Background of the verses 8:50-51

Date: more than 1400 years ago

Place: nearby Al-Madinah in the Arabia

Event: the first battle between the Atheists among the Arabs and the believers

The name of the battle: the Day of “Badr”

Situation: The Atheists were about 1000 well-armed men

                The believers were 300 weakly armed men

Media: the Atheists announced that they came from Makkah to Al-Madinah to kill the Prophet Muhammad and eradicate Islam and Muslims from the face of the Earth

Result: Muslims won and the Atheists severely lost the battle. About 100 Atheists killed, another 100 captivated and the rest flee from the shock of such result.

Was this the only fate of the Atheists?

No

The meanings of the verses 8:50-51

If you could see O Muhammad and believers how the angels, on the Day of Badr, take away the Atheists’ souls, smiting their faces and their backs and saying unto them:

Taste the severe punishment of burning.

This chastisement is for what your hands have done while you were unbelieving know that Allah is just to His servants, such that he would not punish them for no sin.

Know that Allah is not a tyrant to His servants such that He would take them to task without them having committed a crime.

Allah’s Justice is for all

We see the angels acting on Allah’s instructions and by His permission, reproaching the unbelievers and meting out punishment to them. They gather their souls in a very harsh manner and dole out to them the sort of treatment that befits their arrogance and conceit. Even in the most difficult of times, they remind them of their evil deeds and tell them of their inevitable destiny. There is no injustice in what they are about to suffer. It is only what they deserve.

The verse makes it clear that punishing the unbelievers for their misdeeds is a constant law that Allah has set into operation:

The two verses, however, may also be taken as a reference to a continuing situation that applies whenever the angels gather the souls of unbelievers.

In this case the opening phrase, “if you could but see”, may be understood as an address to anyone with eyes to see. This type of address is used frequently to direct attention to certain matters that need to be contemplated.

The verses portray a fearful picture of the unbelievers as the angels gather their souls, adding humiliation to their misery and combining physical suffering with death:

“If you could but see how the angels gather up the souls of the unbelievers. They strike them on their faces and their backs.”

The mode of expression then changes from that of reporting to an address:

“Taste the punishment of burning.”

This serves to bring the sight blooming as though it is happening now in front of our eyes. We almost see the fire of hell and how it burns them fiercely.

The unbelievers are severely reproached as they are pushed into it:

“[this is] in return for what your own hands have committed.”

It is all a fitting recompense. You deserve it all on account of what you have done:

“Never does Allah do any injustice to His servants.”

The infliction of suffering and humiliation on the unbelievers is a permanent law that does not change.

The verses 8:50-51 in different translations:

QARIB:

50-If you could see the angels when they carry off the souls of the unbelievers, beating their faces and their backs, saying: ‘taste the punishment of burning!

51-That is for what your hands have forwarded, Allah is not unjust to his worshipers. ‘

SHAKIR:

50-And had you seen when the angels will cause to die those who disbelieve, smiting their faces and their backs, and (saying): taste the punishment of burning

51-This is for what your own hands have sent on before, and because Allah is not in the least unjust to the servants;

PICKTHAL:

50-If thou couldst see how the angels receive those who disbelieve, smiting faces and their backs and (saying): taste the punishment of burning!

51-This is for that which your own hands have sent before (to the judgment), and (know) that Allah is not a tyrant to his slaves.

YUSUFALI:

50-If thou couldst see, when the angels take the souls of the unbelievers (at death), (how) they smite their faces and their backs, (saying): “taste the penalty of the blazing fire-

51-“Because of (the deeds) which your (own) hands sent forth; for Allah is never unjust to his servants:

Atheists in Quran (43) when their Doubt Leads to Hell

In Surah 2, there is no doubt the Quran that it is Allah’s Book.

However, the Atheists and unbelievers are in doubt about it.

Well, if they are in doubt about the Quran, then produce only one Surah like it. If they do not do it, otherwise, this doubt will leads to the Eternal Hell in the Afterlife!

In the previous articles,

  1. Allah challenges the entire Humankind to produce a Quran like the one revealed and when they have failed,
  2. Allah challenged them to produce ten Surah similar to the Quran.  When the entire Humankind have failed,
  3. Allah challenges the entire Humankind to produce only ONE Surah similar to the Quran.

In this article, Surah 2 (chapter 2) of the Noble Quran puts the end of this unique linguistic Challenge

Surah 2 begins with Allah’s affirmation that the Quran is His book without any doubt; in it, there is guidance unto those who ward off Hell. (Verse 2:2)

The Creator, Exalted be He, knows that some of his arrogant creature have doubt about the Quran.

