How a preacher or priest in Christianity can ever go to Islam?

How could a preacher have turned his back on the perfect plan of salvation of Jesus Christ on the cross for you sins and converted to Islam?

The American ex–preacher Yusuf Estes continues saying:

Sign Inside of Me

And then after a while I raised up my head and I noticed something. No, I didn’t see birds or angels coming out of the sky nor did I hear voices or music, nor did I see bright lights and flashes. What I did notice was a change inside of me. I was aware now more than ever before that it was time for me to stop any lying and doing anything sneaky. It was time that I really work at being an honest and upright man. I knew now what I had to do.

Wash Away the “OLD”

So I went upstairs and took a shower with the distinct idea that I was ‘washing’ away the sinful old person that I had become over the years. And I was now coming into a new, fresh life. A life based on truth and proof.

And Become New!

Around 11:00 A.M. that morning, I stood before two witnesses, one the ex-priest, formerly known as Father Peter Jacob’s, and the other Mohamed Abel Rehman and announced my ‘shahadah’ (open testimony to the Oneness of God and the prophethood of Muhammad, peace be upon him).

“I bear witness, there is no deity to worship, except Almighty Allah, alone and He has no partners and I bear witness that Mohammad is His messenger and servant.”

My Wife Was Next

A few minutes later, my wife follow along and gave the same testimony. But hers was in front of 3 witnesses (me being the third).

Then My Father

My father was a bit more reserved on the subject and waited a few more months before he made his shahadah (public testimony). But he did finally commit to Islam and began offering prayers right along with me and the other Muslims in the local masjid (mosque).

Children Too!

The children were taken out of the Christian school and placed in Muslim schools. And now ten years later, they are memorizing much of the Quran and the teachings of Islam.

Father’s Wife (Stepmother) Next

My father’s wife finally acknowledged, before she died, that Jesus could not be a son of God and that he must have been a mighty prophet of God, but not God. She passed away within a few months of this statement at age 86. May Allah accept her statement of faith, amen (Pronounced Ameen in Arabic).

Houseful of New Muslims – What’s Next?

Now stop and think. A whole entire household of people from varying backgrounds and ethnic groups coming together in truth to learn how to know and worship the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. Think. A Catholic priest; a minister of music and preacher of the Gospel; an ordained minister and builder of Christian schools; and the children, even a great-grandmother – they all come into Islam!

His Mercy and Guidance

Only by His Mercy were we all guided to see the real truth of Islam, by removing the coverings over our ears and the blinders on our eyes, no longer having seals over our hearts – He was Guiding us now.

Amazing Story – Family and Friends Entering Islam – From One Man

If I were to stop right here, I’m sure that you would have to admit that at least, this is an amazing story, right? After all, three religious leaders of three separate denominations all going into one very opposite belief at the same time and then soon after the rest of the household.

More? – Yes! Baptist Seminary Student Reads Quran – Accepts Islam

But that is not all. There is more! The same year, while I was in Grand Prairie, Texas (near Dallas) I met a Baptist seminary student from Tennessee named Joe, who also came to Islam after reading the Holy Quran while in BAPTIST SEMINARY COLLEGE!

More? Yes. Catholic Priest Loves Islam – But Needs His Job!

There are others as well. I recall the case of the Catholic priest in a college town who talked about the good things in Islam so much that I was forced to ask him why he didn’t enter Islam. He replied: “What? And loose my job?” – His name is Father John and we still pray for Allah to Guide Him.

Why Do Priests Enter Islam? The real story of conversion of the Preacher Yusuf Estes (1)

How a preacher or priest in Christianity can ever go to Islam?

How could a preacher have turned his back on the perfect plan of salvation of Jesus Christ on the cross for you sins and converted to Islam?

The American X-preacher Yusuf Estes says:

Many people ask me how a preacher or priest in Christianity can ever go to Islam, especially considering all the negative things that we hear about Islam and Muslims everyday. Some people are simply curious, while others take a profound exception to my “conversion” to Islam. Some have asked how I could have turned my back on Jesus, or if I truly understood the Holy Ghost and some even questioned whether or not I considered myself as “born again” or had ever really been saved at all. These are good questions to which I will offer answers to at the end of this writing. I would like to thank everyone for their interest and offer my humble story, God Willing.

