What the British author: S. H. Leeder said about Islam and the Truth (2)

In his book, the British author: S. H. Leeder said “Praise be to Allah, who rewards those who fulfill their obligations and keep their trust. Allah, the truest of all tellers, said Be faithful to your pledges and do not break your promises, for these make you responsible to God.”

In his book: “Veiled mysteries of Egypt and the religion of Islam (1913)”, the British author: S. H. Leeder said in the introduction of his book: “There has always been a veil of mystery over the religion of I slam, from its very first days.”

What Leeder said about Islam and the Truth?

 “The Holy Koran says, and herein is the duty of man, Worship none but God, and be good to your parents and kindred, and to orphans and to the poor, and speak with men what is true, and pay the stated alms ‘ (Sura ii. 77).

Praise be to Allah, who rewards those who fulfill their obligations and keep their trust. Allah, the most true of all tellers, said Be faithful to your pledges and do not break your promises, for these make you responsible to God. Be sure God knows what you do; and when He destined you as the best of all peoples, He commanded you to do good and forsake evil. The foundation of true belief is faithfulness in the performance of every undertaking. A nation which lacks this quality, and allows itself to become familiar with lying, will be misguided, and all its striving will be in vain.

Suffering, misery, and poverty will overtake it, and in the next world punishment more severe and lasting. O creatures of God!

I call you to the practice of the truth, and faithfulness in every trust. Is there no reward even in this world for this?

To be believed by one’s friends, when one speaks, to be trusted in all the affairs of life? Such was the example and life of our great predecessors, who were before all things faithful, and true to themselves, and to one another. But, alas! We have forfeited the great teachings of our religion that stand now as a remonstrance against us. The Prophet on whom be blessings and peace as you know, hated lying, and he declared,

‘There is no belief in the unfaithful, nor a religion to the untrustful.’ “Shun ye the word of falsehood,” says the Koran (Sura xxii. 31). Mohammed declared that the guardian angel moved away from a man in detestation when he told a lie. By the testimony of all men who knew him Mohammed was a truthful man. “We have ever found thee a speaker of the truth,” they admitted, even in the days before they accepted his message. The only office allowed to the religious teacher is advice, guidance, and warning. Just as the layman will only with extreme reluctance refer to the faults of a brother Moslem, so even the preacher must not venture to expose the follies and frailties of others ; and to pry into the religious beliefs of other Moslems is not permitted even to the chief sheikhs. It is not proper to make any outer show of repentance; sin can only be confessed to God alone and in the secret heart. Of all these things, God will judge; and every function of priestcraft is opposed to the spirit of Islam.

Allah does not love (22) the corrupters who light the fires of war

Who said: God’s hand is fettered’ and He cannot give

Allah’ hands are wide open and spread out in bounty for both the righteous and the sinner

Who wished to kill the Prophet Muhammad?

What nation likes to light the fires of war?

We have seen that Allah does not love those:

1)    The disbelievers,

2)    The arrogant,

3)    Those who reject faith,

4)    The proud and the boastful,

5)    The swaggering braggart strutting in his steps,

6)    The harm doers,

7)    The vainglorious prideful boasters,

8)    Those that do wrong, the unjust,

9)    The impious and guilty,

10)The unfaithful and ungrateful,

11)The transgressors,

12)Those who exceed the limits,

13)The farthest who trespass beyond bounds,

14)The extravagant , Qaroun, Moses’ cousin and the alike and the mischief-maker.  

In this article, that Allah does not love the corrupters who light the fires of war.

The meanings of the verse 5:64 of the Noble Quran:

Verse 5:64 says:

The Jews said, when their circumstances became straitened, on account of their denial of the Prophet Muhammad, after having been the wealthiest of people:

‘God’s hand is fettered’ and cannot give; withholding the sending forth of provision upon us.

This was their metaphor for niggardliness

May God be exalted above this!

God, exalted be He, says: Fettered be, withheld be, their hands, from the performance of good deeds, as an invocation against them;

And they are cursed for what they have said.

They neither do good acts nor spend in good causes (and they are accursed

Nay, but His hands are extended out wide; a hyperbole for the attribute of generosity.

Both His hands are spread out wide in bounty; His hands are wide open for both the righteous and the sinner; He bestowed as He will, if He wishes, He gives, and if He wishes, He withholds.

The use in the verse of the dual for “yad”, ‘hand’, is intended to imply abundance, since the utmost that an affluent person can give freely of his wealth is when he gives it with both hands.

He expends how He will, in giving abundantly or straitening, and there can be no objection to this.

And what has been revealed to you from your Lord, of the Quran, will surely increase many of them in insolence and disbelief, because of their very disbelief in it;

And We have cast between them enmity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection, and so every sect among them is opposed to the other.

Every time they light the fires of war, that is, for war against the Prophet Muhammad, God extinguishes them, that is, every time they desire it (war), He repels them.