Allah knows that the Atheists and unbelievers claim that Muhammad forged the Quran and they are in doubt about the Quran.

In the verses 2:23-24 we have this strict clear-cut plan that is followed by severe warning

1)    If you are in doubt about the Quran, then produce only one Surah like it

2)    Seek the help of the entire humankind to help you in your work

3)    If you do not do it, and in fact you WILL NEVER Ever DO IT, then guard yourselves against the Hell whose fuel is people and stones, prepared for the Atheists and unbelievers.

Hence, the verse 2:23 put the end of the unique linguistic Challenge by stating that the Atheists + the unbelievers + humankind will never ever Challenge the Quran and they are unable to cope with the challenge and emulate even one Surah like it

The Atheists + the unbelievers + humankind cannot produce 15 Arabic words and produce a Surah like that present in the Quran!

This is the summary of the plan that is followed by severe warning

Now, let us discuss this risky issue calmly

 “This is the Book; there is no doubt about it a guidance unto those who ward off Hell.” (Verse 2)

The key words in this statement are:

  • Doubt
  • Guidance
  • Hell

Guidance expresses the essence and the nature of the Quran.

But guidance for whom? Who are the people who will find that this Book provides them with light, direction and true counsel?

They are the Allah-fearing.

They fear Allah, submit, obey and Ward off Hell

Once a man’s heart is filled with the fear of Allah, he will benefit by the Quran. Fear and consciousness of Allah is the quality that opens one’s mind to the true guidance contained in the Quran and allows it to have its proper effect on one’s life.

Fear of Allah is the factor that causes one’s heart and mind to become sensitive and receptive to Allah’s guidance and enables one to respond to His call and His instruction.

Anyone seeking the benefit and Allahly wisdom of the Quran must approach it with an open mind and a pure heart. One must also approach it with perception and sensitivity, and with a determination not to fall by the wayside or be tempted away from Allah.

Then, and only then, will the marvels and treasures of the Quran be opened and revealed, and their light and wisdom will pour into this apprehensive, alert and welcoming heart.

Fear of Allah, then, is to have a sensitive conscience, clear feelings, a continuous concern, vigilance and alacrity, and a yearning for the correct path in life. It is a feeling that is ever alive, a feeling of being aware of life’s temptations and pitfalls; and the ambitions and hopes, and the worries and fears that come with it. It is a feeling of being able to discern false hopes and unwarranted fears that one associates with individuals or powers that could neither bring benefit nor cause harm.

A Divine Challenge

Allah puts a scientific plan for the Atheists and unbelievers

The Quran is challenging them all, as indeed it challenges humankind in general, saying:

“If you are in doubt as to what We have revealed to Our servant, then produce one Surah comparable to it and call upon all your witnesses, other than Allah, if what you say is true.” (Verse 23)

The challenge begins with emphasizing an important fact by describing the Prophet Muhammad as Allah’s ‘servant’. This description is significant in a number of ways: it is,

First, an honor to the Prophet himself and an indication that to be a ‘servant’ of Allah is the highest honor a human being can attain.

Second, it affirms the essence of servitude to Allah in the universal human context, calling on all men to submit only to Allah and renounce all partners that may be associated with Him.

The Prophet Muhammad, who attained the highest position of honor as a recipient of Allah’s Revelations, is also honored by being described as a servant of Allah.

The challenge = If they were in any doubt, they were free to produce anything, even one Surah, comparable to it, and they could seek the help of the entire humankind.

This challenge remained open throughout the Prophet’s life, and has done so ever since. The Quranic argument stands just as firmly today as it has through the centuries.

Thus, Allah’s words, and His warning, remain true:

“But if you fail, as you will certainly do, then guard yourselves against the fire, fuelled by men and stones, prepared for the unbelievers.” (Verse 24)

It is a remarkable challenge indeed, but what is even more remarkable is the absolute certainty with which it is made. Were any of the unbelieving Arabs able to take up the challenge, they would not have hesitated for a moment. The Quranic assertion of the futility of their task, and the endurance of that assertion, are in themselves manifest and irrefutable proof of its superior nature.

The opportunity remains wide open for anyone or any group to pick up the gauntlet and try their best to match the Quran and refute its claims of divinity and superiority.

However, this has not happened and, as the Quran clearly states, will never happen. That is the Quran’s final word for posterity.

Anyone with any real knowledge or appreciation of literary styles, or expertise in philosophy, psychology, social science, or any other science at all, will not fail to recognize that whatever the Quran has to say in any field of knowledge is something unique, unlike anything human beings would say. Argument over this fact can only arise from blind ignorance or sheer prejudice.

The stern warning to “guard yourselves against the fire, fuelled by men and stones” comes as no surprise to those who may fail in their challenge to Allah but persist, nevertheless, with their rejection of the truth.

