Atheists in Quran (35) they are hasty

The Atheists try to hasten the punishment against which the Prophet Muhammad warns them. Sarcastically, they say, ‘When will this promise of resurrection and chastisement be fulfilled, if you are truthful O Muhammad?

The Quran says that 1) Man is a creature of haste; he is so hasty in his affairs and 2) Verily, messengers before you O Muhammad were derided but those who mocked them were encircled by the chastisement, which they used to deride; likewise, it shall befall those who have derided you.

The Arabs at the time of the Prophet Muhammad were one of two:

The unbelievers deny the existence of One God and they used to worship many idols as gods

The Atheists who deny the existence of any god

Both groups deny the Resuscitation, the Day of Judgment and the Afterlife

They deny the very existence of Allah, the Most Merciful, who has created the universe and set the rules that operate in it and sustain its existence.

Herein, a likely dispute is expected.

Allah’s Messenger Muhammad speaks out against their deities, showing such inanimate idols to be useless.

On the other hand, The Atheists and unbelievers rudely deny Allah and they hurl abuse and mockery at Allah’s Messenger, saying that it is unacceptable that he should criticize their idol worship. They find nothing wrong with the arrogance that leads them to

Deny Allah’s existence,

Deny Allah’s Messenger and

Reject Allah’s revelation, the Quran.

The sarcasm of their attitude exposes to the full the far- reaching corruption that affects their nature and impairs their judgment.

Whenever they see you O Muhammad, they take you in derision and pick you out for mockery

What is more stupid of them?

They try to hasten the punishment against which the Prophet warns them.

They say, ‘When will this promise of resurrection and chastisement be fulfilled, if you are truthful O Muhammad?

Man is a creature of haste; he is so hasty in his affairs

Haste is present in man’s very nature and constitution.

He always stretches his eyes to what lies ahead, beyond the present moment, aiming to grasp it with his own hand. He wants to achieve, the moment it flashes in his mind, all that seems desirable. He wants to see all that is promised to him, even though it may be to his damage. Such is man’s nature, unless he establishes a firm relationship with Allah, which gives him strength and reassurance. He will then trust to Allah’s wisdom, leaving His will to run its course without hastening events. For faith combines trust with patience and reassurance.

Those unbelievers hastened Allah’s punishment, wondering when the promise of punishment in the hereafter, as well as in this life, would be fulfilled.

The Quran paints here for them a scene of the suffering in the hereafter, while also warning them against a similar punishment to that which befell earlier communities, which rejected the faith

If the unbelievers only knew what shall happen to them:

They would change their attitude completely.

They would stop their mockery and hastening of what is bound to come.

Let them, then, see what is bound to come.

There, the fire surrounds them on all sides.

Nay, but it, the Resurrection, shall come upon them suddenly, dumbfounding them, confusing them, and they shall not be able to ward it off, nor shall they be granted any respite, [nor shall they] be given any [extra] time to make a repentance or offer an excuse.

We envisage their agitated movements, described implicitly in the verse, to protect their faces and their backs against the fire, but their attempt is useless. It is as if the fire engulfs them on all sides. They can neither keep it away from themselves, nor retreat to seek protection. Nor is even a short respite from it possible.

That the punishment comes suddenly is only the response for their hastening it.

Sarcastically, they used to say time after time:

“When is this promise to be fulfilled, if what you say be true?”

The answer is that it comes suddenly, perplexing their minds and paralyzing their will. Thus, they are unable to think or act. This applies to the punishment in the hereafter.

Moreover, verily messengers before you were derided but those who mocked them were encircled by the chastisement, which they used to deride; likewise, it shall befall those who have derided you.

As for this world’s punishment, it certainly befell communities before them, which ridiculed Allah’s messengers. Just as those communities were unable to ward off a punishment that wiped them out altogether, so these unbelievers are unable to avert their defeat and captivity. They are thus warned not to deride Allah’s Messenger, to avoid the punishment that befalls those who ridicule prophets. Such fate and punishment is bound to come, because it is part of Allah’s law, which will inevitably, take effect, just as the destruction of earlier communities, guilty of the same offence, proves.