One very nice Christian gentleman asked me in email why and how I left Christianity for Islam. This is more or less a copy of the letter I sent to him.

Introduction

My name is Yusuf Estes now, but in years past my friends used to call me Skip. I have preached Christianity and worked in the entertainment and music industry since I was a boy in the 1950’s. My father and I have established music stores, TV and radio programs and outdoor entertainment for fun (and profit). I was a music minister and even used a pony ride and entertained the children as “Skippy the Clown.”

Once, I have served as Delegate to the United Nations Peace Conference for Religious Leaders. Now I am a retired former Muslim Chaplain for United States Bureau of Prisons, Washington, DC. and I join alongside many American Muslims, working with Muslim student and youth organizations as well as schools for Muslim children. As such, I travel around the entire world lecturing and sharing the message of the Christ of the Quran in Islam. We hold dialogs and discussion groups with all faiths and enjoy the opportunity to work alongside rabbis, ministers, preachers and priests everywhere. Some of our work is in the institutional area, military, universities and prisons. Primarily our goal is to educate and communicate the correct message of Islam and who the Muslims really are. Although Islam has grown now to nearly tie Christianity as the largest of religions on earth, we see many of those who claim Islam as Muslims, that do not correctly understand nor properly represent the message of “Peace, Surrender and Obedience to God” [Arabic = ‘Islam’]

Dear me, I am afraid that I got a bit ahead of myself. I was trying to give a bit of background of our work perhaps to see if it would in anyway benefit those who may being going through what I experienced while trying to resolve some of the issues of Christianity.

How It Happened

This may seem quite strange, while we perhaps may share a few different perspectives and concepts of God, Jesus, prophethood, sin and salvation. But you see, at one time I was in the same boat as many folks are today. Really, I was. Let me explain.

Born A Strong Christian

I was born into a very strong Christian family in the Midwest. Our family and their ancestors not only built the churches and schools across this land, but actually were the same ones who came here in the first place. While I was still in elementary we relocated in Houston, Texas in 1949 (I’m old). We attended church regularly and I was baptized at the age of 12 in Pasadena, Texas. As a teenager, I wanted to visit other churches to learn more of their teachings and beliefs. The Baptists, Methodists, Episcopalians, Charismatic movements, Nazarene, Church of Christ, Church of God, Church of God in Christ, Full Gospel, Agape, Catholic, Presbyterian and many more. I developed quite a thirst for the “Gospel” or as we say; “Good News.” My research into religion did not stop with Christianity. Not at all. Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Metaphysics, native American beliefs were all a part of my studies. Just about the only one that I did not look into seriously was “Islam”. Why? Good question.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (63) the Angels at the moment of their Death

If you could see when the evildoers are in the agonies of death and the Angels extend their hands, against them saying to them: ‘Give up your souls; today you shall be requited with the chastisement of humiliation because you used to say about Allah other than the truth. Now, ‘you would be seeing a terrifying things’.

——————————————-

In the previous article, Ayah 6:93 says:

1) None does greater evil than he who invents falsehoods against Allah by changing his words by either deleting or adding words

2) None does greater evil than he who invents lies by claiming prophethood when he has not been called to it,

3) None does greater evil than he who says, ‘It is revealed to me’, when nothing has been revealed to him; this was revealed regarding the false prophet. Herein Ayah 6:93 may refer to an Arabic man called Musaylama al-Kadhdhāb [al-Kadhdhāb means the liar] this man was a soothsayer who composed rhymed speech and claimed prophethood. He claimed that he was inspired by Allah. Then, he fought the believers and was killed. His recorded claimed revelations are but pieces of funny ignorant words that have been rejected by the Arabs. It is interesting that the true Torah teachs that any false prophet’s fate is to be killed.

Ayah 6:93 continues saying:

None does greater evil than he who says, ‘I will reveal the like of what Allah has revealed.

This may refer to those who were the mockers; they said: If we wish we can speak the like of this Quran. (See the verse 8:31).

Then, Ayah 6:93 discloses what will happen to all of those liars; it says:

If you could see, O Muhammad, when the, mentioned, evildoers are in the agonies of death and the angels extend their hands, against them, beating and torturing them, saying to them in stern censure:

‘Give up your souls to us that we may seize them. Today you shall be requited with the chastisement of humiliation because you used to say about Allah other than the truth, of claiming prophethood and inspiration falsely, and now, ‘you would be seeing a terrifying thing’.