The use of the word ‘stones’ here is fascinating.

This fire is prepared for the Atheists and unbelievers.

They are the ones who have failed to take up Allah’s challenge, and persisted, nevertheless, in their rejection of His message.

They are stone like, although they have a human form. Hence the connection between humans and stones in this verse. The expression amply conveys the horror of the awesome scene in which people and stones are both:

  • The fuel of the Fire
  • Consumed by Fire

Miserably, this is the doubt that leads to the Eternal Hell in the Afterlife!

That is the (holy) book, where there is no doubt. it is a guidance for the cautious (of evil and hell).

SHAKIR:

This book, there is no doubt in it, is a guide to those who guard (against evil)

PICKTHAL:

This is the scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil).

YUSUFALI:

This is the book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah;

23- And if you are in doubt as to that which we have revealed to our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses besides Allah if you are truthful

24- But if you do (it) not and never shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of which men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers

PICKTHAL:

23- And if ye are in doubt concerning that which we reveal unto our slave (Muhammad), then produce a surah of the like thereof, and call your witness beside Allah if ye are truthful.

24- And if ye do it not – and ye can never do it – then guard yourselves against the fire prepared for disbelievers, whose fuel is of men and stones.

YUSUFALI:

23- And if ye are in doubt as to what we have revealed from time to time to our servant, then produce a sura like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (if there are any) besides Allah, if your (doubts) are true.

24- But if ye cannot- and of a surety ye cannot- then fear the fire whose fuel is men and stones,- which is prepared for those who reject faith.

Atheists in Quran (39) a Linguistic Challenge for them

The Quran is one of Allah’s works that human beings cannot emulate.

In this article, Allah challenges the entire Humankind to produce the like of the Quran

Allah’s works are countless

Herein are few examples of Allah’s works

  • The Quran is one of Allah’s works.
  • The Universe is one of Allah’s works.
  • The stars-system is one of Allah’s works.
  • The Solar system is one of Allah’s works.
  • Human being is one of Allah’s works.
  • The Plants’ system is one of Allah’s works.
  • The Microbiological world is one of Allah’s works.
  • Etc.

No human beings can emulate Allah’s works.

Human beings cannot produce anything similar to Allah’s works, even if they were to muster all their powers in a single effort to achieve this task.

The Quran is one of Allah’s works that human beings cannot emulate.

In this article, Allah challenges the entire Humankind to produce the like of the Quran

This intellectual Linguistic challenge is unique.

This unique challenge is for not only the Atheists nor it is for Humankind only but it is for both Humankind and the entire world of Jinn.

Indeed, neither human beings nor jinn, representing the visible and invisible types of creation, can produce anything similar to the Quran, even if they were to muster all their powers in a single effort to achieve this mission.

The verse 17:8 says:

“Say (O Muhammad): ‘If all mankind and the jinn were to gather together for the purpose of producing the like of this Quran, they would not produce anything like it, even though they helped one another as best they could.’”

The meanings of the verse 17:8:

Verily, should humankind and jinn come together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed and assisted one another

Say O Muhammad to the Atheists:

Verily, though humankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Quran they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another.

The Quran is not mere words and expressions that humans and jinn can emulate.

Indeed the inability of all human beings and jinn to produce anything similar to it includes also their inability to produce any system that encompasses all the areas it tackles.

This illustrates the enormous differences between Allah’s Works and Man’s works.

It may be fruitful to ask this question:

What have the Orientalists done about this Linguistic challenge?

Many Western Countries sent many thousands of Orientalists to many of the Islamic countries to study the Quran and Islam

The Western Countries spent a lot of money for this mission.

Most of the Orientalists were priest’s especially catholic priests.

The Orientalists spoke and read Arabic Language very well even better than the native Arabic people; they published thousands of Arabic books that attack the Quran and Islam!

However, some of the Orientalists embraced Islam.

The questions now are:

  • What have they done with this Linguistic challenge?
  • Have they told you about this challenge?
  • Are they linguistically disabled?
  • Etc.

However, the Orientalists might have been disabled because the Quran is composed of 114 Surah (Chapter); however, what about ten Surah?

The verse 17:8 in different translations:

QARIB:

say: ‘if mankind and jinn combined together to produce the like of this Koran, they would never be able to produce one like it, not even if they were to help one another. ‘

SHAKIR:

Say: if men and jinn should combine together to bring the like of this Quran, they could not bring the like of it, though some of them were aiders of others

PICKTHAL:

Say: verily, though mankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another.

YUSUFALI:

Say: “if the whole of mankind and jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.

