Atheists in Quran (50) think about Earth’s Rotation

The Quran talks about Earth’s rotation saying:

Have you considered, if Allah were to make the night everlasting over you until the Day of Resurrection? Who is a god beside Allah who could bring you light? Moreover,

What would you think if Allah made daylight everlasting for you until the Day of Judgment without night? Who is a god beside Allah who could bring you night?

———————————

Earth’s rotation is the rotation of the Earth around its own axis. The Earth rotates from the west towards the east in counter-clockwise movement.

The Earth rotates once in about 24 hours with respect to the sun.

Earth’s Rotation is the cause Day and Night.

Half of the Earth is daylight while, at the same time, the other half is dark night.

Watch this video of “Day and Night and Earth’s Rotation”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLl8sDZRSYg

Now let us see how the Quran has dealt with this scientific knowledge since more than 1400 years ago.

The Quran declares many times that Allah, the Almighty Creator, created the Earth.

Allah gave the Earth its features that causes seasons, night and day, earthquake, volcanic eruptions, fertile soil, Desertification etc.

The Earth submits totally to Allah’s will.

Allah commanded the Earth to rotate around its own axis from the west towards the east once in about 24 hours and the Earth obeyed.

What if Allah commands the Earth to stop its rotation around its axis?

What if Allah orders the Earth: Stop Rotation?

In this case,

  • Half of the Earth that is facing the sun will be eternally daylight
  • The other half will be eternally dark night

The verses 28:71-72 of the Noble Quran talk about this issue.

The verses take the Atheists and unbelievers on a round presenting them with scenes of the universe. The verses alert them to two great universal signs.

The daily two alternative miracles

In the physical world the Night and the Day are both blessings, the one for rest and the other for work, and the alternation itself is one of the mercies of Allah, and none but Allah can give us these blessings.

Because of their long familiarity with the succession of night and day, people forget their ever-renewing status. Rarely do they admire the sunrise or sunset, and only rarely do they reflect thoughtfully on the spreading of the day or the darkening that ushers in the night. They do not reflect on the act of grace that brings their succession with all that it involves of mercy and life renewal. The Quran alerts them from the long familiarity that blunts their senses and invites them to reflect on these great universal scenes. It presents them with the possibility of either the night or the day lasting forever, and the terrible consequences of either eventuality.

It is a fact that people seldom appreciate things until they lose them.

The meanings of the verses 28:71-72

Say, to them, O Muhammad: ‘Have you considered, if Allah were to make the night everlasting over you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than Allah, could bring you daylight during which you could earn a living?

Will you not then listen to this in a way to understand it, and so repent and submit to Allah?

Will you not then hear?

Will you not obey He who made the day and the night for you?

People miss the light of day when the winter nights become a little longer, and cannot wait for the bright sun when it disappears for a few hours behind clouds. What will they do then if they lose its light completely, with the night stretching perpetually over their world?

This question supposes that they will remain alive in such an eventuality, when all life is in peril unless daylight is forthcoming.

Moreover,

Say also to them, O Muhammad: what do you think if Allah made daylight everlasting for you until the Day of Judgment without night, who is a god other than Allah who could, bring you night wherein you rest from any weariness?

Will you not then see the error you are upon when you do not believe and so repent of it.

Will you not believe He Who made the day and the night for you?

People look for the shade when the hours of day stretch and become very hot, and they look forward to the coming of the night when the days stretch longer in the summer. They enjoy their repose and rest in the night. All creatures need the night when they can renew the energy they spend during the day. What would happen to them then, should they remain alive, if the day is endlessly perpetuated until the Day of Judgment?

Indeed, all life could perish in a day that never ends.

The verses 28:71-72 in different translations:

QARIB:

71-Say: ‘think! What if Allah should enshroud you in unceasing night till the day of resurrection, what god, other than Allah, shall bring you light! Will you not hear?’

72-Say: ‘what would you think if Allah should make the day unceasing over you till the day of resurrection, what god, other than Allah, shall bring you the night to sleep in. will you not see? ‘

SHAKIR:

71-Say: tell me, if Allah were to make the night to continue incessantly on you till the day of resurrection, who is the god besides Allah that could bring you light? Do you not then hear?

