Angels in Islam (28) is Gabriel the enemy of Jews?

The Jews claimed that Gabriel is their enemy because he did not come with good and that if it had been Michael they would have believed in Muhammad.

——————————–

Omar ibn al-Khattab was one of Muhammad best friends.

He was astonished how the Genuine Torah and the Quran confirm each other.

The conversation between Omar ibn al-Khattab and the chief rabbi?

Said ‘Omar ibn al-Khattab:

‘I used to go to the Jews upon their study of the (genuine) Torah and was amazed to see the conformity of the Quran with the Torah and of the Torah with the Quran.

On one occasion they said: ‘O ‘Omar! We do not like anyone more than we like you’.

Omar asked: ‘And why is that?’

They said: ‘Because you come to us and mix with us’.

Omar said: ‘I come to you only because of my amazement at how the different parts of the Book of Allah strengthen each other, and how the Quran is in conformity with the Torah and how the Torah is in conformity with the Quran’.

They said: who among the Angels came to your prophet?

Omar said: Gabriel

Omar continued: ‘I adjure you by Allah and by that which was revealed to you of Scripture, do you know that he is Allah’s Messenger?’

Their chief said to them: ‘He has implored you by Allah, so do tell him’.

They said: ‘You are our chief; you tell him’.

Their chief said: ‘We do know that he is Allah’s Messenger!’

Omar said: ‘You are the one who shall be subject to the worst form of destruction if you all know that he is Allah’s Messenger and then do not follow him’.

Their chief rabbi said: Let us go to him to ask him some questions at first

The Jews came to the Prophet, and said: ‘O Muhammad! We would like to ask you about a few things; we shall follow you if you answer them.

They asked him about many things like faith, deeds. Afterlife etc.

The Prophet Muhammad answered them according to what inspired to him from Allah.

The Jews looked at each other, they were confused about what to say, should they say: Now we believe in you O Muhammad as the promised last prophet found in Torah?

Their chief rabbi said: Who, among the Angels, comes to you? For there is not a single prophet except that an angel comes to him with a message and revelation from his Lord, glorified and majestic is He, so who is the angel who comes to you?’

Muhammad said: ‘it is Gabriel’.

Their chief rabbi said: ‘That is the one who comes down with war and fighting. He is our enemy. If you had said: Michael, who comes down with rain and mercy, we would have followed you’.

It follows that the Jews claimed that Gabriel did not come with good, that they did not love him, and that if it had been Michael they would have believed in Muhammad.

And so Allah revealed the verses 2:97-98 that mean:

Say O Muhammad not to Jews only but to mankind

Gabriel is the Angel who brought the Quran down upon your heart by Allah’s permission and command

The revealed Quran is confirming the scriptures before it (e.g. the Genuine Torah)

The Quran brought down upon your heart by Gabriel is a guidance from error and good tidings, of Paradise, for the believers

Who is an enemy to Gabriel is automatically an enemy to Allah and to the entire Angels.

Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel, let him die in exasperation

Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His Angels and His messengers, and Gabriel and Michael then surely Allah is an enemy to him

Anyone who is an enemy to Allah’s Angels, Gabriel, and Michael etc. is but an unbeliever and he will dwell in the Eternal Hell forever!

The Jews said Gabriel did not bring good, what good is greater than the Quran that descended through him?’ Does it not suffice them that Allah sent down the Quran upon you O Muhammad?

The thing is Gabriel came down many times to punish the Jews when they, many times, disobeyed Allah. But, did he do it by his own or by Allah’s permission and command?

The one who is perfectly doing his Job is an enemy only to those who hate the truth!

Nevertheless, does the enmity of the Jews harm Gabriel?

The Real Gabriel’s size is more than 100 times the total earth’ size!

The verses 2:97-98 in different translations:

QARIB:

-Say: ‘whoever is an enemy of Gabriel, indeed, he has brought it down by the permission of Allah to your heart, confirming what was before it and a guidance and glad tidings to the believers.