Atheists in Quran (27) Noah’s values vs. their values

Noah presents his message clearly, free of all falsehood. He makes a gentle and friendly description of the truth. In Noah’s presentation, there were no flattery, no attempt to win any favor with anyone at the expense of the message. The Atheists stiffened their attitude became determined not to accept any proof of Noah’s case; they said: Noah! You have argued with us, and argued to excess. Bring upon us that with which you have been threatening us, if you are a truthful man.

In the previous articles, the Atheists who were the council notables and the respected elders of Noah’s people claim that Noah is just looking for wealth and they said:

  • We will never ever sit with Noah and listen to him unless he drives away those who are the most abject, lowly, and weak and the riffraff among us.
  • Why have such lowly men followed Noah before us?

This was a part of their rotten arguments

They said such nasty statements to testify their unbelieving thoughts

The Atheists’ pride and arrogance are limitless.

In this article, the Atheists continue their stubborn arguments with Noah.

The meanings of the verses 11:31-33

The Atheists demanded that they would never believe Noah unless:

  • Noah tells them that he possess the treasure houses of Allah
  • Noah tells them that he has the keys to Allah’s stores of provision
  • Noah tells them that he has knowledge of the Unseen
  • Noah tells the lowly men who followed him that Allah will not give them any good

However, you know what Noah (they said), we cannot believe in human being, tell your Lord to send us an Angel or to convert you to an Angel

Noah remains unaffected by the false accusations, insolence and blind rejection with which his people have received his message.

He applies his own values and maintains his own standards. He does not make false claims or accusations as they have done. Nor does he try to give himself any false image or impart anything alien to his message.

However, Allah inspired Noah the answers for their rotten arguments.

Peacefully, Noah introduces himself and his message. His presentation is simple, devoid of any ornament and decoration, free of all false standards and values.

Noah reminds them of the true values, looking with contempt on all superficial ones. He renounces all superficiality and states his message as it is, pure and simple, with no false claims. He, who wants it, let him take it, as it is as pure as Allah made it.

Noah said:

I do not say to you that God’s treasures are with me.

I do not claim that I am rich or that I can make any of you rich. “Or that

I know what lies beyond the reach of human perception.

I do not make any claim of any super-human status or

I do not allege that my relationship with Allah exceeds the fact that I am a messenger conveying Allah’s message.

Nor do I say: I am an angel.

I do not claim to have a position, which you think to be higher than that of man, so that I may gain favor or high position from you.

I cannot say to those whom you scorn that Allah will never grant them any good, so that I satisfy your pride or accommodate your standards and values.

Allah knows best what is in their hearts (those whom you scorn).

I have to go by what I see.

To me, they appear deserving of honor and hope that Allah will grant them of His bounty.

If I made such false claims, saying to them that Allah will never grant them any good, I would be unjust

  • I would be unjust to the very truth I have come to convey.
  • I would also be unjust to myself, exposed to Allah’s wrath,
  • I would be unjust to other people to whom I gave a status other than that given them by Allah.

Thus, Noah presents his message clearly, free of all falsehood. He faces them with the clarity and strength of the truth. Meanwhile, he makes a gentle and friendly description of the truth so that they may look it in the face and decide upon their line of action.

In Noah’s presentation, there were no pretense, no flattery, no attempt to win any favor with anyone at the expense of the message and its simple nature.

In this, Noah sets an example for all advocates of the Allah’s message in all generations and provides them with a lesson in how to confront the people of authority with the truth, without any attempt to compromise, or flatter, but with the sort of friendliness, which is not associated with submission.

At this point, it was clear to the notables that they had no chance of winning the argument. They stiffened their attitude, became determined not to accept any proof of Noah’s case, logical and natural as it certainly was.

Then they finally rallied themselves in order to deliver a challenge to Noah. They said:

Noah! You have argued with us, and argued to excess. Bring upon us that with which you have been threatening us, if you are a man of truth.

This is nothing short of deceit, an attempt to cover up their weakness by putting on a display of strength. It is a challenge made in order to mask their dread of the truth’s strength.

Noah, however, remains unaffected by their outright rejection and challenge. He maintains the noble attitude befitting a great prophet. He continues to explain to them the truth and the facts, which they have ignored

He restates the fact that he is only a messenger whose task is to deliver a message. Their punishment is left to Allah who has absolute control over their destiny.

Allah alone decides, at His own discretion, whether it is appropriate to punish them here and now or to delay their punishment until a later date. Allah’s will must happen, as it is and Noah has no power over it.

As a messenger, he has to continue to explain the truth to his people until the last moment. Their rejection and challenge must not deter him from fulfilling his task.