36-When the unbelievers see you, they take you only for mockery, saying: ‘is this he who talks about your gods? ‘While they are unbelievers in the remembrance of the merciful.

37-The human was created of haste. Indeed, I will show you my signs; so do not ask me to hasten them.

39-If the unbelievers only knew when they will be unable to shield either their faces or their backs from the fire; when they will not be helped!

36-And when those who disbelieve behold thee, they but choose thee out for mockery, (saying): is this he who maketh mention of your gods? and they would deny all mention of the beneficent.

37-Man is made of haste. I shall show you my portents, but ask me not to hasten.

38-And they say: when will this promise (be fulfilled), if ye are truthful?

39-If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not be able to drive off the fire from their faces and from their backs, and they will not be helped!

40-Nay, but it will come upon them unawares so that it will stupefy them, and they will be unable to repel it, neither will they be reprieved.

41-Messengers before thee, indeed, were mocked, but that whereat they mocked surrounded those who scoffed at them.

YUSUFALI:

36-When the unbelievers see thee, they treat thee not except with ridicule. “is this,” (they say), “the one who talks of your gods?” and they blaspheme at the mention of (Allah) most gracious!

37-Man is a creature of haste: soon (enough) will i show you my signs; then ye will not ask me to hasten them!

38-They say: “when will this promise come to pass, if ye are telling the truth?”

39-If only the unbelievers knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor yet from their backs, and (when) no help can reach them!

40-Nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite.

41-Mocked were (many) messenger before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked.

Atheists in Quran (16) they mocked Muhammad

The Quran talked about the Atheists’ mockery they hurled at the Prophet Muhammad. The Quran says, “If they knew of the time when they shall not be able to ward off the Fire from their faces, nor from their backs and none shall protect them from it at the Resurrection”.

Do Not Overlook this Warning

The verses 21:38-41 describe how the Atheists deal with Muhammad

The verses talk about

  • The way the unbelievers received Allah’s Messenger and the revelations he was given.
  • The mockery they hurled at him and
  • Their persistent disbelief.

The verses follow this by pointing out that, by nature, man is hasty.

One manifestation of this haste is the unbelievers’ attempts to hasten Allah’s punishment.

Hence, it warns them against such haste and makes it clear to them that they must refrain from mocking the Prophet Muhammad if they wish to avoid the consequences of such unwarranted behavior. That is the persistent suffering of the unbelievers in the hereafter.

The verses talk about the accuracy of the reckoning in the hereafter and the suitability of the reward given on the Day of Judgment.

Thus, the reckoning and the reward are linked to the rules operating in the universe, human nature and human life.

What is more, they try to hasten the punishment against which the Prophet warns them.

For, by nature, man is hasty:

“Man is a creature of haste.”

Haste is present in man’s very nature and constitution.

  • A time when they will not be able to shield their faces and their backs from the fire;
  • A time when they will find no support.

Indeed, it will come upon them all of a sudden, and will stupefy them.

They will be unable to avert it, nor will they be allowed any respite.

Other messengers were derided before your time; but those who scoffed at them were [in the end] overwhelmed by the very thing that they derided.”

(Verses 39-41)

If the Atheists only knew what will happen to them, they would change their attitude completely.

They would stop their mockery and hastening of what is bound to come.

Let them, then, see what is bound to come. Therein, the fire surrounds them on all sides.

Imagine their frantic movements, described implicitly in the verse, to protect their faces and their backs against the fire, but their attempt is futile. It is as if the fire engulfs them on all sides. They can neither keep it away from themselves, nor retreat to seek protection. Nor is even a short respite from it possible.

That the punishment comes suddenly is only the response for their hastening it.