72-Say: tell me, if Allah were to make the day to continue incessantly on you till the day of resurrection, who is the god besides Allah that could bring you the night in which you take rest? Do you not then see?

PICKTHAL:

71-Say: have ye thought, if Allah made night everlasting for you till the day of resurrection, who is a god beside Allah who could bring you light? Will ye not then hear?

72-Say: have ye thought, if Allah made day everlasting for you till the day of resurrection, who is a god beside Allah who could bring you night wherein ye rest? Will ye not then see?

YUSUFALI:

71-Say: see ye? If Allah were to make the night perpetual over you to the day of judgment, what god is there other than Allah, who can give you enlightenment? Will ye not then hearken?

72-Say: see ye? if Allah were to make the day perpetual over you to the day of judgment, what god is there other than Allah, who can give you a night in which ye can rest? Will ye not then see?

The Cow in the Quran

1) The Story of the cow and the revival of the killed Israelite:

One Israelite was found killed. All the Israelites gathered around Moses asking him to find out who killed the man. Moses asked Allah. Allah commanded the Israelites to slaughter a cow, any cow. The Israelites yelled at Moses: are you fooling! Moses said this is Allah’s command. Then they ask about the cow age, color, marital status and they made it difficult to find out such a cow. Finally they did. Allah commanded Moses to lightly knock the killed man with a part of the slaughtered cow. The killed man woke up and told them who killed him.

This story has some deep theological significance; Allah showed up to the Israelites that

  • The cow is a sign for Allah the Creator,
  • The cow is by no means a god and
  • Allah is able to woke-up the dead.

This is because the Israelites worshiped the cow and the ox and considered the cow a god.

Also, the Israelites deny the afterlife.

In addition, this story is not found in the Bible.

Surah 2: 67-73

67- and when Moses said to his people: surely Allah commands you that you should sacrifice a cow; they said: do you ridicule us? He said: I seek the protection of Allah from being one of the ignorant (fool)!”

68- They said: call on your Lord for our sake to make it plain to us what she (the cow) is. Moses said: he says, surely she is a cow neither advanced in age nor too young, of middle age between that (and this); do therefore what you are commanded

69- They said: call on your lord for our sake to make it plain to us what her color is. Moses said: he says, surely she is a yellow cow; her color is intensely yellow, giving delight to the beholders

70- they said: call on your lord for our sake to make it plain to us what she is, for surely to us the cows are all alike, and if Allah please we shall surely be guided aright

71- Moses said: he says, surely she is a cow not made submissive that she should plough the land, nor does she irrigate the tilth; sound, without a blemish in her. they said: now you have brought the truth; so they sacrificed her, though they had not the mind to do (it)

72- And when you killed a man, then you disagreed with respect to that, and Allah was to bring forth that which you were going to hide

73- so we said: strike the (dead body) with part of the (sacrificed cow), thus Allah brings the dead to life, and he shows you his signs so that you may understand

2) What is forbidden to eat, the male, the female, or the newborn cow?

The idolater Ignorant Arabs before Islam had some diverse religious traditions about the cows.

Some believed that it is eating the male cow (bull) is forbidden

Others believed that eating the female cow is forbidden.

Another Ignorant idolater Arabs believed that eating the first newborn cow is forbidden.

The Quran warns anyone who is saying that; the Quran says:

  • Is this Allah’s commandments or a forged invented lie?
  • Were you witnesses when Allah enjoined you this?

This issue is not found in the Bible.

Surah 6:144

And of camels a pair, and cows a pair cows. Say: has he forbidden the two males or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when Allah enjoined you this? Who, then, is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah that he should lead astray men without knowledge? Surely, Allah does not guide the unjust people

3) Joseph interpreted the Egyptian\s King’s dream of the fat cows and the seven lean cows

The Bible says that the lean cows were ugly.

The Quran does not say that.

In order to know the difference between the story of Joseph and Pharaoh in Bible vs. Quran, I recommend you smart reader to read the Story of the Prophet Joseph, the son of the Prophet Jacob it in both books.