Hence, he says to them:

Only Allah can bring it upon you, if He so wills. You cannot be immune. Nor will my counsel benefit you, much as I desire to give you good counsel, if it is Allah’s will to let you remain in error. He is your Lord and to Him you shall return.

If He will to punish you, none can by no means escape His chastisement.

The verses 11:31-33 in different translations:

QARIB:

31- I do not say to you that i possess the treasuries of Allah, and i do not know the unseen. I do not say I am an angel, nor do I say to those whom you despise, Allah will not give them any good. Allah knows best what is in their hearts. indeed, if this were so then I would be amongst the harmdoers. ‘

32- They said: ‘o Noah, you have disputed, and disputed too much, with us. bring (down) upon us that which you promised us, if what you say is true! ‘

33- He replied: ‘Allah will bring it (down) upon you if he will; you will never frustrate him.

SHAKIR:

31- And I do not say to you that i have the treasures of Allah and I do not know the unseen, nor do I say that i am an angel, nor do I say about those whom your eyes hold in mean estimation (that) Allah will never grant them (any) good– Allah knows best what is in their souls– for then most surely I should be of the unjust

32- They said: o nuh! indeed you have disputed with us and lengthened dispute with us, therefore bring to us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful ones

33- He said: Allah only will bring it to you if he please, and you will not escape:

PICKTHAL:

31- I say not unto you: “I have the treasures of Allah” nor “I have knowledge of the unseen,” nor say I: “lo! I am an angel!” nor say I unto those whom your eyes scorn that Allah will not give them good – Allah knoweth best what is in their hearts – lo! Then indeed, I should be of the wrong-doers.

32- They said: o Noah! thou hast disputed with us and multiplied disputation with us; now bring upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us, if thou art of the truthful.

33- He said: only Allah will bring it upon you if he will, and ye can by no means escape.

YUSUFALI:

31- “I tell you not that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor do I know what is hidden, nor claim I to be an angel. Nor yet do I say, of those whom your eyes do despise that Allah will not grant them (all) that is good: Allah knoweth best what is in their souls: I should, if I did, indeed be a wrong-doer.”

32- They said: “o Noah! thou hast disputed with us, and (much) hast thou prolonged the dispute with us: now bring upon us what thou threatenest us with, if thou speakest the truth!?”

33- He said: “truly, Allah will bring it on you if he wills,- and then, ye will not be able to frustrate it!

Atheists in Quran (23) Allah has no need of them

If you disbelieve, Allah has no need of you; however, be aware that the ultimate end of your journey is to Allah. There can be neither escape from Him nor refuge with anyone else. You can hide nothing from Him.

The verse 39:7 declares some basic but essential facts To Whom It May Concern

The verse talks about:

  • What if you disbelieve
  • What if you believe
  • Will you bear the sins of another one
  • What is your ultimate end?

What will happen if you disbelieve or if you believe?

If you disbelieve, Allah has no need of you; nor is He pleased with your disbelief

If you believe and give thanks, Allah is pleased with you.

If you disbelieve in Muhammad and in the Quran and you are thankless, Allah is Independent of you. Allah is not in need of your faith, though:

  • He is not pleased with thanklessness for His bondmen
  • He is not pleased with disbelief in Muhammad and in the Quran, because disbelief is not His religion

If you are ungrateful, indeed Allah is Independent of you, though He does not approve of ungratefulness for His servants

If you believe and give thanks, to Allah, He is pleased therewith for you He will approve such thankfulness, for you and accept it from you because that is His religion.

If you believe, you will not increase His kingdom in any way. If you disbelieve, this too will not affect His kingdom in any adverse way. He, however, does not like people to disbelieve.

By contrast, “lf you give thanks, He is pleased with you.” He will accept this from you and reward you generously for it.

Will you bear the sins of another one?

No burdened soul shall bear the burden of another soul, in other words, it will not bear the responsibility for it.

No laden soul will bear another’s load

No soul will bear the sins of another;

No soul will be taken to task for the sins of another soul, for each soul will be taken to task for its own sins;

Allah will not punish any soul for no crime.

Everyone is accountable for his or her own deeds, and none will be held responsible for another one, nor will he be allowed to take upon himself part of another’s burden

What is your ultimate end?

Then to your Lord will be your return, whereat He will inform you of what you used to do.

Unto Allah, your Lord is your return after death; then He will tell you on the Day of Judgment what you used to do and what you used to say in the life of this world.

Indeed, Allah is Knower of what is in the breasts of men of good and evil, Allah is Knower of what is in the hearts of men.