—————————————————

The verse 6:93 in another two translations

QARIB:

Who is more harmful than he who invents a lie about Allah, or says: “it has been revealed to me,” when nothing has been revealed to him? or he who says: ‘i will send down the like of what Allah has sent down! ‘would that you could see the harmdoers when death overwhelms them! with hands outstretched, the angels (will say): ‘yield up your souls. you shall be recompensed with a humiliating punishment this day, for you have said of Allah what is untrue and you grew proud against his verses.

SHAKIR:

And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah, or says: it has been revealed to me; while nothing has been revealed to him, and he who says: i can reveal the like of what Allah has revealed? and if you had seen when the unjust shall be in the agonies of death and the angels shall spread forth their hands: give up your souls; today shall you be recompensed with an ignominious chastisement because you spoke against Allah other than the truth and (because) you showed pride against his communications

Chapter 6 of the Quran (59) the Obese Rabbi

It is well known that the last Prophet Muhammad is mentioned in full details in the Torah; that is why many Jewish rabbis like Abdullah ben Salam embraced Islam. It is also narrated that an obese rabbi went to argue with the Prophet about his prophethood; he said…

——————————————-

It is well known that the last Prophet Muhammad is mentioned in full details in the Torah; that is why many Jewish rabbis like Abdullah ben Salam embraced Islam.

Allah commanded His Prophet Muhammad, to ask the Jews about his matter and how he is mentioned in their Scriptures. Muhammad did that many times.

However, their resentful envy toward Muhammad drove them to disbelieve in Allah and His Messenger.

The Jews said ‘Allah has never sent down any Scripture from heaven.’

Allah revealed: Say unto the Jews who speak thus: Who revealed the Book which Moses brought, a light and guidance for mankind?

It is also narrated that an obese rabbi (Malik ibn al-Sayf) went to argue with the Prophet about his prophethood.

Muhammad said to him: ‘I plead with you by Him who has revealed the Torah to Moses, do you not find in the Torah that Allah loathes the obese rabbi?’

[In the genuine Torah that was revealed unto the Prophet Moses, an obese rabbi is a symbol indicates that such rabbi eats much and gives the needy a little]

Hearing that, the obese rabbi was horrified and he has got angry then he said: ‘O Muhammad has Allah revealed a Scripture to you?

The Prophet answered: ‘Yes, He did!’

The obese rabbi said: ‘By Allah, Allah has never sent down any Scripture from heaven. Allah has never sent anything to any human being’

The obese rabbi was shocked, when Muhammad’s companions exclaimed: ‘Woe unto you, not even to Moses!’

And so Allah, revealed Ayah 6:91; it says:

They do not estimate Allah its true estimation when they say: Allah has naught revealed unto a human being.

See the interpretation of the verse 6:91 in the next article.

Also, the interested reader may find a lot of articles about ‘Muhammad in the Bible” and the story of Jewish rabbis, Abdullah ben Salam who embraced Islam

—————————————————

The verses 6:91 in two translations

QARIB:

They have not valued Allah with his true value, when they said ‘Allah has never sent down anything to a mortal. ‘Say: ‘who, then sent down the book which Moses brought, a light and guidance for people? You put it on to parchments, revealing them and hiding much, you have now been taught what neither you nor your fathers knew before! ‘Say: ‘Allah. ‘Then leave them, playing in their plunging.

SHAKIR:

And they do not assign to Allah the attributes due to him when they say: Allah has not revealed anything to a mortal. Say: who revealed the book which musa brought, a light and guidance to men, which you make into scattered writings which you show while you conceal much? and you were taught what you did not know, (neither) you nor your fathers. Say: Allah then leave them sporting in their vain discourses

Chapter 6 of the Quran (58) Abraham’s Descendants – D

Allah honored Abraham’s Descendants saying: “Those prophets whom Allah has told you about (Abraham’s Descendants) are they, whom Allah has guided to the noblest character traits, so follow their guidance. Also, follow their way of affirming Allah’s Oneness and of exercising patience.”

——————————————-

In the previous articles, they threatened Abraham that their gods will hurt him amd make him infertile. But, Allah made Abraham the father of the prophets.

Abraham is the father of Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Elisha, Jonah, Zachariah, John, Jesus and Muhammad.