In other words, whenever they unite to kill Muhammad out of disobedience, Allah extinguished it; Allah makes them disunite and oppose each other.

They cause corruption in the land through preventing people from Muhammad and by inviting to other than Allah.

And they hasten about the earth in corruption, that is,

They hasten about corrupting, through acts of disobedience,

And Allah does not love corrupters, meaning that He will punish them.

Verse 5:64 in different translations

QARIB:

The Jews say: ‘the hand of Allah is chained. ‘their own hands are chained! and they are cursed for what they said! Rather, his hands are both outstretched, he spends as he will. that which Allah has sent down to you will surely increase the tyranny and disbelief of many of them. we have stirred among them enmity and hatred up until the day of resurrection. Whenever they kindle the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it. They spread corruption in the land, and Allah does not love those who corrupt.

SHAKIR:

And the Jews say: the hand of Allah is tied up! Their hands shall be shackled and they shall be cursed for what they say. nay, both his hands are spread out, he expends as he pleases; and what has been revealed to you from your lord will certainly make many of them increase in inordinacy and unbelief; and we have put enmity and hatred among them till the day of resurrection; whenever they kindle a fire for war Allah puts it out, and they strive to make mischief in the land; and Allah does not love the mischief-makers

PICKTHAL:

The Jews say: Allah’s hand is fettered. Their hands are fettered and they are accursed for saying so. Nay, but both his hands are spread out wide in bounty. He bestoweth as he will. that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy lord is certain to increase the contumacy and disbelief of many of them, and we have cast among them enmity and hatred till the day of resurrection. as often as they light a fire for war, Allah extinguisheth it. their effort is for corruption in the land, and Allah loveth not corrupters.

YUSUFALI:

The Jews say: “Allah’s hand is tied up.” be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. nay, both his hands are widely outstretched: he giveth and spendeth (of his bounty) as he pleaseth. but the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the day of judgment. every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. and Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

Allah does not love (15) the extravagant

The Quran says: Pay the due of your fruit upon the harvest day,

We have seen that Allah does not love the disbelievers, the arrogant, those who reject faith, the proud and the boastful, any swaggering braggart strutting in his steps, the harm doers, any vainglorious prideful boasters, those that do wrong, the unjust, the impious and guilty, the unfaithful and ungrateful, the transgressors, those who exceed the limits and the farthest who trespass beyond bounds.   In this article, that Allah does not love the extravagant.

The meanings of verse 6:141 of the Noble Quran:

Verse 6:141says:

And He (Allah), it is Who produces, creates gardens, orchards,

Trellised, extending along the ground, as in the case of watermelons, vines and other vegetations that spread out: i.e. not resting on trunks

And untrellised that which rests on trunks, rising upwards on a stem, such as palm-trees, walnuts and almonds,

And, He produces, palm-trees, the date palm, and crops of divers flavor sweetness sourness and flavor

And the olive and He created the olive tree.

Some are diverse in the shape and savor of its fruit and seed, and olives, and pomegranates, alike, in terms of their ‘alike’, is a circumstantial qualifier and unlike, in terms of their savor. 

And the pomegranate, of pomegranate trees,

They are alike in color and appearance and unlike in taste.

Eat you of the fruit thereof when it ripens, before its maturity [passes], and pay the due thereof, the alms as appropriate, on the day of its harvest

Eat of the fruit of the palm tree when it fruits, when it ripens,

And pay the due thereof upon the harvest day,

That is, one tenth or half of it, and do not be prodigal, by giving it all away, so that nothing remains for [the consumption of] your dependants.

And do not be prodigal

Truly, God does not love the prodigal, who overstep [the bounds of] that which He has delimited for them.

Do not spend in disobedience of Allah nor prevent the obedience of Allah;

Lo! Allah does not love the prodigals, those who spend in disobedience of Allah;

Verse 6:141 in different translations

QARIB:

He brings forth gardens, trellised and untrellised, palmtrees and crops, different to eat, and the olive and pomegranates alike and unlike. when it bears fruit eat of it and pay what is due (the zakat) of it upon the harvest day. but do not be wasteful; he does not love the wasteful.

SHAKIR:

and he it is who produces gardens (of vine), trellised and untrellised, and palms and seed-produce of which the fruits are of various sorts, and olives and pomegranates, like and unlike; eat of its fruit when it bears fruit, and pay the due of it on the day of its reaping, and do not act extravagantly; surely he does not love the extravagant

PICKTHAL:

He it is who produceth gardens trellised and untrellised, and the date-palm, and crops of divers flavour, and the olive and the pomegranate, like and unlike. eat ye of the fruit thereof when it fruiteth, and pay the due thereof upon the harvest day, and be not prodigal. lo! Allah loveth not the prodigals.

YUSUFALI:

it is he who produceth gardens, with trellises and without, and dates, and tilth with produce of all kinds, and olives and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in variety): eat of their fruit in their season, but render the dues that are proper on the day that the harvest is gathered. but waste not by excess: for Allah loveth not the wasters.