They used to say time after time:

“When is this promise to be fulfilled, if what you say be true?” (Verse 38)

There were three disobedient men who were evil doers and encouraged others to do so Allah said to them: Be apes, despised!, and they became so.

The Quran says that the evil-doers party used to catch fish on the Sabbath and encouraged others to do so too.

3) The Unenthusiastic Party of the Israelites Who Neither…Nor…

The Quran says that there was another group of people who did not catch fish on the Sabbath but did not warn others against doing so.

4) The Good Party of the Israelites Who Did Not…

The Quran says that there was another group of people (the good party) who did not catch the fish on the Sabbath and warned and prohibited others against doing so.

5) Why Has Allah Turned Them Into Animals?

The Quran says that when they disdained, to desist from, that which was prohibited to them, Allah has turned them into animals.

Allah Commanded the Israelites to say: Repentance; and say: there is no deity except Allah; O Our Lord! Forgive our sins Forgive our sins but they changed what they were commanded to say.

Allah Commanded the Israelites to enter the gate of the township prostrate; but they entered the gate dragging themselves on their rears.

Then Allah sent upon the Israelites the plague for their wrong-doing

And question them, O Muhammad, about the city that was by the sea, bordering the Red Sea about what befell its inhabitants (the Israelites), how they would violate, the Sabbath, by fishing, which they had been commanded not to do on that day; how their fish would come to them on the day of their Sabbath floating at the surface, visible at the surface of the water; but on the day they did not observe the Sabbath, when they would not consecrate the Sabbath over the other days, they would not come to them, as a trial from Allah. Thus, Allah was trying them for their wickedness. And when they went to fish, the city split into three: one third joined the fishing party, another prohibited them, while a third abstained from both fishing and prohibiting.

The meaning of verse 7:164

While still talking about the dwellers of city that was by the Red Sea, the verse talks about the unenthusiastic party of the Israelites who neither fished nor prohibited it.

The verse says:

And when a community among them said: Why preach ye to a folk whom Allah is about to destroy by turning them into animals and punish with an awful doom with the Fire?  They said: In order to be free from guilt before your Lord, in order to have an argument before your Lord, and that haply they may ward off evil, ward off taking the fish on the Sabbath. These were three people (the evil-doers party) who used to catch fish on the Sabbath and encouraged others to do so too. There was another group of people who did not catch fish on the Sabbath but did not warn others against doing so. And lastly there was another group of people who did not catch the fish on the Sabbath and warned others against doing so. Allah turned those who caught fish on the Sabbath and enjoined others to do so into animals and spared the others.

In other words, the verse says: And when a community among them, who neither fished nor prohibited it, said, to those who prohibited it: Why do you preach to a folk whom Allah is about to destroy or chastise with a severe chastisement?  They said, our admonishing them is, ‘As an exculpation, by which we excuse ourselves, before your Lord, lest we are reproached for failing to prohibit them in any way; and so that they might be wary of fishing.

The meaning of verse 7:165

And when they forgot that whereof they had been reminded; and when they left what they were commanded to do, Allah rescued those who forbade wrong i.e. catching fish on the Sabbath, and visited those who did wrong by catching fish on the Sabbath with dreadful, a severe punishment because they were evil-livers, because they were transgressors.

In other words, the verse says: And when they forgot, when they overlooked, that whereof they had been reminded, that for which they had been admonished, and did not desist, Allah delivered those who forbade evil, and seized those who did wrong, through transgression, with a grievous, terrible, chastisement for their wickedness.

The meaning of verse 7:166

And when they disdained, to desist from, that which was prohibited to them,

Allah said to them: Be apes, despised!, abased, and loathed! humiliated and abominated! And they became so.

This is an explication of what preceded with regard to the details of their ‘grievous chastisement’.

But, what about the unenthusiastic party?

Ibn Abbās, one of the famous interpreters of the Quran said: ‘I do not know what befell the group that abstained’.