Allah bestowed upon Abraham’s Descendants prophethood and surrender to Him; all of them were the top righteous among mankind and they all submit to Allah.

Allah chose Abraham’s Descendants and guided them unto the straight path and made them firm on His path.

In Ayah 6:89, Allah Honored Abraham’s Descendants saying:

They are the ones to whom Allah gave the Scripture (which the Angel Gabriel brought down from heaven), prophethood, judgement, wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

So if the unbelievers of Mecca disbelieve therein in their way and religion, then verily Allah shall entrust it to a people who do not disbelieve in it and Allah shall give them success to follow the way and religion of the prophets, the Abraham’s Descendants.

This prophecy exactly fulfilled when the people of Madina embrace Islam and helped the Prophet Muhammad very much to spread Islam.

Again, in Ayah 6:90, Allah Well-regarded Abraham’s Descendants saying:

Those prophets whom Allah has told you about are they whom Allah has guided to the most noble of character traits, so follow their guidance. Also, follow their way of affirming Allah’s Oneness and of exercising patience.

And for the unbelievers of Mecca, Say, to them:

I do not ask of you, to give me, any wage for Islam, and remember that the Qurān is only a reminder, an admonition, to all the worlds, of mankind and jinn.

—————————————————

The verses 6:89-90 in different translations

QARIB:

89) Those, we have given them the book, judgment, and prophethood. if these disbelieve it, we have entrusted it to others who do not disbelieve in it.

90) Those were whom Allah guided. follow then their guidance and say: ‘i do not ask you a wage for it. Surely, it is a reminder to the worlds. ‘

SHAKIR:

89) These are they to whom we gave the book and the wisdom and the prophecy; therefore if these disbelieve in it we have already entrusted with it a people who are not disbelievers in it

90) These are they whom Allah guided, therefore follow their guidance. say: i do not ask you for any reward for it; it is nothing but a reminder to the nations

PICKTHAL:

89) Those are they unto whom we gave the scripture and command and prophethood. but if these disbelieve therein, then indeed we shall entrust it to a people who will not be disbelievers therein.

90) Those are they whom Allah guideth, so follow their guidance. say (o muhammad, unto mankind): i ask of you no fee for it. Lo! It is naught but a reminder to (his) creatures.

YUSUFALI:

89) These were the men to whom we gave the book, and authority, and prophethood: if these (their descendants) reject them, behold! we shall entrust their charge to a new people who reject them not.

 90) Those were the (prophets) who received Allah’s guidance: copy the guidance they received; say: “no reward for this do i ask of you: this is no less than a message for the nations.”

Chapter 6 of the Quran (57) Abraham’s Descendants – C

Undoubtedly, the prophets never ever did that.  But, it is a threatening to those who are proud of being among Abraham’s Descendants when they associated anyone or anything with Allah to worship. Allah’s message to them is: your works in the life of this world will be fruitless on the Day of Judgment and you will dwell in the Eternal Hell.

——————————————-

In the previous articles, Abraham’s people, the idolators and the astrologers, threatened him that their gods would harm him with many malicious things like diseases, poverty, infertility etc.

It is well-known that, Abraham was infertile up to the age of eighty years.

Was that because those false gods had really harmed him so that he will never ever have a son? No, this was one of Allah’s trials to test Abraham faith and patience.

In respect to Abraham’s Descendants, Allah bestowed upon them prophethood and surrender to Him; all of them were the top righteous among mankind and they all submit to Allah

Allah chose this great prophethood chain of Abraham’s Descendants and guided them unto the straight path and made them firm on His path.

Allah bestowed upon Abraham prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Ishmael prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Isaac prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Jacob prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Joseph prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Job prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Moses prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Aaron prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon David prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Solomon prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Elias prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Elisha prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Jonah prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Zachariah prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon John prophethood and surrender to Him

Allah bestowed upon Jesus prophethood and surrender to Him

That, religion to which all the prophets were guided, is Allah’s guidance wherewith He guides whom He will of His servants.

On the other hand, what if the above prophets set up for worship aught beside Allah or had these prophets associated anyone or anything with Allah to worship, in this case all that they did of works would have been fruitless on the Day of Judgment.