In conclusion, the ultimate end of your journey is to Allah. There can be neither escape from Him nor refuge with anyone else. You can hide nothing from Him

The verse 39:7 in different translations:

QARIB:

If you disbelieve, Allah is rich, independent of you. yet he does not approve of disbelief to his worshipers, but if you believe he will approve it in you. no laden soul shall bear another’s load. then, to Allah you shall return and he will tell to you what you have done. he knows the innermost of your chests.

SHAKIR:

If you are ungrateful, then surely Allah is self-sufficient above all need of you; and he does not like ungratefulness in his servants; and if you are grateful, he likes it in you; and no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another; then to your Lord is your return, then will he inform you of what you did; surely he is cognizant of what is in the breasts

PICKTHAL:

If ye are thankless, yet Allah is independent of you, though he is not pleased with thanklessness for his bondmen; and if ye are thankful he is pleased therewith for you. no laden soul will bear another’s load. then unto your Lord is your return; and he will tell you what ye used to do. lo! he knoweth what is in the breasts (of men).

YUSUFALI:

The ex- American preacher Yusuf Estes continues saying:

Now as I promised here are the answers to the questions many have asked me connected with my choice of Islam:

Question:

8. “Doesn’t it bother you to have left the way of peace, justice and love for a religion of hatred, violence and oppression toward women and others?”

Answer:

All the prophets, peace be upon them all, called the people to worship Almighty God as One God and One Lord. As such, those who did not want to submit to Almighty God would combat them and treat them with hostilities, even unto death, as Paul had done while still being a Pharisee. The prophets, peace be upon them all, did encourage their followers to live in peace and deal with people in justice and certainly love is the highest form of emotion a human can have for another human being.

Yet at the same time, believers have to defend themselves, their families and the religion itself, lest those who are not believers should remove belief from the very face of the earth. Islam, like Christianity preaches a message of peace and tolerance – to a point. But when this is no longer possible without totally compromising and loosing one’s way of life and belief system, then there is no alternative except to engage in open combat against those who are combating against the believers.

Jesus called upon his followers to sell their coats and buy swords. He explained that he did not come with peace, but rather a sword. He and his companions were engaged in mortal combat with their enemies, the Pharisees when one of the priests slaves had his ear cut by the sword. Jesus then told them to put down their swords. This is mentioned in the Bible.

The word “sword” appears over 200 times in the Bible – but even though the Arabic language has more than a dozen words for sword, there is not a single occurrence of any of these words anywhere in the Quran.

Combat is ordered in the Quran, only under very specific and limited conditions and it is nothing more than what we would today call “The War on Terrorism.” Fighting against all acts of organized aggression, oppression, persecution and terrorism is an obligation on all believers. But it certainly has limits and women, children, elderly and any innocents are not to killed or injured during such occasions. Treatment of prisoners is not to be humiliating or torture of any kind. Even the dead of the enemy are to be buried with dignity and respect.

Now since writing my story and publishing here on the internet many other websites have picked up this story and it had become a famous example of how “Priest and Preachers Are Coming to Islam.”

Chapter 6 of the Quran (118) Nobody Bears the Sin of Another

Shall I seek any other than Allah for a lord? He is the King of the kings and the LORD of the entire worlds.  No soul shall be taken to task for the sins of another soul; Then unto your Lord is your return after you die.

In the previous article, Submission to Allah was Abraham’s Religion and was the Religion Abraham’ descendants.

Allah commanded the last Prophet Muhammad to say unto mankind:

I am totally and absolutely submitted to Allah.

My worship, my prayers, my prostrations, my sacrifice, my devotions, are all for Allah,

My entire life, my entire activities, my entire deeds in this world is for for Allah,

He has no partner, no wife, no son, no daughter, and no equivalent. Nothing is equal or similar to Him. He is the Master of the Lords, the King of the kings, and the LORD of the entire worlds.  

Ayah 6:164 says, after all of that say O Muhammad:

Shall I seek any other than Allah for a God?

Shall I seek any other than Allah for a lord?

Shall I worship other than Allah?

Surely, I shall not seek any other than Him, when He is the Lord and the Possessor of all things.

O mankind, remember that:

Every man commintting a sin is earning his sin only against himself.

And no burdened, no sinful soul shall bear the burden or the sin of another man.

No soul shall be taken to task for the sins of another soul

No soul will be tormented for committing no sin

Then unto your Lord is your return after you die

He will inform you of that over which you differed and make your religion different.