-Whoever is an enemy of Allah, his Angels, his messengers, Gabriel, and Michael indeed Allah is the enemy of the unbelievers. ‘

SHAKIR:

-Say: whoever is the enemy of Jibreel– for surely he revealed it to your heart by Allah’s command, verifying that which is before it and guidance and good news for the believers

-Whoever is the enemy of Allah and his Angels and his messengers and Jibreel and Meekaeel, so surely Allah is the enemy of the unbelievers

PICKTHAL:

-Say (o Muhammad, to mankind): who is an enemy to Gabriel! For he it is who hath revealed (this scripture) to thy heart by Allah’s leave, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, and a guidance and glad tidings to believers;

-Who is an enemy to Allah, and his Angels and his messengers, and Gabriel and Michael! Then, lo! Allah (himself) is an enemy to the disbelievers.

YUSUFALI:

-Say: whoever is an enemy to Gabriel-for he brings down the (revelation) to thy heart by Allah’s will, a confirmation of what went before, and guidance and glad tidings for those who believe,-

-Whoever is an enemy to Allah and his Angels and messengers, to Gabriel and Michael, – lo! Allah is an enemy to those who reject faith.

In Verse 2:216 Allah puts three valid Facts for mankind that are found all the time and anywhere on the earth and at whatever time.

The first Fact:

War is hateful but it is inevitable!

War is offensive but it is obligatory.

The second Fact:

You may hate a thing although it is good for you.

The third Fact:

You may love a thing although it is evil for you.

Surely, Allah knows, and you do not

Allah knows everything, while you do not know

Verse 61:4 talks about the best fighter in the eye of God.

Truly Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in battle array.

Fighting in Allah’ cause means fighting against the devil and his parties.

Verse 61:4 has a story, it is:

‘Abd Allah bin Salam (one of the top Jewish Priest who became Muslim) said: “We sat a group of Companions of Muhammad and reminded each other. We said: ‘If only we knew the most beloved works to Allah, glorified and exalted is He, for we would then perform them’.

Then He encouraged them to strive in His way, saying: (Lo! Allah loves those who battle for His cause, in His obedience in ranks, as if they were a solid structure, like a cemented block.

Indeed

Allah loves,

Allah assists and

Allah honors

Those who fight for His cause in ranks as if they were a solid structure, with all of its parts compacted together, firm, like a cemented block.

Verse 2:216 in different translations:

(Offensive) fighting is obligatory for you, though it is hateful to you. But you may hate a thing although it is good for you, and may love a thing although it is evil for you. Allah knows, and you do not.

SHAKIR:

Fighting is enjoined on you, and it is an object of dislike to you; and it may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you, and Allah knows, while you do not know

PICKTHAL:

Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.

YUSUFALI:

Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. but it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. but Allah knoweth, and ye know not.

Verse 61:4 in different translations:

PICKTHAL:

Lo! Allah loveth them who battle for his cause in ranks, as if they were a solid structure.

Allah does not forbid you in regard to those who did not wage war against you, from among the disbelievers, on account of religion and did not expel you from your homes,

That you should treat them kindly

That you should have relations with them and help them

And deal with them justly ) by honoring your pledges to them:

It is obvious that Allah did not forbid the Prophet Muhammad from having good relations with the disbelievers to have peace.

Assuredly Allah loves the just dealers, those who are just and are not biased.

————————————————————–

The Background of verse 8:60 and a story about it:

Allah, exalted is He, says to the believers: “You have in Abraham as well as in the prophets and friends of Allah good role models, regarding their declaration of enmity towards their relatives who were idolaters, which should be emulated”.

So when this verse was revealed, the believers declared their relatives who were idolaters to be their enemies. They showed this enmity to them and absolved themselves of all the things that they did or believed in.