This is hypothetically speaking for the prophets because they never ever did that; but it is a threatening to those who are proud of being among Abraham’s Descendants when they associated anyone or anything with Allah to worship. Allah’s message to them is: your works in the life of this world will be fruitless on the Day of Judgment and you will dwell in the Eternal Hell.

—————————————————

The verse 6:88 in different translations

QARIB:

Such is the guidance of Allah by it he guides whom he will of his worshipers. Had they associated (others with him), their labors would have indeed been annulled.

SHAKIR:

This is Allah’s guidance, he guides thereby whom he pleases of his servants; and if they had set up others (with him), certainly what they did would have become ineffectual for them

PICKTHAL:

Such is the guidance of Allah wherewith he guideth whom he will of his bondmen. but if they had set up (for worship) aught beside him, (all) that they did would have been vain.

YUSUFALI:

This is the guidance of Allah: he giveth that guidance to whom he pleaseth, of his worshippers. if they were to join other gods with him, all that they did would be vain for them.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (56) Abraham’s Descendants – B

Abraham’s Descendants are Ishmael, the firstborn son of Abraham, Elisha, Elias, Jonah, and Zachariah (and his son John) and Jesus. Allah preferred all of them above the people of their own time through prophethood.

——————————————-

In the previous articles, Abraham’s people, the idolators and the astrologers, threatened him that their gods would severely harm him with many malicious things like diseases, poverty, infertility etc.

As a matter of fact, Abraham was infertile up to his age of eighty years.

Was that because those false gods had really harmed him so that he will never ever have a son?

They threatened Abraham that their gods will hurt him and make him infertile.

But, Abraham’s God, Allah, made Abraham the father of the prophets.

Noah and Abraham are the key fathers in the genealogy of any prophet

Ayah 6:85 says:

And Zachariah (and his son John), Jesus and Elias (the paternal nephew of Aaron, Moses’ brother); all of them were of the righteous

Allah guided all of them by bestowing upon them prophethood and and surrender to Allah; and all of them were of the seed of Abraham and they were messengers.

Ayah 6:85 says:

Also mention as Noah and Abraham’s Descendants Ishmael, the firstborn son of Abraham, Elisha Jonah and Lot.

Allah preferred all of them above the people of their own time, both believers and unbelievers, through prophethood.

Ayah 6:85 says:

With some of their forefathers (Adam, Seth, Enoch, Noah, Hud, and Salih): Allah guided all of them by bestowing prophethood and Islam upon them; and also of their offspring and their brethren i.e. the offspring of Jacob and the brothers of Joseph.

Allah chose them and guided them unto the straight path and made them firm on His path.

—————————————————

The verses 6:85-87 in different translations

QARIB:

85) And (prophets) Zachariah, John, Jesus and Elias, each was of the righteous,

86) And Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah and Lot. Each we preferred above the worlds,

87) As we did their fathers, their descendants, and their brothers. we chose them and guided them to a straight path.

SHAKIR:

85) And zakariya and yahya and isa and ilyas; every one was of the good;

86) And Ismail and Al-yasha and Yunus and Lut; and every one we made to excel (in) the worlds:

87) And from among their fathers and their descendants and their brethren, and we chose them and guided them into the right way

PICKTHAL:

85) And zachariah and john and jesus and elias. each one (of them) was of the righteous.

86) And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot each one (of them) did we prefer above (our) creatures,

87) With some of their forefathers and their offspring and their brethren; and we chose them and guided them unto a straight path.

YUSUFALI:

85) And zakariya and john, and Jesus and elias: all in the ranks of the righteous:

86) And isma’il and Elisha, and Jonas, and Lot: and to all we gave favour above the nations:

87) (To them) and to their fathers, and progeny and brethren: we chose them, and we guided them to a straight way.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (55) Abraham’s Descendants – A

Allah guided Abraham to the straight path. Allah honoured Abraham by bestowing upon him and his Descendants prophethood and surrender to Allah. The idolators and astrologers.threatened Abraham that their gods will hurt him amd make him infertile. But, Abraham’s God, Allah, made him the father of the prophets.

—————————————————

In In the previous articles, Allah bestowed upon the wisdom and the knowledge. Allah guided him and showed to him the straight path to worship Him.

Allah invited Abraham to a miraculous trip in the space to show him that the stars, the sun, the planets and the moon are but creatures.

Abraham perfectly used his wisdom and knowledge to debate his people.

As you knew, Abraham’s people were idolators and astrologers.