On the other hand, Ikrima (also a famous interpreter of the Quran) said: That group was not destroyed because they had been averse to what the others did and had said: Why preach ye to a folk whom Allah is about to destroy…

164) And when some asked: ‘why do you admonish a nation whom Allah will destroy or sternly punish? ‘ they replied: ‘(seeking) a pardon from your Lord, and in order that they may be cautious. ‘

165) Therefore, when they forgot that of which they were reminded, we saved those who were forbidding evil, and seized the evildoers with an evil punishment for that which they used to do of evil.

166) And when they had scornfully persisted in what they had been forbidden, we said to them: ‘be apes, despised. ‘

164) And when a party of them said: why do you admonish a with a severe chastisement? they said: to be free from blame before your Lord, and that haply they may guard (against evil)

165) So when they neglected what they had been reminded of, we delivered those who forbade evil and we overtook those who were unjust with an evil chastisement because they transgressed

166) Therefore when they revoltingly persisted in what they had been forbidden, we said to them: be (as) apes, despised and hated

165) When they disregarded the warnings that had been given them, we rescued those who forbade evil; but we visited the wrong-doers with a grievous punishment because they were given to transgression.

166) When in their insolence they transgressed (all) prohibitions, we said to them: “be ye apes, despised and rejected.”

The meaning of verse 7:62

I convey unto you the messages of my Lord, by explaining commands and prohibition and give good counsel unto you,

I am advising you, I desire good,

I warn against the torment and call you to repentance and faith,

and I know from Allah what you do not know of torment, if you do not believe.

 

The meaning of verse 7:63

Do you then, deny, marvel that a prophet, a reminder, an admonition, from your Lord by means of a man among you, a human being like you, should come to you through, the tongue of, a man from among you,

and that you may keep from evil, and that you obey Allah and ward off worship of other than Him,

that he, the prophet, may warn you, of chastisement if you do not believe, and that you may fear, Allah, and that haply you may find mercy and not be tormented.

 

The meaning of verse 7:64

But they denied him, and so Allah delivered him and those with him, from drowning, in the Ark, in the ship, and Allah drowned those who denied His signs, by means of the Flood. Truly they were blind to the guidance and to the truth.  Truly they were disbelievers in Allah.

64- But they called him a liar, so we delivered him and those with him in the ark, and we drowned those who rejected our communications; surely they were a blind people

PICKTHAL:

62- “I but fulfil towards you the duties of my lord’s mission: sincere is my advice to you, and i know from Allah something that ye know not.

63- “Do ye wonder that there hath come to you a message from your lord, through a man of your own people, to warn you,- so that ye may fear Allah and haply receive his mercy?”

64- But they rejected him, and we delivered him, and those with him, in the ark: but we overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected our signs. they were indeed a blind people!

Allah Asks you (29) will you then submit to Allah’ Will?

In the Noble Quran, Allah is asking mankind some important questions.

It seems compulsory for the serious one who is looking for the truth to have a look at those questions and if possible to answer them.

Allah’ questions are many. In this series, these questions are chosen randomly.

Allah is asking mankind this question: Say: it is only revealed to me that your God is one, Allah; will you then submit? But if they turn back, say: I have given you warning in fairness; although I do not know whether nigh or far that which you are promised of chastisement is with respect to the Day of Resurrection that comprises this chastisement; only Allah knows it.

The meanings of Verses 21:107-110

 

Verse 21:107 says:

We did not send you O Muhammad, except as a mercy to all the worlds, the worlds of mankind and jinn through you; that shields from chastisement for the peoples from among the Jinn, humans and all those who believe in you; it is also said that mercy here means blessing.

Herein, there is a very important question:

Allah, the Creator of the worlds says that He sent Muhammad as a mercy to all the worlds.

On the other hand, Satan and his hosts say the opposite.

Well, where are you in this crucial issue?

Verse 21:108 says:

Say O Muhammad: It is inspired unto me in this Quran that your God is One; Allah Who has no children or partners.  So will you submit?