Surah 12:43 and 46

43- The king (of Egypt) said: “i do see (in a vision) seven fat kine (cows), whom seven lean ones devour, and seven green ears of corn, and seven (others) withered. o ye chiefs! Expound to me my vision if it be that ye can interpret visions.”

46- The chief cupbearer said “O Joseph! O man of truth! Expound to us (the dream) of seven fat kine (cows) whom seven lean ones devour, and of seven green ears of corn and (seven) others withered: that i may return to the people, and that they may understand.”

Chapter 6 of the Quran (59) the Obese Rabbi

——————————————-

It is well known that the last Prophet Muhammad is mentioned in full details in the Torah; that is why many Jewish rabbis like Abdullah ben Salam embraced Islam.

Allah commanded His Prophet Muhammad, to ask the Jews about his matter and how he is mentioned in their Scriptures. Muhammad did that many times.

However, their resentful envy toward Muhammad drove them to disbelieve in Allah and His Messenger.

The Jews said ‘Allah has never sent down any Scripture from heaven.’

Allah revealed: Say unto the Jews who speak thus: Who revealed the Book which Moses brought, a light and guidance for mankind?

It is also narrated that an obese rabbi (Malik ibn al-Sayf) went to argue with the Prophet about his prophethood.

Muhammad said to him: ‘I plead with you by Him who has revealed the Torah to Moses, do you not find in the Torah that Allah loathes the obese rabbi?’

[In the genuine Torah that was revealed unto the Prophet Moses, an obese rabbi is a symbol indicates that such rabbi eats much and gives the needy a little]

Hearing that, the obese rabbi was horrified and he has got angry then he said: ‘O Muhammad has Allah revealed a Scripture to you?

The Prophet answered: ‘Yes, He did!’

The obese rabbi said: ‘By Allah, Allah has never sent down any Scripture from heaven. Allah has never sent anything to any human being’

The obese rabbi was shocked, when Muhammad’s companions exclaimed: ‘Woe unto you, not even to Moses!’

And so Allah, revealed Ayah 6:91; it says:

They do not estimate Allah its true estimation when they say: Allah has naught revealed unto a human being.

See the interpretation of the verse 6:91 in the next article.

Also, the interested reader may find a lot of articles about ‘Muhammad in the Bible” and the story of Jewish rabbis, Abdullah ben Salam who embraced Islam

—————————————————

The verses 6:91 in two translations

QARIB:

They have not valued Allah with his true value, when they said ‘Allah has never sent down anything to a mortal. ‘Say: ‘who, then sent down the book which Moses brought, a light and guidance for people? You put it on to parchments, revealing them and hiding much, you have now been taught what neither you nor your fathers knew before! ‘Say: ‘Allah. ‘Then leave them, playing in their plunging.

SHAKIR:

And they do not assign to Allah the attributes due to him when they say: Allah has not revealed anything to a mortal. Say: who revealed the book which musa brought, a light and guidance to men, which you make into scattered writings which you show while you conceal much? and you were taught what you did not know, (neither) you nor your fathers. Say: Allah then leave them sporting in their vain discourses

Chapter 6 of the Quran (48) Abraham’s History Disclosed

Allah commanded His Last Prophet Muhammd to disclose the Trure History of Abraham saying: “And, mention, when Abraham said to his father Azar, who was idolator: Do you take idols as gods, to worship? I see you and your people in manifest error.”

—————————————————————————————————-

In the previous article, Allah is the Knower of the unseen and the seen; Allah is the knower of what happened, what happens and what will happen.

In Ayah 6:74, Allah unveils some events that happened to is great Prophet Abraham, the Prophets’ father. These events were never ever found in any book on the earth save the Quran, the book of Truth.

Allah commanded His Last Prophet Muhammd to disclose the Trure History of Abraham saying:

And, mention, when Abraham said in a rebuke to his father Azar, who was idolator: Do you take idols as gods, to worship? I see you and your people, by this act of taking them as gods, in manifest error, far from the truth.

Abraham’s father and his folk used to worship so many idols as gods; they were small and large idols and male and female idols. They were in manifest disbelief and wrong in so worshipping such idols.