And He will tell you that wherein in Religion you differed and you contravened

The verses 6:164 in different translations

QARIB:

Say: ‘should i seek a lord other than Allah, who is the lord of all things? Every soul earns only to its account no soul shall bear another’s burden. Then to your lord you shall be returned, and he will inform you about that in which you differed. ‘

SHAKIR:

Say: what! shall i seek a lord other than Allah? and he is the lord of all things; and no soul earns (evil) but against itself, and no bewerer of burden shall bear the burden of another; then to your lord is your return, so he will inform you of that in which you differed

PICKTHAL:

Say: shall i seek another than Allah for lord, when he is lord of all things? Each soul earneth only on its own account, nor doth any laden bear another’s load. then unto your lord is your return and he will tell you that wherein ye differed.

YUSUFALI:

Say: “shall i seek for (my) cherisher other than Allah, when he is the cherisher of all things (that exist)? Every soul draws the meed of its acts on none but itself: no bewerer of burdens can bear of burdens can bear the burden of another. your goal in the end is towards Allah: he will tell you the truth of the things wherein ye disputed.”

1) What if Allah should take people to task for what they have earned Right Now?,

2) Who in the heavens or in the earth can escape Allah?

5) Allah says that Man has to study the History to see the outcome of the deniers

The meaning of verse 35:44:

Have they not traveled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them — and they were mightier than these in power?, but [still] Allah destroyed them for their denial of the messengers.

And Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or in the earth can escape Him, pre-empt Him or elude Him. Truly He is ever Knower, of all things, Omnipotent.

In other words, the verse says that: Have they i.e. the disbelievers not traveled in the land and seen and reflect upon (the nature of the consequence) the punishment (for those who were before them) when they disbelieved in their messengers, (and they were mightier) in physical strength (than these in power) and had more children? (Allah is not such that aught in the heavens or in the earth) of creation (escape Him. Lo! He is the Aware) He knows His creation, (the Mighty) He has power over them.

This verse encourages traveling in the land and studying the history of the ancient people in order to realize the outcome of the deniers.

 

The meaning of verse 35:45:

Were Allah to take mankind to task for what they have acquired, of acts of disobedience, He would not leave on its surface, that is, the earth’s, a single creature, a single living thing moving thereon. But He reprieves them to an appointed term, namely, [to] the Day of Resurrection. And when their term comes, then truly [they will know that] Allah is ever Seer of His servants, and so He will requite them according to [the nature of] their deeds, rewarding the believers and punishing the disbelievers.

In other words, if Allah took mankind to task by that which they deserve by their sins, He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieves them unto an appointed term, and when their term, when the time of their destruction comes then verily they will know that Allah is ever Seer of His slaves. He knows who to destroy and who to spare.

44) What, have they not journeyed through the land and seen the end of those who went before them? they were stronger and mightier than themselves. Allah! there is nothing in heavens or earth that can frustrate him, he is the knower, the able.

45) If Allah should take people to task for what they have earned, he would not leave one creature that crawls upon the face (of the earth)! but, he is deferring them to a named time. and when their time comes, indeed, Allah is the seer of his worshipers.

SHAKIR:

44) Have they not travelled in the land and seen how was the end of those before them while they were stronger than these in power? and Allah is not such that anything in the heavens or in the earth should escape him; surely he is knowing, powerful

45) And were Allah to punish men for what they earn, he would not leave on the back of it any creature, but he respites them till an appointed term; so when their doom shall come, then surely Allah is seeing with respect to his servants

PICKTHAL:

44) Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them, and they were mightier than these in power? Allah is not such that aught in the heavens or in the earth escapeth him. lo! he is the wise, the mighty.

YUSUFALI:

44) Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them,- though they were superior to them in strength? nor is Allah to be frustrated by anything whatever in the heavens or on earth: for he is all-knowing. all-powerful.

45) If Allah were to punish men according to what they deserve. he would not leave on the back of the (earth) a single living creature: but he gives them respite for a stated term: when their term expires, verily Allah has in his sight all his servants.

(If Allah took mankind) and the jinn (to task by that which they deserve) by their sins, (He would not leave a living creature on the surface of the earth; but He reprieveth them unto an appointed term, and when their term) when the time of their destruction (cometh then verily (they will know that) Allah is ever Seer of His slaves) He knows who to destroy and who to spare’.

 

N.B.: This was the end of Surah (Chapter) 35 of the Noble Quran.

Surah 35 is called “Fatir” in Arabic.

In Arabic language, the word “Fatir” means the Creator.

The meaning of verse 35:32:

Then Allah gave the Book, the Quran, to those of Our servants whom Allah chose, namely, the Muslim’s community.

Yet some of them are those who wrong themselves, by failing to act fully in accordance with it, and

Some of them are moderate, acting in accordance with it most of the time, and

Some are those who take the lead in performing good works, so that in addition to Allah’s acquiring knowledge, He disseminates it and shows others the way [to proper conduct as well as acting in accordance [with the Quran], by the leave of Allah, by His will. That, bequest to them of the Book, is the greatest favor!