Will you then surrender unto Him?

will you accede to affirming the Oneness of the Divine that is being revealed to me? 

will you then believe and be sincere in your worship and profession of Allah’s divine Oneness!

 

Verse 21:109 says:

If you submit yourself to Allah then you are a Muslim and if not, you are not.

You totally have the freedom of belief, but are you ready for the “Hour”?

But if they turn away from faith and sincerity, then say to them, O Muhammad:

I have warned you, I have informed you, and as such you and I have become all alike both of us are openly aware of the matter and there is no secret, that is to say, you are all equal in having knowledge of this: I shall not proceed independently without having first informed you, in order for you to make preparations, although I do not know whether nigh or far that which you are promised of chastisement is with respect to the Day of Resurrection that comprises this chastisement; only Allah knows it.

 

Verse 21:110 says:

Indeed He, exalted be He, knows whatever is spoken aloud, and what you and others do, and He knows what you conceal, both you and others, of secrets of words and deeds, just as He knows the time of your chastisement.

110) He knows your spoken words and what you hide.

 

SHAKIR:

107) And we have not sent you but as a mercy to the worlds

108) Say: it is only revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah; will you then submit?

109) But if they turn back, say: I have given you warning in fairness and I do not know whether what you are threatened with is near or far;

110) Surely he knows what is spoken openly and he knows what you hide;

 

PICKTHAL:

107) We sent thee not save as a mercy for the peoples.

109) But if they are averse, then say: I have warned you all alike, although I know not whether nigh or far is that which ye are promised.

Many people do not know Allah. This series is an attempt to help them in order to know and acknowledge their Creator.

Verses 7:19-22 of the Noble Quran talk about:

1) Allah told Adam that Satan is his manifest enemy,

The meaning of verse 7:19

And, Allah said, ‘O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, Eve, in the Garden, and eat from whence in Paradise you will, but do not come near this tree, to eat of it; lest you become evildoers and wrong-doers’.  In other words, do not eat from this tree lest you become of those who harm themselves.

The meaning of verse 7:20

Then Satan, Iblis, whispered to them that he might manifest, reveal, to them that which was hidden to them of their shameful parts by the attire of light (of their shame) of their nakedness. And he said, ‘Your Lord prohibited you from this tree only, in aversion, lest you become angels or become immortals’, in other words, that is the necessary consequence of eating from it, as is stated in another verse (20:120): Shall I guide you to the Tree of Immortality and a kingdom that does not waste away?

In other words, Iblis said to them: (Your Lord forbade you) O Adam and Eve (from this tree only lest ye should become angels) who teach good and evil in Paradise (or become of the immortals) in Paradise: this is why He forbade you to eat from the tree.

This indicates that Satan knows the man’s weak point and man loves to have kingdom and to be immortal

The meaning of verse 7:21

And he swore to both of them, that is, he swore to both of them by Allah, ‘Truly, I am a sincere adviser to you’, in this matter; in my oath that this is the tree of immortality.

The meaning of verse 7:22

Thus he did lead them on, to eat from the tree with guile, with falsehood and lies until they ate from it. Thus Satan did debase them in their status, by delusion, on his part.

And when they tasted of the tree their shame, their nakedness was manifest to them and they began out of shame to hide by heaping on themselves some of the leaves of the Garden.  In other words, their shameful parts were manifested to them, that is, the front private part of each was revealed to the other, as well as their behinds — each of these parts is called, ‘shameful’, because its exposure ‘shames’ that person, and they began to piece together, they began to stick, onto themselves some of the leaves of the Garden, to cover themselves up therewith.

And their Lord called them: O Adam and Eve, saying: Did I not forbid you from that tree, from eating of that tree and tell you: Lo! Satan, Iblis, is an open enemy to you whose enmity is quite manifest?

