Angels in Islam (26) their greeting word

The Angels’ greeting word on meeting is persistently one word; it is “Salam”.

Salam means Peace

—————————————–

The Angels’ greeting words on meeting are not:

  • How do you do
  • Good morning
  • Good afternoon
  • Good evening
  • Good day
  • Pleased to meet you
  • Hello
  • Hi, or
  • How are you

The Angels’ greeting words on meeting is persistently one word; it is “Salam”.

Salam, in Arabic, means Peace

Al-Salam that means “the Peace” is one of Allah’s names.

Salam was the Angels’ greeting words on meeting with the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham); the story of this meeting is mentioned three times in the Noble Quran in the verses 15:51-52, 11:69 and 51:25

The Angels’ greeting words on meeting with the good faithful believers at the moment of their death:

To those whom the angels cause to die when they are good, pure of any unbelief and pure from associating any partners with Allah, the Angels say: Peace be unto you! This is the greeting!

Then, the Angels will continue saying: Enter Paradise because of your faith and what you have done in your worldly life. (The verse 16:32)

The Angels’ greeting words on meeting with the good faithful believers at the gate of Paradise in the Afterlife:

And those who feared their Lord, those who keep their duty to their Lord and those who obey their Lord, they will be driven, gently, to Paradise in troops, until, when they reach it, and its gates are opened and its keepers (the Angels therein) will say to them, ‘Peace be to you! This is the greeting!

Then, the Angels will continue saying:

You are good! You succeeded and are saved. So enter it to abide therein with the decree that you are to abide in it forever, never to die or and never to leave it (the verse 39:73).

The manner of their being driven as well as the opening of the gates before their arrival is a way of honoring them; the driving of the disbelievers to the Hell, however, and the opening of the gates only upon their arrival so that all of its heat is retained for them, is a means of humiliating them.

Nevertheless, Salam, the Angels’ greeting word is only for the believers.

For the unbelievers there are the words of blaming, accusing and smiting their faces.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (6) Archeology of Rejecters

The Quran proposes studying the Archeology of Rejecters. Up to the moment, we have never heard about the Archeology of the people of Noah, Aad, Thamud, Lot or even the Archeology of the people of Pharoah of Moses and where the drowned Egyptian troops were.

————————————————————————————-

In Ayah 6:10-11, the Quran proposes a new field of Archeology; that is Archeology of Rejecters.

Archeology is important since it enables us to know the history of mankind and human behavior throughout the history. People sometimes need to recognize what occurred in the past to direct the future by avoiding the mistakes that had happened in the past.

Nowadays there were many schools for Archeology, many Archeology colleges, a lot of Archaeology magazine etc.

Nevertheless, up to the moment, we have never heard about the

  • Archeology of the people of Noah
  • Archeology of the people of Aad
  • Archeology of the people of Thamud
  • Archeology of the people of Lot
  • Archeology of the people of Pharoah and where the drowned Egyptian troops were.

All of those people were Rejectors; they denied their prophets and Allah has punished them.

Allah encourages mankind to travel and search for the nature of the consequence for the rejecters! To see what happened to those who denied Allah and His messengers. And this is the new field of Archeology; that is Archeology of Rejecters

All the Messengers of Allah have been derided before you O Muhammad; their people derided them as your people were deriding you now.

But those who scoffed at their Messengers were encompassed by that which they mocked, namely, by the punishment which sent down on them. Also, those who mock you O Muhammad will be encompassed likewise.

Say to the disbelievers: Travel in the land hate, and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers’, of the messengers, how they were destroyed through chastisement; perhaps they will take heed.

Travel through the earth and see what the end of those who rejected the truth was.  And this is Archeology of Rejecters

The verses 6:10-11 in different translations

QARIB:

10) Other messengers have been mocked before you. but those who scoffed at them were encompassed by that they had mocked. ‘

11) Say: ‘travel the land and see what the fate of those who belied was. ‘

SHAKIR:

10) And certainly messengers before you were mocked at, but that which they mocked at encompassed the scoffers among them

11) Say: travel in the land hate, then see what was the end of the rejecters

PICKTHAL:

10) Messengers (of Allah) have been derided before thee, but that whereat they scoffed surrounded such of them as did deride.

11) Say (unto the disbelievers): travel in the land hate, and see the nature of the consequence for the rejecters!

YUSUFALI:

10) Mocked were (many) messengers before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.

11) Say: “travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who rejected truth.”

Chapter 6 of the Quran (3) Read the History of Mankind

Allah encourages man to read the History of mankind to see the dreadful outcome of the sinful nations which denied Allah. This dreadful outcome is but Allah’s punishment in the life of this world. However, their punishment in the Afterlife will be more severe and eternal.

————————————————————————————-

Ayah 6 says: Read the History of mankind

Have the disbelievers not seen how many community of past communities Allah has destroyed

Have the disbelievers not seen how many generations of past generations Allah has destroyed

Have the disbelievers not seen how many nation of past nations Allah has destroyed.

Read the History of mankind.

What about those destroyed communities, generations or nations? Allah established them and assigned them in the earth through strength and abundance.  Allah gave them sovereignty and respite than the sovereignty and respite Allah has given you, O people of Mecca.

Allah has unleashed the heaven, the rain, upon them in torrents, one torrent after another, and made the rivers to flow beneath them.  Allah gave them sovereignty and respite than the sovereignty and respite Allah has given you, O people of Mecca

Then what happened? Have they obeyed Allah and the Prophets sent to them? No. They were but sinful and disobedient.

Then Allah destroyed them because of their sins, because of their denial of the prophets; and Allah rose up after them another generation.

Allah destroyed them because of denying Him and His prophets; and He created after them another generation, a different people who were better than they.

Herein, Allah encourages man to read the History of Mankind to realize what happened to the sinful nations which denied Allah. They will see their dreadful outcome.

This dreadful outcome is but Allah’s punishment in the life of this world. However, their punishment in the Afterlife will be more severe and eternal.

As an example, think about what happened to the Pharoh of Moses and his Egyptians troops.

The verses 6:6 in different translations

QARIB:

Have they not seen how many generations we have destroyed before them whom we had established in the land in a way we never established you, sending down for them abundant water from the sky and made the rivers to flow underneath them? Yet because they sinned, we destroyed them and raised up other generations after them.

SHAKIR:

Do they not consider how many a generation we have destroyed before them, whom we had established in the earth as we have not established you, and we sent the clouds pouring rain on them in abundance, and we made the rivers to flow beneath them, then we destroyed them on account of their faults and raised up after them another generation.

PICKTHAL:

See they not how many a generation we destroyed before them, whom we had established in the earth more firmly than we have established you, and we shed on them abundant showers from the sky, and made the rivers flow beneath them. Yet we destroyed them for their sins, and created after them another generation.

YUSUFALI:

See they not how many of those before them we did destroy? – generations we had established on the earth, in strength such as we have not given to you – for whom we poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins we destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them).