In other words, the verse means:

Then, after we sent Gabriel with the Quran to Muhammad Allah gave the Scripture as inheritance, He gave the honor of memorizing, writing and reciting the Quran (unto those whom Allah has elected of His bondmen, by means of faith, i.e. the community of Muhammad.

But of them are some who wrong themselves through committing enormities, and these will not be saved unless there is intercession in their favor, or unless they are forgiven or when Allah’s promise is fulfilled

and of them are some who are lukewarm, some of them did good works and evil works in equal measure; these will be slightly taken to task and then be saved,

and of them are some who outstrip (others) through good deeds in the life of this world and among those brought near to the Garden of Eden in the Hereafter, by Allah’s given success and beneficence.

That selection and outstripping is the great favor, the greatest grace that Allah can bestow upon them!

The meaning of verse 35:33:

Allah then showed their abode, saying: Gardens of Eden! the chamber of the Beneficent is their dwelling, with the Gardens surrounding it. They enter them wearing armlets of gold and pearl; this is the attire of women while the attire of men will be made of gold (and their raiment therein) in Paradise (is silk).

The meaning of verse 35:34:

And they will say, ‘Praise be to Allah Who has removed, all, grief from us. Truly our Lord is Forgiving, of sins, Appreciative, of obedience,

In other words, they say, the inhabitants of Paradise say, in Paradise: (Praise be to Allah) thanks and gratitude belong to Allah (who hath put grief) the grief of death, evanescence and the terrors of the Day of Judgment;

It is also said that this means: the grief of the risks involved in the life of this world (away from us. Lo! Our Lord is Forgiving) He forgives great sins, (Bountiful) He is grateful for even the slightest of good works,

The meaning of verse 35:35:

Who out of His favor has made us to dwell in the Abode of [everlasting] Stay, wherein no toil shall touch us, nor shall we be touched by any fatigue’, lack of strength caused by exhaustion, [and this is] because [religious] obligations no longer apply therein (the second of these [‘fatigue’], which is consequent upon the first [‘toil’], is mentioned in order to make explicit the non-existence [of any toil in Paradise]).

In short, the verse says: Who, of His grace, out of His great favor, (has installed us in the mansion of eternity) in Paradise, (where toil touches us not nor can weariness affect us) in Paradise.

32) Then, we gave the book as an inheritance to those of our worshipers whom we chose. among them, is he who was harmful to himself, and some who minimize, and some who, by the permission of Allah, race in charity, this is the greatest virtue.

33) They shall enter the gardens of eden, where they shall be adorned with bracelets of gold and with pearls, and there, their robes shall be of silk.

34) They shall say: ‘praise belongs to Allah who has removed all sorrow from us. indeed, our lord is the forgiver, the thanker.

35) Through his bounty he has made us to live in the abode of everlasting life, where neither weariness nor fatigue shall touch us. ‘

SHAKIR:

32) Then we gave the book for an inheritance to those whom we chose from among our servants; but of them is he who makes his soul to suffer a loss, and of them is he who takes a middle course, and of them is he who is foremost in deeds of goodness by Allah’s permission; this is the great excellence

33) Gardens of perpetuity, they shall enter therein; they shad be made to wear therein bracelets of gold and pearls, and their dress therein shall be silk

34) And they shall say: (all) praise is due to Allah, who has made grief to depart from us; most surely our lord is forgiving, multiplier of rewards,

35) Who has made us alight in a house abiding for ever out of . his grace; toil shall not touch us therein, nor shall fatigue therein afflict us

PICKTHAL:

32) Then we gave the scripture as inheritance unto those whom we elected of our bondmen. but of them are some who wrong themselves and of them are some who are lukewarm, and of them are some who outstrip (others) through good deeds, by Allah’s leave. that is the great favour!

33) Gardens of eden! they enter them wearing armlets of gold and pearl and their raiment therein is silk.

34) And they say: praise be to Allah who hath put grief away from us. lo! our lord is forgiving, bountiful,

35) Who, of his grace, hath installed us in the mansion of eternity, where toil toucheth us not nor can weariness affect us.

YUSUFALI:

32) Then we have given the book for inheritance to such of our servants as we have chosen: but there are among them some who wrong their own souls; some who follow a middle course; and some who are, by Allah’s leave, foremost in good deeds; that is the highest grace.

33) Gardens of eternity will they enter: therein will they be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls; and their garments there will be of silk.

34) And they will say: “praise be to Allah, who has removed from us (all) sorrow: for our lord is indeed oft-forgiving ready to appreciate (service):

35) “Who has, out of his bounty, settled us in a home that will last: no toil nor sense of weariness shall touch us therein.”