The idolators used to worship many idols made of stones.

The astrologers were planets’ worshippers, moon’s worshippers and/or sun and stars’ worshippers.

Abraham’s father was among the idolators.

Abraham’s duty was to peacefully convince all those wrong worshippers that they are wrong.

Abraham told his father and the indlators that worshipping idols is but unreasonable because idols are not by any means our supreme Creator.

In addition, Abraham desired to show up his astrologers’ people that they are wrong in their belief.

Abraham gave them three indirect lessons to show them that they have mistaken believe in in the supreme Creator who has created the Sun, Moon, Stars, and Planets etc.

The first Abraham’s indirect teaching was to the group of his astrologers’ people who were planets’ worshippers and used to worship Venus.

The second Abraham’s indirect teaching was to the group of his astrologers’ people who were the moon’s worshippers.

The third Abraham’s indirect teaching was to the group of his astrologers’ people who were the Sun’s worshippers.

Abraham’s people, the idolators and the astrologers threatened him that their gods would severely harm him with many malicious things like diseases, poverty, infertility etc.

As a matter of fact, Abraham was infertile up to his age of eighty years.

Was that because those false gods had really harmed him so that he will never ever have a son?

The answer is found in Ayah 6:84; Allah says:

We guided Abraham to the straight path, the same as We have guided Noah before Abraham

We bestowed upon Abraham; Isaac and, his son, Jacob

We guided Isaac and, his son, Jacob, to the straight path.

We honoured them by bestowing upon them prophethood and surrender to Allah

Abraham was the seed of Noah

And among Noah and Abraham’s Descendants were David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses and Aaron

We guided all of them by bestowing upon them prophethood and surrender to Allah.

All of them confess Allah’s divine Oneness; and this is how We requite the virtuous.

Moreover, their reward in the Afterlife will be great in the Eternal Paradise.

They threatened Abraham that their gods will hurt him amd make him infertile.

But, Abraham’s God, Allah, made Abraham the father of the prophets.

—————————————————

The verse 6:84 in different translations

QARIB:

We gave him isaac and jacob and guided both; and we guided noah before them, among his descendants were david and solomon, job, joseph, Moses and Aaron as such, we recompense the gooddoers,

SHAKIR:

And we gave to him ishaq and yaqoub; each did we guide, and nuh did we guide before, and of his descendants, dawood and sulaiman and ayub and yusuf and Haroun; and thus do we reward those who do good (to others)

PICKTHAL:

And we bestowed upon him Isaac and jacob; each of them we guided; and noah did we guide aforetime; and of his seed (we guided) david and solomon and job and joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do we reward the good.

YUSUFALI:

We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) guided: and before him, we guided noah, and among his progeny, david, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus do we reward those who do good:

Chapter 6 of the Quran (20) They Do Not Belie but Deny

It is well known that Muhammad lived for 40 years before his prophethood among the people of Mecca who know him very well. They all used to respect him very much and they used to call him the truthful, the honest. The Idolators of Mecca do not belied him but they denied the Quran!

————————————————————————————-

The Historical background of Ayah 6:31 says:

It is well known that Muhammad lived for 40 years before his prophethood among the people of Mecca who know him, his family and his tribe very well. They all used to respect him very much and they used to call him the truthful, the honest, the sincerely faithful; He never ever lied.

The characters of the events happened before revealation of the verse:

1) Abu “Jahl” ibn Hisham, “Abu” means the father of and “Jahl” means ignorance. Abu Jahl was one of the famous enemies of the Prophet Muhammad. He was one of the leaders of the idolators of Mecca.

2) al-Harith ibn Amir; he was one of the chief idolators of Mecca.

What Abu Jahl said about Muhammad?

A man said to Abu Jahl: O ibn Hisham. tell me about Muhammad, for there is one here with us who wants to hear what you say: is he truthful or a liar?’

Abu Jahl said: ‘By Allah, Muhammad is truthful. Muhammad has never lied. But if his family take the office of keepers of the banner, giving water to the pilgrims, gatekeeper of the House (Kaabah), the Nadwah ( like the senate nowadays) and prophethood, what else remains for the rest of our tribe?’

One day, the Prophet Muhammad passed by Abu Jahl and his companions, and they asked him: ‘O Muhammad, by Allah, we do not give you the lie, for we consider you truthful. What we deny is that which you have brought’.