In other words, Allah called them: ‘Did I not prohibit you from this tree, and say to you, “Verily Satan is a manifest enemy to you”?’, one whose enmity is evident? Herein, the interrogative is meant as an affirmative.

QARIB:

19) ‘o Adam dwell with your wife in paradise, and eat from whatever you please; but never approach this tree or you shall both become harmdoers. ‘

20) But Satan whispered to them, so that he might reveal to them their shameful parts which had been hidden from them, he said: ‘your lord has prohibited you from this tree lest you both become angels or become among the immortal. ‘

21) He swore to both: ‘indeed, i am to you among the advisers. ‘

22) So he cheated both by delusion. and when they had tasted the tree, their shameful parts became apparent to them, and they both covered themselves with the leaves of paradise. (then) their lord called to them, saying: ‘did i not prohibit you to approach that tree, and did i not warn you that Satan was your clear enemy? ‘

 

SHAKIR:

19) And (we said): o Adam! dwell you and your wife in the garden; so eat from where you desire, but do not go near this tree, for then you will be of the unjust

20) But the shaitan made an evil suggestion to them that he might make manifest to them what had been hidden from them of their evil inclinations, and he said: your lord has not forbidden you this tree except that you may not both become two angels or that you may (not) become of the immortals

21) And he swore to them both: most surely i am a sincere adviser to you

22) Then he caused them to fall by deceit; so when they tasted of the tree, their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves of the garden; and their lord called out to them: did i not forbid you both from that tree and say to you that the shaitan is your open enemy?

 

PICKTHAL:

19) And (unto man): o Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the garden and eat from whence ye will, but come not nigh this tree lest ye become wrong-doers.

20) Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: your lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.

21) And he swore unto them (saying): lo! i am a sincere adviser unto you.

22) Thus did he lead them on with guile. and when they tasted of the tree their shame was manifest to them and they began to hide (by heaping) on themselves some of the leaves of the garden. and their lord called them, (saying): did i not forbid you from that tree and tell you: lo! Satan is an open enemy to you?

 

YUSUFALI:

19) “o Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression.”

20) Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: “your lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever.”

21) And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser.

22) So by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tasted of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies. and their lord called unto them: “did i not forbid you that tree, and tell you that Satan was an avowed enemy unto you?”

Allah asks you (13) are the Blind man and the Seer Equal?

Allah sent his Messengers to bear good tidings and to warn of the Hell

No fear shall befall them and they will not grieve in the Hereafter, Who they are?

Allah Asks: Are the believer and disbeliever equal in acts of obedience and reward?

‘Is the blind man, the disbeliever, equal to the seeing man, the believer?  Are the believer and disbeliever equal in acts of obedience and reward?

No! Will you not then reflect’ upon this and believe? 

Will you not then take thought about the similes of the Quran?

Verses 6:48-50 give the question of this article and talk about it

The meanings of Verses 6:48-50

Verse 6:48 says:

Allah does not send messengers, except to bear good tidings and to warn of the Hell,

To bear good tidings to those who believe of Paradise, and

To warn of the Hell, to those who disbelieve, warning of the Fire.

Whoever believes, in them and Scriptures, and makes amends, in his deeds, no fear shall befall them; neither shall they grieve, in the Hereafter.

Verse 6:49 says:

But as for those who deny Our revelations,

Those who deny Muhammad and the Quran, torment will afflict them for that they used to disobey because of their denial of Muhammad and the Qur’an.

The chastisement shall afflict them because they were wicked, rebelling against obedience.

Verse 6:50 says:

Say O Muhammad to them: ‘I do not say to you,

“I possess the keys to the treasures of Allah from which He provides sustenance e.g. vegetations, fruits, rain or punishment,

And I do not have knowledge of the Unseen, that which is hidden from me and has not been revealed to me.

 And I do not say to you, “I am an angel”, from among the angels;

I only follow what is revealed to me, only that which is inspired in me’

(Say) O Muhammad:

Are the blind man and the seer equal?

