arrogant wealthy strong unbelievers.

—————————————————————————————————-

In the previous article, the chief wealthy strong unbelievers of Mecca were too proud to ask the Prophet Muhammad to repel the weak, poor and needy Muslims; they said to him:

‘We were among the prosperouss of our people and we dislike those people. So could you repel them when we sit with you?’

Not only that but they continued: ‘We will not be pleased until you write an agreement between us to repel those people when we sit with you’.

The Prophet Muhammad wanted to do this, because of his desire that the unbelievers become Muslims.  But, Allah command ed him not to repel those weak, poor and needy Muslims and said: If you repel them you will be of the unjust and of the evildoers.

Then, Ayah 6:53 says:

It is Allah’s plan to try some of them by others. Allah is testing the prosperous one by the commoner.

  • It is Allah’s plan to try the rich man by the poor man.
  • It is Allah’s plan to try the strong man by the weak man.
  • It is Allah’s plan to try the fortunate man by the deprived man.
  • It is Allah’s plan to try the proud famous man by the lowly man.

Allah is not interested in our power or money but He is rather interested in the faith inside our heart.

The prosperous wealthy ones may say, in disavowal: ‘Were those, weak, poor and needy, the ones whom Allah has favoured from among us with guidance? If what they follow is true guidance, they would not have preceded us in attaining it.

It should be emphasized that one of those weak, poor and needy believers was Bilal, the salve black Ethiopean believers.

Allah, exalted be He, says:

Is Allah not best awwere of those who were thankful to Him to guide them? Indeed He is.

Is not Allah best awwere of the thanksgivers of the believers, those who deserve such favour of guidance? Indeed He is.

Allah loves the faithful weak, poor and needy believers, and ,

Allah does not love the proud arrogant wealthy strong unbelievers

The verses 6:52 in different translations

QARIB:

As such we have made some of them a means for testing others, so that they should say: ‘were those whom Allah favors amongst us? ‘But does not Allah best know the thankful?

SHAKIR:

And thus do we try some of them by others so that they say: were these they upon whom Allah has conferred benefit from among us? Does not Allah best know the grateful?

PICKTHAL:

And even so do we try some of them by others that they say: were these they whom Allah favoureth among us? is not Allah best awwere of the thanksgivers?

YUSUFALI:

Thus did we try some of them by comparison with others that they should say: “is it these then that Allah hath favoured from amongst us?” doth not Allah know best those who were grateful?

Chapter 6 of the Quran (33) they said: Repel the Poor

The chief wealthy strong unbelievers of Mecca used to mock the weak, poor and needy followers of the Prophet Muhammad. One day, they said: ‘We were among the prosperouss of our people and we dislike that we be seen with them. So could you repel them when we sit with you?’

—————————————————————————————————-

In the previous article, The Quran is warning and threatening those who fear they shall be gathered to their Lord at the Day of Judgment.

It happened that some six followers of the Prophet Muhammad were weak, poor and needy; however, they never ever left the Prophet and kept adhered to him all the time. They attended all his teachings and were devoted to serve him.

The chief wealthy strong unbelievers of Mecca used to mock those six weak, poor and needy followers of the Prophet Muhammad.

One day the unbelievers of Mecca said unto the Prophet Muhammad in a mocking way:

O Muhammad, were you pleased with these weak, poor and needy followers?

Do you want us to be followers of these?’

‘We were among the prosperouss of our people and we dislike that we be seen with them. ‘We do not accept to be like or equal to these weak, poor and needy friends.

So could you repel them when we sit with you?’

The Prophet Muhammad wanted to do this, because of his desire that the unbelievers become Muslims; he agreed, but they said: ‘We will not be pleased until you write an agreement between us’.

When skin (they used to write on skin; there were no papers at that time) and ink was brought, the following verse was revealed saying:

(Repel not those who call upon their Lord at morning and evening, seeking His Countenance…)

Some years after this event, one of those weak, poor and needy followers said:

“This verse was revealed about us. We were weak and stayed at the Prophet’s, Allah bless him and give him peace, in the morning and evening. He taught us the Quran and goodness and instilled fear in us through the mention of hellfire and the Garden and also through that which benefits us and by means of mention of death and the Resurrection.

Ayah 6:52 says:

And do not repel or drive away those who call upon their Lord at morning and evening desiring, through their worship, His countenance.

If you repel them you will be of the evildoers.

If you repel them you will be of the unjust.

The verses 6:52 in different translations

QARIB:

Do not drive away those who call on their lord morning and evening, seeking only his face. nothing of their account falls upon you, and nothing of your account falls upon them, that you should drive them away and so become one of the harmdoers.

SHAKIR:

And do not drive away those who call upon their lord in the morning and the evening, they desire only his favor; neither were you answerable for any reckoning of theirs, nor were they answerable for any reckoning of yours, so that you should drive them away and thus be of the unjust.

PICKTHAL:

Repel not those who call upon their lord at morn and evening, seeking his countenance. thou art not accountable for them in aught, nor were they accountable for thee in aught, that thou shouldst repel them and be of the wrong-doers.