Allah, exalted is He, knew that this was hard on the believers and so He revealed

“It may be that Allah will ordain love between you and those of them with whom ye are at enmity” [60:7].

And He did just that when many of them embraced Islam, thus becoming brothers and friends. Consequently, they mingled with and married from among each other. The Messenger Muhammad, Allah bless him, married Umm Habibah, the daughter of Abu Sufyan (who was one of the leaders of the disbelievers).

As a result, Abu Sufyan mellowed a little. When he heard of the news of his daughter’s marriage, he said while he was still an idolater: “What an honor, He is an outstanding person; no harm shall come to him”.

Also, there is a story about this verse:

Asma’s mother (was disbeliever) went to visit her daughter Asma’ and took with her gifts: desert lizards, clarified butter and dry cheese. However, Asma’ refused to let her in her house and rejected her gifts.

‘A’ishah (Muhammad’s wife) went on behalf of Asma’ to ask the Prophet Muhammad. Allah, exalted is He, revealed (Allah does not forbid you those who warred not against you on account of religion) [60:8].

Asma’ then let her mother into her house and accepted her gifts.

Verse 60:8 says that Allah loves those who are just and are not biased.

The verse Commands the Muslims to deal kindly with the disbelievers who do not wage war against them.

The verse commands that Muslims should treat them kindly, have relations with them, help them and deal with them justly. Assuredly Allah loves the just dealers, those who are just and are not biased.

Verse 60:8 in different translations:

QARIB:

Allah does not forbid you to be kind and to act justly to those who have neither made war on your religion nor expelled you from your homes. Allah loves the just.

SHAKIR:

Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.

PICKTHAL:

Allah forbiddeth you not those who warred not against you on account of religion and drove you not out from your homes, that ye should show them kindness and deal justly with them. lo! Allah loveth the just dealers.

YUSUFALI:

Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (94) how Evil they Judge

Did they know Allah? And, if they knew Allah, what is their belief’s problem. The Quran says: So that which is intended for their gods does not reach Allah, and that which is intended for Allah does reach their gods! Evil is their ordinance. How evil they judge!  It is well known that Islam prohibits all of the above faith and acts.

——————————————-

The background of Ayah 6:136

The faith of the unbelievers among the Arabs was amazing.

Did they know Allah?

Yes, they did. The name of Allah as the Almighty Supreme Creator was known among the entire Arabs before Islam.

But, if they knew Allah, what is their belief’s problem?

Their faith was that Allah is the Supreme God; but

§  They can not talk to Allah directly,

§  They can not pray to Allah directly

§  They can not worship Allah directly

To solve this faith-problem, they – with the help of their devils- invented gods to worship.

Their invented gods were the idols made of stones.

They – as their devils inspired unto them – claimed that their idols are gods or Allah’s partners or Allah’s associates which organize the world and take care of it.  They had idols for rain, idols for plants, idols for war, idols for marriage, idols for luck, idol for hunting etc.

§  They used to talk to their gods (idols) directly

§  They used to pray to their gods (idols) directly

§  They used to worship their gods (idols) directly

However, they used to assign to Allah the harvests and the cattle and also assign to their gods (idols) the harvests and the cattle but their way in doing that was very funny.

Ayah 6:136 says:

They ascribe to Allah of the crops and cattle and they say: “This is Allah’s” in their make believe and this is for Allah’s partners (their gods, idols)

However, if any of the portions of Allah’s associates (their gods) fell into Allah’s portion, they used to restore it to that of their gods,

But, when something of Allah’s portion fell into their gods’ portion, they would leave it there, saying, ‘Allah is Independent and He is not in need of this’,

Allah, exalted be He, says: So that which is intended for their associates (gods) does not reach Allah, and that which is intended for Allah does reach their associates (gods).

Evil is that, provision of theirs, which they decree!

Evil is their ordinance.

Evil is that which they judge

How evil they judge!

It is well known that Islam prohibits all of the above Evil faith and acts.