‘Is the blind man, the disbeliever, equal to the seeing man, the believer?

Are the believer and disbeliever equal in acts of obedience and reward?

No! Will you not then reflect’ upon this and believe?

Will you not then take thought about the similes of the Quran?

48) We send forth our messengers only to give glad tidings to mankind and to warn them. Those who believe and mend their ways shall have nothing to fear or to be saddened.

49) But those who belie our verses, punishment shall touch them for their misdeeds.

50) Say: ‘I do not tell you that I have the treasuries of Allah or know the unseen, nor do I claim to be an angel. I follow only that which is revealed to me. ‘ say: ‘are the blind and the seeing alike? Will you not think?

SHAKIR:

48) And we send not messengers but as announcers of good news and givers of warning, then whoever believes and acts aright, they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.

49) And (as for) those who reject our communications, chastisement shall afflict them because they transgressed

50) Say: I do not say to you, I have with me the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel; I do not follow aught save that which is revealed to me. Say: are the blind and the seeing one alike? Do you not then reflect?

PICKTHAL:

48) We send not the messengers save as bearers of good news and warners. Whoso believeth and doeth right, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

49) But as for those who deny our revelations, torment will afflict them for that they used to disobey.

50) Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): I say not unto you (that) I possess the treasures of Allah, nor that I have knowledge of the unseen; and I say not unto you: lo! I am an angel. I follow only that which is inspired in me. Say: are the blind man and the seer equal? Will ye not then take thought?

YUSUFALI:

48) We send the messengers only to give good news and to warn: so those who believe and mend (their lives), – upon them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

49) But those who reject our signs,- them shall punishment touch, for that they ceased not from transgressing.

50) Say: “I tell you not that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor do I know what is hidden, nor do I tell you I am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to Me.” say: “can the blind be held equal to the seeing?” will ye then consider not?

On the Day of Judgment, Every soul will wish there were a great distance between it and its evil deeds.  Allah warns all of you to be bewaring of Him: Obey Allah and obey Muhammad; but if man turns away and does not obey, Lo! Allah does not love the disbelievers, meaning that He will chastise them.

The meanings of verses 3:30-32 of the Noble Quran:

Verse 3:30 says that: On the Day of Judgment,

When every man will find himself confronted with all that he/she has done,

Everything of good and of evil is written in its register.

Every soul will wish there were a great distance between it and its evil deeds.

The Lord warns you of His Self.

Allah warns all of you to be beware of Him.

And Allah is full of pity for His bondmen.

He is full of pity for the believers.

 

When they said, ‘We only worship idols out of our love for God, that they might bring us close to Him’,

Verse 3:31 was revealed:

Say, O Muhammad, ‘If you love Allah, follow me, and Allah will love you,

Meaning that He will reward you, and forgive your sins;

Allah is Forgiving, as regards the sins, committed previously, by one who now follows the Prophet Muhammad; Merciful, to him.

This verse was revealed about the Jews who claimed they were the children of Allah and His beloved ones.

When this verse was revealed one of the hypocrites said: “Muhammad is commanding us to love him as the Christians loved Jesus”, and the Jews said: “Muhammad wants us to take him as a compassionate Lord, just as the Christians took Jesus as a compassionate Lord”.

 

Consequently, Allah revealed the verse 3:32 about their comments:

Say: Obey Allah regarding what He has obligated and obey the Messenger in his practices.

But if they turn away from obeying Allah and Muhammad

Lo! Allah does not love the disbelievers, meaning that He will chastise them.

This indicate that anyone denies Allah and His Prophet Muhammad is a disbeliever!

30) The day that every soul shall find what it has done of good brought forward, and what it has done of evil, it will wish if there were only a far space between it and that (day). Allah warns you to be wary of him; and Allah is gentle with his worshipers.