YUSUFALI:

Send not away those who call on their lord morning and evening, seeking his face. in naught art thou accountable for them, and in naught were they accountable for thee, that thou shouldst turn them away, and thus be (one) of the unjust.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (5) Can You See an Angel?

The arrogant idolaters of Mecca said: ‘Why has an angel not been sent down to Muhammad to confirm his truthfulness? However, no human being is capable of seeing an angel.

————————————————————————————-

Ayah 8-9: No human being is capable of seeing an angel

Then the prosperous idolaters of Mecca who were very arrogant said:

‘Why has an angel not been sent down to Muhammad to confirm his truthfulness?

Allah answerd them saying:

Those disbelievers do the same as those before them; they request a sign and if their request is granted and theu deny it, then they will not be given a chance for repentance or an excuse and they will be destroyed as those disbelievers before them. This is Allah’s custom with the deniers.

That is why if Allah sent down an angel, as they have requested and if they then did not believe, the matter, that they be destroyed, would have been decreed, and then they would not be given any respite, they would not be given any extra time for repentance or an excuse.

Then how come they can see an Angel? The Angels were created from pure light; they were different in nature and forms than human being that is why we could not see them.  However, if Allah wants us to see an Angel He will change the form of the Angel in order to be seen, Allah will make the Angel in the form of a man so that they would be able to see him and talk to him.

Then they will say: O nay, this is a man not an Angel because they do not know that no human being is capable of seeing the real form of the angel.

In conclusion, all the requests of the disbelievers were but obstinacy, stubbornness and intransigence.

The verses 6:8-9 in different translations

QARIB:

8) they ask: ‘why has no angel been sent down to him? ‘if we had sent down an angel, their fate would have been determined and they would never have been respited.

9) if we had made him an angel, we would have given him the resemblance of a man, and would have as such confused them with that in which they were already confused.

SHAKIR:

8) and they say: why has not an angel been sent down to him? and had we sent down an angel, the matter would have certainly been decided and then they would not have been respited.

 9) and if we had made him angel, we would certainly have made him a man, and we would certainly have made confused to them what they make confused

PICKTHAL:

8) they say: why hath not an angel been sent down unto him? if we sent down an angel, then the matter would be judged; no further time would be allowed them (for reflection).

9) had we appointed him (our messenger) an angel, we assuredly had made him (as) a man (that he might speak to men); and (thus) obscured for them (the truth) they (now) obscure.

YUSUFALI:

8) they say: “why is not an angel sent down to him?” if we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them.

9) if we had made it an angel, we should have sent him as a man, and we should certainly have caused them confusion in a matter which they have already covered with confusion.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (4) the unbelievers Amazing Appeal

The unbelievers said: ‘O Muhammad, by Allah we will not believe until you bring us a book from Allah along with four angels with it, bearing witness that it is from Allah and that you were His messenger’. Then, what happened?

————————————————————————————-

Ayah 6:7 of the Quran describes the request of the prosperous idolaters of Mecca

The enduring problem of the truth is that it faces the corruption. Some people want to establish the corruption and make it the ordinary manner of life.

In the History, the Arabs before Islam used to worship idols.

It is well known that Mecca was, and still is, the most Holy place in Arabia.

The prosperous Arabs of Mecca used to encourage worshipping the idols. Each tribe had its own idol and sometimes, each person had his own idol.

Of course, the prosperous idolaters of Mecca were anti- Muhammad, anti-Muslims and anti-Islam.They gave Muhammad and Muslims very hard time and they did their best to prevent spreading of Islam among the Arabs.

The prosperous idolaters of Mecca were very stubborn, dour, tenacious and adamant.

One day, they went to the Prophet Muhammad and said unto him:

‘O Muhammad, by Allah we will not believe until you bring us a book from Allah along with four angels with it, bearing witness that it is from Allah and that you were His messenger’.  And so this verse was revealed; it say:

Even, if Allah had revealed to you a Scripture, inscribed, on parchment, as they requested, and they then touched it with their hand hates; the disbelievers would have said, in disobedience and obduracy: ‘This is nothing but manifest sorcery’.

In other word, if the Angel Gabriel had brought down the Quran to you O Muhammad in one bulk writing upon parchment as asked for so that they would hold and read it, they would have said: This is naught else than mere magic.

Here, the Quran said that if the disbelievers even the requested Scripture that is written on parchment, as they demand hateed. This is more powerful than saying, ‘had they seen it with their eyes’, since the touch is more effective in eliminating doubt.

The verses 6:7 in different translations

QARIB:

had we sent down to you a book on parchment and they touched it with their own hand hates, those who disbelieved would say: ‘this is nothing but plain magic. ‘

SHAKIR:

and if we had sent to you a writing on a paper, then they had touched it with their hand hates, certainly those who disbelieve would have said: this is nothing but clear enchantment

PICKTHAL:

had we sent down unto thee (muhammad) (actual) writing upon parchment, so that they could feel it with their hand hates, those who disbelieve would have said: this is naught else than mere magic.

YUSUFALI:

if we had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment, so that they could touch it with their hand hates, the unbelievers would have been sure to say: “this is nothing but obvious magic!”