Then, Ayah 6:75 says:

And so, just as Allah showed Abraham the misguidance of his father and his people, Allah showed him the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, that he might infer thereby the truth of Our Oneness, and that he might be of those knowing it with certainty.

Allah showed Abraham that which is between the heavens and the earth: the sun, the moon and the stars and told him the details about them that he might be of those who acknowledge that Allah is One, the Creator of the heavens and the earth and all that which is in them.

it is also said that Allah made him ascend to heaven. Abraham saw up to the seventh heaven so that he may have the certitude of inspiration.

But why did Allah made him ascend to heaven to see the earth, moon, planets, sun and stars? See the next article.

The verses 6:74-75 in different translations

QARIB:

74- (And remember) when Abraham said to his father azar: ‘will you take idols for gods, surely i see you and your people were in clear error. ‘

75- And so we showed Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, so that he might be of those who were certain.

SHAKIR:

74- And when ibrahim said to his sire, azar: do you take idols for gods? surely i see you and your people in manifest error.

75- And thus did we show ibrahim the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and that he might be of those who were sure.

PICKTHAL:

74- (Remember) when Abraham said unto his father azar: takest thou idols for gods? lo! i see thee and thy folk in error manifest.

75- Thus did we show Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and the earth that he might be of those possessing certainty:

YUSUFALI:

74- Lo! Abraham said to his father azar: “takest thou idols for gods? for i see thee and thy people in manifest error.”

75- So also did we show Abraham the power and the laws of the heavens and the earth, that he might (with understanding) have certitude?

Chapter 6 of the Quran (43) Turn Away From Them

Allah commands His Prophet with this verse in Mecca, but the prophetic Companions found it hard to implement. They were later given dispensation to sit with the idolaters so as to admonish and warn them.

—————————————————————————————————-

Although the Quran is the absolute truth; however, your people have denied it.

The Prophet Muhammad did his best effort to persuade the people of Mecca to stop worshipping the idols and to worship Allah, the only one true God.

The idolators and pagan leaders of Mecca were full of pride and too proud to listen to the truth.

The Prophet Muhammad used to recite the Quran in Kaabah, the Holy Place in Mecca, hoping that the unbelievers may listen to it and may understand.

However, the idolators and pagan leaders of Mecca used to mock the Quran and to mock Muhammad.

Indeed, this upsets the Prophet Muhammad.

In Ayah 6:68, Allah has commanded His Last Prophet Muhammad:

When you see those who engage in discourse about the Quran, in mockery, turn away from them. And do not sit with them, until they discourse on some other topic.

In other words, when you see those who meddle with our revelations, withdraw from them.

When you see those who mock the Quran, leave their assembly until they meddle with another topic.

Keep away from who were mocking you.

Leave them until they talk about something other than the Quran and such that they cease mocking you.

And if Satan should make you forget and you sit with the evildoing folk, and then do not sit, after you remember what Allah has commanded you.

In other words, if the devil causes you to forget and you sits with them, after being warned against it, then do not sit after the remembrance; i.e. after being reminded with the congregation of wrong-doers or the idolaters.

Allah commanded His Prophet with this verse in Mecca, but the prophetic Companions found it hard to implement. They were later given dispensation to sit with the idolaters so as to admonish and warn them.

—————————————————

The verse 6:68 in different translations

QARIB:

When you see those who plunge (scoffing) into our verses, withdraw from them till they plunge into some other talk. if satan causes you to forget, leave the wrongdoing people as soon as you remember.

SHAKIR:

And when you see those who enter into false discourses about our communications, withdraw from them until they enter into some other discourse, and if the shaitan causes you to forget, then do not sit after recollection with the unjust people.

PICKTHAL:

And when thou seest those who meddle with our revelations, withdraw from them until they meddle with another topic. And if the devil causes thee to forget, sit not, after the remembrance, with the congregation of wrong-doers.

YUSUFALI:

When thou seest men engaged in vain discourse about our signs, turn away from them unless they turn to a different theme. if satan ever makes thee forget, then after recollection, sit not thou in the company of those who do wrong.