31) Say (Prophet Muhammad): ‘if you love Allah, follow me and Allah will love you, and forgive your sins. Allah is forgiving and merciful. ‘

32) Say: ‘obey Allah and the messenger. ‘ but if they turn away, then truly, Allah does not love the unbelievers.

SHAKIR:

30) On the day that every soul shall find present what it has done of good and what it has done of evil, it shall wish that between it and that (evil) there were a long duration of time; and Allah makes you to be cautious of (retribution from) himself; and Allah is compassionate to the servants

31) Say: if you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is forgiving, merciful

32) Say: obey Allah and the messenger; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers

PICKTHAL:

30) On the day when every soul will find itself confronted with all that it hath done of good and all that it hath done of evil (every soul) will long that there might be a mighty space of distance between it and that (evil). Allah biddeth you beware of him. and Allah is full of pity for (his) bondmen.

31) Say, (o Muhammad, to mankind): if ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is forgiving, merciful.

32) Say: obey Allah and the messenger. but if they turn away, lo! Allah loveth not the disbelievers (in his guidance).

YUSUFALI:

30) “On the day when every soul will be confronted with all the good it has done, and all the evil it has done, it will wish there were a great distance between it and its evil. but Allah cautions you (to remember) himself. and Allah is full of kindness to those that serve him.”

31) Say: “if ye do love Allah, follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: for Allah is oft-forgiving, most merciful.”

32) Say: “obey Allah and his messenger”: but if they turn back, Allah loveth not those who reject faith.

Chapter 6 of the Quran (93) who shall have the praiseworthy sequel in the Afterlife?

The entire messengers sent by Allah said to the unbelievers among their people: ‘O people! Work according to your faith, act according to what please you. Truly we, the believers, are acting according to what pleases Allah. And assuredly you will know who shall have the praiseworthy sequel in the abode of the Afterlife will it be us or yourselves?

Allah has sent messengers to mankind as warners to warn man of the encounter of the Day of Judgment if he disbelieves.

Sending of the messengers is because Allah, the absolute Just, would never punish unwarned people.

The message of the Entire messengers was the same; that is to worship the only One True God whose name is Allah.

The entire messengers used to tell their people:

Truly, that which you were promised, of Death, of revival, of the Hour   will surely come to pass, inevitably, and you cannot escape

Truly, that which you were promised of the Day of Judgment and of questioning you for what you have done in the life of this world will surely come to pass, unescapably, and you cannot elude.

Actually, that which you were promised of the chastisement of the unbelievers and their the dwelling of the unbelievers in the Eternal Hell will surely come to pass, unquestionably, and they cannot escape.

Truthfully, that which you were promised of the dwelling of the unbelievers in the Eternal Hell will surely come to pass, and they cannot escape and none of their friends can help them

Ayah 6:135 continues saying:

Say O Muhammad to the unbelievers:

‘O people! Work according to your faith act according to what please you,

Truly we, the believers, are acting according to what pleases Allah.

And assuredly you will know who shall have the praiseworthy sequel in the abode of the Afterlife will it be us or yourselves?

Surely, the the unjust disbelievers shall not be successful in the Afterlife; they will not be safe nor will they escape from Allah’s torment. None of their friends will be able to help them.

It should be emphasised that the entire messengers sent by Allah said all of the above to their people.

Say: ‘work according to your station my people, for indeed I am working. ‘You shall know to whom will be the good end of the abode. The harmdoers shall not be triumphant.

SHAKIR:

Say: o my people! Act according to your ability; I too am acting; so you will soon come to know, for whom (of us) will be the (good) end of the abode; surely the unjust shall not be successful

PICKTHAL:

Say (O Muhammad): o my people! Work according to your power. lo! I too am working. Thus ye will come to know for which of us will be the happy sequel. lo! the wrong-doers will not be successful.

YUSUFALI:

Say: “o my people! Do wver ye can: I will do (my part): soon will ye know who it is whose end will be (best) in the hereafter: certain it is that the wrong-doers will not prosper.”