What al-Harith ibn Amir said about Muhammad?

al-Harith used to give the lie openly to the Prophet, but when he retired to his family, he would say:

‘Muhammad is not of those who lie, and I think he is truthful’.

And so Allah, exalted is He, revealed the verse 6:33.

Allah knows indeed that it grieves you O Muhammad that, matter, which they say, to you, in denial.

Allah knows well how their talk, their sland er, denial and demand for proofs grieve you O Muhammad.

However, they know that you were truthful and honest.

Truth wise, they do not refute you but the evil-doers flout, scorn, and defy the revelations of Allah; that is the Quran.

—————————————————

The verse 6:33 in different translations

QARIB:

33) we know what they say saddens you. it is not you that they belie; but the harmdoers deny the verses of Allah.

SHAKIR:

33) we know indeed that what they say certainly grieves you, but surely they do not call you a liar; but the unjust deny the communications of Allah

PICKTHAL:

33) we know well how their talk grieveth thee, though in truth they deny not thee (muhammad) but evil-doers flout the revelations of Allah.

YUSUFALI:

33) we know indeed the grief which their words do cause thee: it is not thee they reject: it is the signs of Allah, which the wicked contemn.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (11) Shameful vs.Greatest Testimony

What a difference between the two testimonies, the Shameful Testimony of the Jews and the Greatest Testimony of Allah.  Is worshipping the idols better than worshipping the one true God? What a Disgraceful Testimony!

————————————————————————————-

Ayah 6:19

The historical background

The Shameful Testimony of the Jews and Christians

The chiefs of Mecca said: ‘O Muhammad, we see that no one believes in what you say concerning the matter of messengership. We have asked the Jews and Christians about you and they claim that there is no description or mention of you in their Scriptures; we asked them about which religion is better yours or ours? They said that our religion is better.

What a Shameful Testimony. Is worshipping the idols better than worshipping the one true God?

The chiefs of Mecca continued: So show us someone who will testify that you were a messenger, as you claim’

Bring us someone to testify to the truth of your prophethood, for the People of the Scripture have denied you and your religion!

.

As a response, Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse”.

Say, to them: ‘What thing is greatest in testimony? that is, fairer and most pleasing in testimony.

Say: Allah, even if they do not say this, there is no other response.

In other word, If they answer, fine, if not Say:

Allah is witness between you and me that I am His Messenger and this Quran is His speech.

And this Quran has been inspired in me and that Gabriel has brought down this Quran to me that I may warn therewith you with the Quran and whomsoever it may reach I am a warner to him.

Allah is Witness between me and you, to my truthfulness; and this Quran has been revealed to me that I may warn you, that I may make you fear, O people of Mecca, thereby, and whomever it may reach , that is to say, whomever among men and jinn the Quran may reach.

Do you indeed bear witness that there were other gods with Allah? (this interrogative is meant as a disavowal).

Say, to them: ‘I do not bear witness’, to this.

Say: ‘He is only One God, and I am innocent of what you associate’, with Him of idols.

In other words, say: Do you O people of Mecca bear witness that there were gods beside Allah i.e. idols: you say that they were Allah’s daughters?

And if they bear witness, Say: I bear no such witness with you.

Say O Muhammad: He is only One God, the only true God Verily! I am innocent of that which you associate with Him of idols in worship.

SHAKIR:

Say: what thing is the weightiest in testimony? say: Allah is witness between you and me; and this quran has been revealed to me that with it i may warn you and whomsoever it reaches. do you really bear witness that there were other gods with Allah? say: i do not bear witness. say: he is only one Allah, and surely i am clear of that which you set up (with him)

PICKTHAL:

Say (O Muhammad): what thing is of most weight in testimony? say: Allah is witness between me and you. and this qur’an hath been inspired in me, that i may warn therewith you and whomsoever it may reach. do ye in sooth bear witness that there were gods beside Allah? say: i bear no such witness. say: he is only one Allah. lo! i am innocent of that which ye associate (with him).

YUSUFALI:

Say: “what thing is most weighty in evidence?” say: “Allah is witness between me and you; this qur’an hath been revealed to me by inspiration, that i may warn you and all whom it reaches. can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another Allah?” say: “nay! i cannot bear witness!” say: “but in truth he is the one Allah, and i truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with him.”