—————————————————————-

The verse 6:136 in different translations

QARIB:

They set aside for Allah a shwere of what he has created of tilth and cattle saying: ‘this is for Allah so they claim and this for our associates (gods). ‘The shwere of their associates never reaches Allah, but the shwere of Allah reaches their associates. How evil they judge!

SHAKIR:

and they set apart a portion for Allah out of what he has created of tilth and cattle, and say: this is for Allah– so they assert– and this for our associates; then what is for their associates, it reaches not to Allah, and wver is (set apart) for Allah, it reaches to their associates; evil is that which they judge

PICKTHAL:

they assign unto Allah, of the crops and cattle which he created, a portion, and they say: “this is Allah’s” – in their make-believe – “and this is for (his) partners in regard to us.” thus that which (they assign) unto his partners in them reacheth not Allah and that which (they assign) unto Allah goeth to their (so-called) partners. Evil is their ordinance.

YUSUFALI:

Out of what Allah hath produced in abundance in tilth and in cattle, they assigned him a shwere: they say, according to their fancies: “this is for Allah, and this” – for our “partners”! but the shwere of their” partners “reacheth not Allah, whilst the shwere of Allah reacheth their “partners” ! Evil (and unjust) is their assignment!

Chapter 6 of the Quran (23) who accept the Call to Faith

The Quran says: Only those who hear in such a way so as to understand and take heed will answer the call to faith. As for those who have dead hearts, Allah will resurrect them, in the Hereafter, and then to Him they will be returned, and He will requite them for their deeds.

—————————————————————————————————–

The Prophet Muhammad was very caring and compassionate about his people, the unbelievers of Mecca. Muhammad was sad because he did not like them to face their terrible outcome in the life of this world and their dwelling in the Eternal Hell in the Afterlife.

The Verse 6:36 says: Only those who hear

Only those who hear, in such a way so as to understand and take heed, and who give their assent will answer your call to faith.

As for the dead, that is, the disbelievers; they were likened to them on account of their inability to hear Allah will resurrect them, in the Hereafter, and then to Him they will be returned, and He will requite them for their deeds.

It is also said that “As for the dead” means that the unbelievers have dead hearts that were unable to understand .

It is also said that “As for the dead” means those unbelievers who will be killed in the wars with the Muslims.

And this was their terrible outcome in the life of this world

The Verse 6:37 says: The disbelievers want a sign

The disbelievers of Mecca heard Muhammad reciting the verses of Quran that mention Allah’s miracle sent to his prophets e.g. the she-camel of the prophet Sālih or the staff of Moses or the miracles of Jesus. Mocking of Muhammad, the disbelievers said: Why has a sign not been sent down to Muhammad from his Lord?

Say, to them O Muhammad: ‘surely Allah has the power to send down a sign, from among those they have requested, but most of them do not know that its sending down would be a trial for them, for if they then still denied it, they would necessarily be destroyed.

—————————————————

The verse 6:36-37 in different translations

QARIB:

36) Those who listen will surely answer. as for the dead, Allah will revive them. to him they shall return.

37) They ask: ‘why has no sign been sent down to him from his lord? ‘Say: ‘Allah is able to send down a sign. ‘But most of them do not know.

SHAKIR:

36) Only those accept who listen; and (as to) the dead, Allah will raise them, then to him they shall be returned.

37) And they say: why has not a sign been sent down to him from his lord? Say: surely Allah is able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know

PICKTHAL:

36) Only those can accept who hear. As for the dead, Allah will raise them up; then unto him they will be returned.

37) They say: why hath no portent been sent down upon him from his lord? Say: lo! Allah is able to send down a portent. But most of them know not.

YUSUFALI:

36) Those who listen (in truth), be sure, will accept: as to the dead, Allah will raise them up; then will they be turned unto him.

37) They say: “why is not a sign sent down to him from his lord?” say: “Allah hath certainly power to send down a sign: but most of them understand not.
